Magic Uneraser 3.8 Home Edition is my free go to. Fast scan. Can choos just what want to recovered and where (usually to dif drive than source).

Does not support XP, only supports Win 2003 and above. Not for me. Thanks anyway.

Every attempt to scan a drive resulted in a crash so I deleted it.

MS, doesn't even acknowledge CD/DVD drives... to bad, would have made this a nice Recovery App. Not many do address CD/DVD's.

This program can't even see any of my network drives! They are mapped as T: etc and the software IGNORES THEM!!! Because of this limitation, and who knows how many other limitations, I would not recommend this software!

Tony, "network drives"
What kind of OS controls the NAS? Today's software is for Windows.
And network drives will be accessed by software and has to work with network-protocols.
Most of the time you can not format such a drive from a workstation.
You have to login in the server-software to recover a file.
And a server should make often a back-up. So this kind of software is not needed.

I got here there was 23 hours 50 minutes remaining to the download of this item. There is now 22 hours 17 minutes left. Since I want NO part of Twitter, Facebook et al. I decided to do the e-mail route. Previous links were sent to me promptly.

I tried to recover a few deleted .mov video files from a 16gb memory card recorded with a Canon Ixus camera. The files were saved but I was not able to playback the videos. Only noise and black screen. Seems that most recovery programs, included this one, are not able to save deleted .mov files.

Adrian, the recovered files could be played, but the contents was corrupted, only black screen and noisy sound.

.mov and .mp4 files are a pain in the neck to repair. All other video formats are recovered OK by this and others data recovery softwares.

.mov have a header that gets easily corrupted and if the header is corrupted, you can say goodbye to your file...
