There re a couple of registry cleaners available all over the internet these days. Onus lies on you in researching and selecting the best registry cleaner that suits your needs

Regcure is another great product. Its not free but it beats out every other registry cleaner for thoroughness. Ccleaner is good but it doesn't have the support that Regcure does or for that matter other top registry repair software. I don't about AMUST registry cleaner. It's probably just a rebranded version of one of the other registry cleaners that are better known so it probably does a good job as well.

This is very good registry repair software.I used it on my very slow laptop computer and it returned the machine to good smooth fast running in no time. Software such as this is essential for all windows PCs. The registry becomes choked with excess unwanted data and this slow the computer down noticeably.A good registry repair application such as this will make a huge difference to performance.

There's so much crap out there these days. Like commented above, trust is of paramount importance, if you install the wrong cleaner it can thoroughly disrupt your computer. I have a site reviewing a couple of well known cleaners here: Best registry cleaner Come check it out.

My first Windows computer came with XP. It worked great at first and then it gradually started to slow down. I didn't know what to do. A friend told me about Regedit which comes with Windows. It is a way to manually go into the registry and edit it. I tried it without really knowing what to do. To make a long story short, I removed something I shouldn't have and my computer wouldn't boot up. I ended up re-installing Windows XP and losing my data. After reading and trying to learn what I did wrong, I found information on registry cleaners. I first used a free one and it found errors in my registry and removed them without problems. Now, I use a more advanced version I bought and it works really well with my Windows Vista machine. I would not be without my registry cleaner today. It is as important to me as my anti-virus and spyware programs.

Everyone told me that it is easy to go into the registry and just delete the item you needed to delete. I thought I knew about computers until I crashed mine because I didn't follow the instructions explicitly. I learned my lesson and am very careful with the windows registry.

I have had trouble in the past with my windows registry. I have messed around it myself because I though I could fix something simply. I ended up crashing the computer. I had a hard time even getting to my restore points to restore to a previous session. Now I use a competent windows registry cleaner to help navigate my windows registry.

AMUST worked perfectly on my notebook and desktop. I would suggest anyone that can't repair XP manually after a registry screwup don't run anything that deals with the registry. Also, stay inside and lock your doors. You aren't smart enough to use a computer or go outside.

This is my first time posting for a giveaway. I just had to 'cause I was very impressed. This is a great registry cleaner; the best I've used so far, and I've toyed with quite a few. This one does things a little differently, and is slower than most, but in my opinion it is more effective. I experienced noticeable performance improvements on my PC, which is something I never got with other reg cleaners. Even more important, it did not mess anything up : -) And I LOVE the included Disk Cleaner!! Very simple to use, pretty fast, and it provides one of the best graphical representations of disk space usage that I've ever seen. It's well worth $30.00, but I'm so glad I got mine for free : -D THANK YOU!

Just use ccleaner now and then, and further the best thing to do is a good old format, sure you have to reinstall stuff but you can't get it cleaner than that.

Well yes this is ANOTHER registry cleaner and since I am in the market for a good registry cleaner (as soon as I learn a little more about what the registry really is about in relation to my computer's health). I appreciate the information that is provided by each of these programs. Each runs a scan of what it thinks is wrong with my registry allowing me to further research the program claims. The nice part of every registry "fixer" program that you have offered has been the ability for the program to simply report it's findings without taking action.

The second portion of this offering was Disk Cleaner. I am not exactly sure what the Disk Cleaner utility does and what it is checking for but because I regularly clean my disk via the standard OS avenues and do regular defrags, this may be why Disk Cleaner appeared to find nothing.

AMUST allowed me to print out and save as a text file a report of it's findings (VERY NICE) so that I could systematically decide the importance of the program's suggestions for registry cleanup.
I am still unsure of what (other than adding or removing new software) updates the registry and how multiple users comes into play. The one thing that the site showed me was how to access the registry entries along with a bit of information on that aspect of my computer. We all would like to sit back and trust a program that works properly every time, but it appears from the posts and the ominous warnings of all these programs that no matter which program you choose that will fiddle with your registry, one must always remember USER BEWARE, and USER BE EDUCATED.

What does this do apart from giving a grafic indication of ones disk space I find this misleading. (maybe I'm doing something wrong) Can someone give me a hint????

I have tried this program out on both my laptop and tower and noooooooooo problems.

#48, i don't know about how thorough it restores other parts of registry, but at least one part of registry is not resotored after a system restore: the part storing all the restore points. there's documentation about this on micro$oft's official site. after a manually thorough registry restore, system restore does not even know any restore point created after that backup

In your write up in the amust registry cleaner you mention it fixes
all errors. But after downloading and installing the software I find
it fixes only 118 errors. For others I have to purchase the software.
Is it fair? There are any number of such trial version softwares available in the net.

