  • Supports proxy-servers, HTTP and FTP file protocols and their protected versions of HTTPS and FTPS, as well as the main streaming protocols for audio and video content M3U8, MPEG-DASH, VIMEO-STREAM, firewalls, redirects, cookies, authorization, processing of audio and video content.

it seems that this giveaway version no longer works after 2021-08-31, every time when it starts, a pop-up window will show up and tell you that this version can only be installed in a limited time (2021-08-31). Not sure if anyone else meets the same problem.

I had the exact same issue. It was installed on the giveaway day. It worked for several weeks, and then get the message you showed. This has happened every giveaway for this program, it only works for a little while, and then similar message. It was supposed to be Lifetime with no free updates. I had the check for updates setting unchecked.

This the best all round downloader full stop and is one of the Giveaways that I have purchased before.

It integrates with all your browsers, is much faster than anything else that I have tried and gives you a large range of video qualities to choose from, and audio too.

It has many customisable options, including multiple folder download options for different types.

The website has some easy to follow guides and also a forum to get answers to problems etc

I would personally recommend that you purchase a lifetime licence because Youtube does seem to make changes that render the video downloading feature less useful after a time and seems to constantly change.

But, because people will see this as essentially a one trick pony, they may be less inclined to purchase at the lifetime price, so the dev might think more about a lower price an make it permanent for all. I think that they would sell many more and make more money in the end.

The program is well documented on their site (pictures and detail how-to). The program appears to have many features that others of this type lack. With so many buttons, and options, it is good to have that documentation available. It does appear to be able to do torrents (I have no experience with torrenting). Thank you!

It seems that it did install successfully, as no error was reported. But can not find out where is it installed. Can not find it under 'A' or "D", in either of the program directories. It does not appear in Ashampoo Uninstall Software. Can not find it under remove program. Before I could post the incidence, I discovered that it was happening because of AVG Antivirus, which was silently prohibiting the installation.

I have been using Ant Download Manager Pro for several years. It is easy to use, their support is great, and the downloads are quick. It's a great program for Chrome, but MS Edge doesn't like it at all to be used. It has removed it from my Edge and will not accept it.

AntDM

I made post #6 below. Can you please respond to my inquiries.

My post was:

I had installed Ant Download Manager Pro 2.2.0 GOTD version on 02-12-21 and disabled automatic updates. It worked great; but about a month and a half ago, it stopped working. When trying to download, it gives error ‘Sorry, the downloader could not get Video links. Server answered: HTTP410 [Gone]’. Why did this happen???

Also, if I uninstall version 2.2.0 [so that I can install this new GOTD], will it delete the downloads [Video & MP3] that I had previously made with v2.2.0???

Reply   |   Comment by L  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

L,
HTTP* (HTTP410, 403,404,500,etc) are server response errors from which the download is taking place.
Why do these errors occur? For a variety of reasons, such as: server is unavailable, server errors, video upload algorithm or protocol changed, etc.
These errors are less related to the work of AntDM itself.

If you think that the developers are cheating and want to reduce the softwate lifetime , I hasten to inform you that this is prejudice!
Our gift program has only one difference from the full pro version - no free updates.

Reply   |   Comment by AntDM  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

AntDM,
Your first paragraph answered my first question. It might have sufficed to say that the algorithm to obtain the download links may have changed which probably was causing the error.

You did NOT answer my second question.

I never implied that any cheating was going on as per you second paragraph; and prejudice is what your snide remark was.
Prejudice against someone with less knowledge than the developers just for asking a question.

You might take some lessons from the replies made by TK and FeMaster to my first post which was very helpful and not full of uningratiating undertones.

I would not have replied back had it not been for your second paragraph; but customer service should be helpful and not off-putting.

Reply   |   Comment by L  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

L,
In general, you should not uninstall the previous version. You should install the new version over the previous one. Uninstalling makes sense if you get confused with the settings, get unexpected errors, something didn't go as you expected.
If you uninstall a previous version, all task files (downloads), software settings, browser integration, etc. are deleted.
Downloaded files (video,mp3,exe,zip,doc, etc) are not deleted!

