SuperUtils Software announces a buy-one-get-one-free sale on their audio book player plus downloader! Till August 14th, 2013 purchase a license for Angel's Vox and get the single user license for the audio book downloader completely free of charge. Or vice versa: buying Audiobook Downloader Pro, you will get the player at no cost!
Audio Speed Changer Pro lets you to accelerate/decelerate MP3/OGG/WMA/WAV/MP4 audio files without changing the pitch. It is primarily intended for speeding up audio books as well as podcasts, but can be surely used with any music file.
I am experiencing the same problem as poster 2. The software shows as activated and licensed to GOTD, but there is no serial number and it still shows as a trial version and even the tutorial musical scores will not play in their entirety, which I suppose has something to do with the fact that it is a trial version?
I would like to review this software in a positive light, especially being a guitarist myself, but until this issue is resolved unfortunately I cannot, although I can say that I agree with some of the negative comparisons here with Guitar Pro - this looks to be in another ball park, and the sound on my system is very good - far better in fact in terms of samples than those of Guitar Pro, although I have not heard the guitar samples yet. Would the publisher kindly respond - this is the second post requesting installation support. Thank you.

I downloaded and installed Angel Vox without any problems but when I downloaded and installed the Audiobook Downloader Pro software, I only get the 30 day trial version. Since I have a registered copy of Angel Vox I was under the impression that I would get the full registered version of the downloader Pro program. Since this is a GAOD program (Angel Vox) and is registered as such, does that mean we are not eligible for the Audiobook Downloader Pro (other than the 30 day trial version)?
If I have to pay for the Downloader program in 30 days then this program is of no use to me and i will uninstall it promptly.
Thanks for the clarification.

@Mario, #26 - Angel's Vox DOES NOT depend on the Audiobook Downloader Pro. It's nice to have it as an addition to search for available free books but you can get thousands of free books and podcasts all over the net. Gutenberg and LibriVox alone can keep you going for a lifetime...
As far as the app itself - 1st impression: BUGGY and initially - a little scary (but I found a fix).
Here is what I mean - a previous free offering (Zemana AntiLogger) detected a keylogging activity by MMShellHook.dll - a file within both the regular and the portable versions: http://my.jetscreenshot.com/20413/20130808-yrkp-150kb
This was triggered by my attempt to change something in the Settings (Edit tab): http://my.jetscreenshot.com/20413/20130808-cqis-55kb
After I blocked the file, two things happened. First - the program shut down by itself (both windows simply disappeared) - and second - the entire functionality was terminated. I mean, I couldn't re-launch the app from the Start Menu, from the Shortcut or from the actual .exe file within C:Program Files
I had to uninstall and re-install. The 2nd time around though, I didn't want to take any chances, so I disabled the MMShellHook.dll capability to launch. Never got the keylogging warning again.
However, the bug with the shutdown persisted. It turns out, every time I try to "Enable multimedia key support" in Settings, the program shuts down. I tested ticking the "multimedia support" box by itself and also asking for "More precise seeking and length detection" (2nd option on the same menu). The app would always shut down. On re-launch, the selections would be lost: http://my.jetscreenshot.com/20413/20130808-fkuw-57kb
If I only checked the "More precise seeking and length detection" box, the change is accepted and only the Settings window closes, so I can continue to use the rest of the app. It appears that only the "multimedia support" selection triggers the bug.
The developer might want to look into it. It happens on my Vista, 32-bit machine. Could be an isolated issue but still... something to work on for the next version.
Overall though, I'm happy with the software and now with the workaround fix for the shell file, I think it's a keeper. And in combo with the Downloader Pro, it's simply priceless. Thumbs UP! And thanks for the offering.

I absolutely love the previous version of this program which is on my desktop computer but not on the laptop I am currently forced to use as I am in a hospital. I keep trying to download this offer but get error messages saying that the download cannot be saved. I am kind of bummed out about this since it is a program that I would use every day. I download lots of audio books from various sources and this absolutely the best program for listening to them.

I am not reviewing this software because I think that has been covered, pretty much, already. Instead I am offering a "Share Your Ideas" suggestion... I am doing that here because the regular facility above would not take any of the 'confirmation codes' asked for before being posted.
So, here we go:
I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT :
Aside from the portable version, it would REALLY make sense to offer and Android and an iOS (iPad-iPhone) version. In such a case, I would make it possible to synch everything with one's main computer complete with bookmarks and other features/settings. This would fulfill a complete across-the-board handling of all eBook portability and probably make it the industry standard. Great software !!