Well as like most of you i did not think i needed another registry cleaner either. but i downloaded this one anyway just to see it in action and to see what kind of settings and options it had. it has a good set of options to it so if you don't backup your registry first then you might have some problems with it or any other registry cleaner out there. so far it has done a good job at cleaning out some useless garbage from the registry and i have seen an improvement in the speed of my computer but i have also checked the advanced settings in it and then did the scans then i reviewed every error it was claiming i had then i choose the ones i knew were definitely problems and removed them only ! my point is the software can only tell you what it believes to be an invalid registry error you need to spend sometime reviewing what it finds before you delete anything some people just don't take the time! and end up with major problems afterwards. but over all i would rate this program at a 8 out of 10 and like some others have said already don't knock it until you tryed it out first.

#84, #93, #100, I bask in your approbation!

#93, WhiteRabbit, I look forward with great anticipation to reading your report detailing how AMUST Disk Cleaner, which has absolutely no cleaning features, allowed you to "clean your disc."

#104, P[]-[]0Cet, while Ccleaner is one of the better (and free) registry/maintenance programs, some people have experienced problems using it similar to the ones you encountered with System Mechanic. I seriously doubt any registry cleaning software hasn't erroneously deleted necessary registry keys in someone's PC. Some registry cleaners are certainly safer than others, but all require careful review by users. One problem is the average (and even generally well-informed) PC user is incapable of making 100% correct judgments when reviewing the often lengthy list of "errors/issues/problems" detected by registry cleaners (which rarely provide much in the way of useful information explaining why an item is allegedly invalid).

Another problem is weeks or months may elapse after cleaning your registry before you happen to use a program and discover it's now crippled or completely inoperative. Years ago when I was experimenting with Ccleaner and Easy Cleaner, one of them disabled my PC's help and support function (this was back when I was relying on BillW50-approved System Restore and ERUNT and prior to becoming one of the Enlightened Ones using an immediate system recovery and/or imaging backup program). After System Restore, ERUNT, and the cleaning programs' backups failed to correct the problem, I eventually located the correct system file then created a new Desktop shortcut. Now, I won't let any registry cleaner make any "corrections" to a PC's help and support keys.

"AMUST offers two modes: Basic (where it automatically fixes any issues) and Advanced (where you review detected problems then authorize any corrections). These may more properly be labeled Moron and Non-Moron modes as only an imbecile would allow registry changes without reviewing them first. AMUST’s scan found 111 “issues,” 100 of these being “invalid or malformed Class identification.” One of the biggest problems for users of registry cleaning programs is reviewing the alleged problems detected and deciding whether they’re genuine errors or valid items. When using Tune Up Utilities, I can almost always match every detected problem with a recent file deletion or program uninstallation. AMUST’s 111 issues were new ones for me. AMUST provides a web link for each detected issue for the ostensible purpose of providing you with additional information. In the vast majority of instances this was useless. Continually repeating the definition of “ClassID” or “toolbar” didn’t tell me why a registry key was invalid. In a few instances, however, AMUST’s links actually contained helpful information." -- Karen (#79)

I downloaded and installed the program. But I won't be using it, pretty much for the reasons that Karen gives above. I want to have some sense of what I am deleting from the registry and why. AMUST didn't provide that, at least not for me. YMMV.

Thanks but no Thanks. I only use ccleaner aka "Crap Cleaner." My registry was fouled beyond repair by a retail application I bought at BestBuy known as "System Mechanic" and I lost 3 weeks of pay because it deleted something in my registry it wasn't supposed to. This resulted in not only losing my work, but a forced hard drive reformat and re-installation of Windows 2003 Server. I can't imagine having that problem again because just because I wanted to try AMUST Registry Killer, whether its free or not, it's just too risky. I now make it a rule to never allow virtually unknown or unproven registry cleaners tinker or mess around with my Windows registry. You will be sorry if AMUST thinks it should "FIX" something critical that Windows needs.

What may appear as a harmless "DLL" file or "missing file handler" or shortcut could spell doom for your PC and everything in it. Don't say you were not warned.

Instead, I recommend you use the tiny, unobtrusive program known the world over as "Ccleaner," perhaps the best Registry fixer, cleaner and maintenance program ever written, boasting over 50 million happy worldwide users and still to this day, 100% absolutely free, no strings attached, no ads, popups or spyware. Ccleaner should be your only solution to Windows registry problems.

Here is the website: http://www.ccleaner.com/ And here is the direct download link: http://download.piriform.com/ccsetup137.exe

I will never touch another registry cleaner with a 10-foot pole. I used Advanced WindowsCare 2 received from GOTD and I totally messed up my work computer, one could not even start it any more. That was a lesson for me, fortunately the IT department did not kill me. I will still use it at home, but not the registry cleaner part of it. So, I will keep clear of this one.

Hi Ballpeen,
Re your comment #41, I use Smart Undelete and Kernel Undelete, although the program I purchased (that I nentioned was $60 I complained about and had my money returned. Can't remember what it was called now, but as Smart Undelete was $20 cheaper and did the same job, I saw no reason to keep it. At least the company stuck by their policy of returning cash within a certain deadline if you were unsatisfied.

Thanks BillW50 ;) Your comments are always appreciated. Even the winding up ones, lol.