Dattatraya Vaidya, In mine, it is stored in Program Files (x86). This is a great program. They constantly keep up-to-date on any changes YT makes. Also any available video resolutions. And audio-only on YT instantly ready. Bought Pro a long time ago, and have never had second thoughts. These "guys" are GOOD.

Buckley, I have the same problem on Window 7 64 bit -

I get the "Failed to launch the program" error at the point where the install pops up the message "Activating... connecting to giveawayoftheday.com: checking giveaway availability" Prior to this I had installed the previous giveawayoftheday offer of Ant on this Win7 computer with no problems.

Successfully installed on Windows 10 64 bit

My husband had to go into safe mode with networking to get it installed and working on his Win7

Please tell me why I would need a download manager when Utorrent does a fantastic job it.s free, also very fast and efficient and I have not had any problems with it at all, Just remember "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Reply   |   Comment by Bill  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-13)

Bill, believe me I still use torrent programs too (you should stop using Utorrent, it's riddled with ads now. Just use QBittorrent if you're so smart. It's what UTorrent used to be back in mid 2000's before it sold out). I use Ant Downloader all the time to download youtube videos or anything else on the internet that you can't normally find with torrents or use DownloadHelper to get.

Reply   |   Comment by casedistorted  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

What I was trying to say to Bill is that ant downloadhelper pro is not a torrent program exclusively. I've never used it with torrents, you can download the extension for Firefox with this program and it will let you grab and download any video or audio file you can see. It's extremely good at that, and with the Pro version you can download them in HD. So any website you can think of you want to get a video or audio file from.

Reply   |   Comment by casedistorted  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

TK, Good points! I would assume that version of UTorrent must be very very old then because the last time I remember it not having ads was an extremely long time ago. If it works for you then that is good, I just made the switch to QBittorent a long time ago since I needed a program that was updated so my torrents would be tracked properly on different private tracker websites. As I understand it older torrent programs can have some issues, and since QBittorent works exactly the same as oldschool Utorrent, I just made the switch.

Now for Ant DownloadManager program, it CAN be used as a torrent program but that is never what I use it for. It is basically a program that lets you pull down and download any video or image file on any website you encounter.. which can be extremely useful for many things. On top of that it can be used for torrents as well, if you want. I don't use it for torrents, I use it to download any video file I want that you normally could not without having to pay some kind of subscription fee.

I hope you were able to grab it before it went away!

Installed and no registration loops to jump through, brilliant.

I tried this solely because I have been trying to download videos from YT that IDM and every other browser integrated download manager I've tried failed miserably.

Ant DM did it straight off, it was so quick I thought it can't be right, I was wrong. 10 out of 10 from me.

This is a nice program. It has been offered for free a few times over the years. One thing I have noticed is that after about a year it will no longer allow me to download Hi-definition videos. I get a message saying that I have to upgrade to the pro version to download 720p or higher quality videos. Each time the description says it is the pro version for life with no (free)upgrades. I was wondering why it does this when the version offered is free for lifetime? Maybe it is something in my settings? I installed this version and I hope it continues to work without the issues I have had in the past.

Mike K.,
it will happen if you update the current giveavay version. You will lose a giveaway license and get Free software with some restrictions. This version must allow downloading video of any available qualities without restrictions. If you think that the current giveaway version limits the ability to download files, then write to support and we will recheck. Thanks!

Reply   |   Comment by AntDM  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Mike K., that usually happens when Youtube makes changes to their algorithm. That also changes how videos are being (down)loaded and then it requires an update of the program. Almost all downloaders out there are affected by this sooner or later.

For example, i had a older version for Eltima's Airy (v1.0) from a giveaway and it stopped working a long time ago, it only displays a message that the video couldn't be downloaded, it was also a lifetime license.

So even with lifetime license, there is a risk that the current version stops working correctly, if Youtube makes changes.

senzai6293, It could be the issue. I will see how long this version lasts. Thanks!

Reply   |   Comment by Mike K.  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

This is why they offer the giveaway version every so often so you can update from an older out of date version. You could buy a lifetime license off of their website and then you can get updates so you don't have to worry, or just keep grabbing the free giveaway version when it's available here. One day I will probably buy a lifetime license to get constant updates since this program is so useful for me.