Giovanni thanks also, I agree with Laslo, WorkAudio book seems like a fantastic application, I have just down loaded it & had a quick "play" with a French audio file & am very very impressed! I have been learning French for the past 4 0r 5 years & have trawled the Internet for a freeware app on many occasions, but not recently, so maybe that's why I missed this absolute gem, but yet again Giovanni comes up with fantastic freeware alternatives, as well as some of the most measured & informed comments on this site along with Ashrif & several other regulars who do not just base there comments & ratings on wether they have a need for the day's offering.
Now if this program also had a slow down function, it would be absolutely perfect as far as I am concerned & from the freeware & trialware I used & tried, I would say it would then be the best freeware or commercial software for this purpose out there, so huge thanks to the author as well.
Has anyone else have any other suggestions especially with regard to language learning or audio players that can slow down audio without altering pitch?
Because of the many I have tried especially freeware, I have found none to beat the quality of that provide by the slow down function in Microsoft's very own media player, to my ears it still has the most natural sounding output at half normal speed (50%), many others have a tinny echo like sound at this sort of speed reduction.
To finish, a big thank you to SuperUtils for making this application available again for free Especially the portable version. I installed it the last time it was on this site & found it pretty good, but would need a lot of improvements others are suggesting to put it in front of freeware alternatives, before I would shell out $29.95 being asked for.

To #11 how did you register Audiobook Downloader Pro?
Tried downloading it as said through Angel’s Vox but it didn’t register
I think the information would be of great interest to users of this GAOTD.
Many thanks to anyone who can help !

Really nice programme (which I've been using since v1.4). Thanks SuperUtils!
My only real complaint is the lack of WMA support as some library digital content is only available in that format (I'd love .aa support, too!).
@32 / Joe T: Since (at least) v1.6, dedicated multimedia Play/Pause keys will toggle between play/pause and Back/Forward media keys will move previous/next file in the audiobook. I believe the Stop key also works.
I, too, wish there was support for, at least, the 5-sec back/forward skips, but since the app doesn't map those functions to dedicated keys, it could be problematic for someone working on another task whilst playing AngelsVox in the background. I'd be willing to sacrifice certain keystroke combos, though, to map those functions the way universal spell-check apps do (Oh, vendor... are you listening?).

Note that this GOTD is also offering a portable version which can be loaded on USB sticks and presumably reinstalled.
Thanks and extra kudos for that!

I don't know how to respond to some of the complaints. Requires software that costs? Doesn't change pitch? What software were they testing?
Long term user from their previous GAOTDs. Very robust program, no problems ever encountered in previous versions. I only wish they had a reduced-price offer today.
Anyway, here's my use case: I use this program mostly every day for listening to podcasts in the background when doing mindless tasks. Set at 1.25x or 1.5x speed, it's pitch controlled. It has keyboard shortcuts for skipping 5 sec. forwards and backwards to skip commercials or dopey content, and also 30 sec. forwards. You can also physically delete the files from the PC from this program, which I like. Just needs some kind of remote control, so that you can play/pause/stop/skip without bringing the window to the top. (Maybe there's some way using some other program, but I don't know how.)
Definite thumbs up from me, one of my favorite GAOTDs.
Caveat: haven't yet tested this version, as I'm stuck in a long fight with my misbbehaving PC, which is currently restoring.

#26 Mario
Thanks. I've installed it since I wrote that comment, and find that it is a different player from iTunes. It seems to be devoted completely to Audio Books, and as such seems user friendly and very clear in its delivery (there is one ebook included in the instal).
It doesn't attempt to steal iTunes library. In fact it doesn't even recognise the format of those files, so it is obviously dedicated to audio files only.
As #25 Mario said, Angel's Vox seems to depend on Audiobook downloader which is for sale by the same company as Angel's Vox. It can't load ebooks downloaded directly from Librevox. Since I won't be buying Audiobook downloader, I'll just uninstall today's GAOTD, but thanks anyway.

this program depends on other programs to run. like Audiobook downloader pro v 1.4 by superutils.com and that software cost after the trial end. seemed like a good program, but it will cost you in the long run so I will be uninstalling this program. hope Goatd have a good one tomorrow.

Just above the red stop button there are two little yellow arrows in a box, this controls whether changes made to the slider are for the tempo or for the pitch.
The developer really needs to add either tutorial or small help file.

My regular player is iTunes, which is as heavy as a ton of feathers. If I install this, will the 2 conflict with each other until I become conversant with Angel’s Vox?
For one thing, I wouldn't want a double up of music libraries, which is what happens if you install MS' Windows Media Player.

Regarding slowing down: My grandfather had a stroke which took away his ability to read (which, next to cooking, was his favorite hobby) and slowed down his language comprehension. He got books on tape, and would slow them down so he could understand them better. This would have been perfect for him. There are lots of reasons for slowing down audio...

Completing my review.
1. No help file. A forum does not compensate for the lack of it
2. No language file
3. Although it's mentioned in the features, cannot find anything in the user interface related to bookmarks
4. As someone mentioned it already, there's no possibility to repeat a part of the audio.
5. Moving forward/backward through the file is a bit broken or unfinished: you've got to grab the cursor to have it work properly, clicking on the cursor line does not work
I restarted the programm and opened an .mp3 file. Tried also with an .aac file. Curiously, everything works.
But the sample audiobook is still running in the background.
Is it because it's an .ogg file? If so, providing a kind of file that makes the software fail is quite amusing.
On the positive side, I can use this software as a music player as I have a lot of .mp3, .aac and .mp4 files. It's only 2 MB, low on resources. In this situation, it would be perfect if it could read .FLV files as well.
- - - -
Note for the ones who wonder whether the software can be run under Linux. Should you have read the "whatsnew.txt" file, on line 5 you'll have found an answer. LOL.

Downloaded and installed the portable version on XP Pro SP3.
There is a serious problem here.
None of these actions has any effect after I started the sample audiobook :
- closing the program !!!
- stop playing !!!
- using the cursor to move inside the book
- speed control
- mute
- volume control
- impossibility to get the sound level down to zero
(haven't tried other commands)
The audiobook cannot be stopped. I have to cut the sound off to not hear it. After scanning the processes (hidden or not), I could not find anything. The only solution : restart the damn Windows.

To #14 Sorry How did I register Audiobook Downloader Pro?
In 'file' you find : Run Audiobook Downloader. This give me a connection to the Audiobook Downloader Pro from GOTD 2011, who was already on my PCc (but I was forgotten. Now (its a pitty) it gives only a link in your browser to the downloadpage. Not so dramatic because (my old version from) Audiobook Downloader Pro will only download from http://librivox.org/. Even without the downloadprogram the files from librivox.org are free for everyone.

Several years ago I bought the audio-speed-changer-pro of just the same company as Angel's voice. I selected that program out of a lot of offers because it offered the least distortions of the sound when lowering the speed. So, I have some doubt whether a program's inclusion of a speed changer gives you always the same sound quality. I used speed change facilities when I started to learn a new foreign language. A situation in which you may be particularly pretentious.

Downloaded, installed, and registered on XP SP3 without a hitch.
This is the second time I've downloaded Angelvox, and I'm extremely satisfied with both the PC and the portable versions. It's easy to load up with audio books and a pleasure to operate.
Load it with kiddies ebooks, and keep them occupied on those long drives. Thanks SuperUtils.com and GAOTD.

The quick correction to my previous comment, the pitch does change but it is not enough to be objectionable.

This GAOTD is an excellent and very handy product, especially for those people out there who are eager to learn a foreign languages at home(want to learn a foreign language? Hey dudes, why pay tons of money for nothing?? I learned English for FREEEEEE...LOL!!), since it enables you to speed up or slow down playback with ease.
So it's not an ordinary audio player, as someone wrongly said here, because it's designed for AUDIOBOOKS, which are in my view the best way to learn a foreign language with ease (but I quite understand that English native speakers crowding this forum usually don't need to learn a foreign language, thus don't care or don't figure out the importance of tools like this GAOTD).
This GAOTD supports batch mode and both MP3 and OGG audio file formats, with the ability to integrate itself with Windows Explorer.
Overall, if you are an AUDIOBOOK enthusiast, this is a MUST HAVE TOOL; if not, just skip it but do not give it a THUMBS DOWN

People who are learning languages will understand me: a software like this which can speed up playback or can slow it down is very usefull.
BUT without the control of the pitch an more important without the function A to B repeat, it become useless.
VLC (freeware) can control the speed with the keys + and- and has the function A to B repeat. In that case why to choose Angel’s Vox 1.7 ?

When I installed this I found that it was not what I had hoped for but was so impressed by the interface that I decided to give it a try.
I really like the lovely clean interface, for someone older like myself it really helps, and I'll agree that as some of the comments have noted VLC is very similar in many respects.
One important difference for anyone learning a language, when the speech is slowed down or speed up the pitch does not change and it is not done in steps but has a variable range, this is not the case in VLC. It certainly will be a great help to the lady who comes and helps me with my housework, she is trying to learn English.
A nicely presented well thought out piece of software, and for anyone who likes audio books it looks pretty good to me

Great program for audiobooks, especially those in foreign languages or those attempting to teach foreign languages.
And that answers lostinlodos's question above as to why it even offers speed changing -- it does help to sometimes slow down the audio if you're attempting to learn a new language. This is also mentioned in the website description, too.

Maybe it's me; but I see NO benefit for buying this over using the free VLC Player.
Infact I see the "values" being touted as a selling point to be worthless.
Change speed? Of AUDIO? Am I missing something here? Talk about distorting and destroying a book on tape (aka audio book).
There's nothing in here that VLC Player doesn't do out of the box; or mPlayer, or dozens of other totally free apps.

I love Angel's Vox. It hasn't been offered in a long time but the BEST thing about it is the SPEED changer in the playback. I know that Winamp does it as do a few others, but Angel's VOX does it, at least to my ears, the best. It does not come out choppy and blocky but still real sounding. I like this software and am glad to have it again. Thanks.

They're products that have been offered here, this one and the downloader are quite good.
Angel's Vox has some very useful audiobook specific features that I love, the only reason I have not purchased is that my Main OS, where I primarily play my audio books is Linux.
If they were available for Linux it would be an instabuy.
