Your demo material of the product is very poor and confusing. You need to redo this material with a talking sound track.

Windows 7, SP1 computer. Downloaded, installed and registered without issue. Visited vendor's website and tried downloading a plugin called ImagesIntoHTML.zip. My up-to-date 360 Total Security antivirus flagged the file as containing Trojan Virus (HEUR/QMV27.0.0000.Malware.Gen).

Could the vendor please comment?

Not suitable for me, tho tempting. Nor is Zotero (which is not really like this program). I use NotesHolder (and a couple text files in the Links Toolbar) for Sticky-Note type stuff.
This does look useful if I was researching off the web more, or Blogging.

Another important question for me, I hope this makes sense, can I put notes under notes in a tree? Or are only the nodes organized in a tree? If only the nodes are tree structured, can I type on the node itself? I need to be able to add new notes under existing notes in tree form without having to create new nodes and then copy the existing notes to them. TreeDBNotes can do this but I'm looking for a replacement for it.

Ken Williams, Why don't you just download the program and have a play around with it... Or, contact the developer.. Plus look on their products homepage to learn more about it... Download it and see whether it can answer your questions.

C West, I admit I have a resistance to installing these things until I'm pretty sure I"ll use it. It goes wrong so often. I don't know if the developer would even know what I'm talking about. I was hoping maybe someone else might understand and have this same requirement and recommend something else that can do this. After seeing the Youtube video I'm 80% sure this one can't.

Ken Williams,
If you select a node you can put the child nodes under it they also can have child nodes under them.
The upper-level node can be contracted or expanded giving a nice way of organising your information.

The registration procedure is less painful than the instructions make it seem. There's a lot going on in the program itself, so I think there will definitely be a learning curve, but it looks like it will be useful to me. Thanks very much, GAOTD and G&G Software!

15 days free updates?

Angelo Pugliese, yes, it says free updates for only a couple of weeks, but the program itself is a lifetime license, so I don't think there's really anything to complain about. :-)

Angelo Pugliese, why not? Usually we don't get any updates . . .

When you have installed the program, you have an option under File dropdown, to start the program as portable. Then you can move it to an USB stick!
Nice ;)

Very nice software to keep all your notes, information, web pages on a single page.
As I can see there are a lot of options requiring a steep learning curve at beginning (not very intuitive in my opinion).

Supports integration with Dropbox, Evernote, LeaderTask, as well as tables and figures.

So far I've used ZOTERO, which is FREE:

No sure what is better though....

After "Successfully activated" it won't install under Windows 10. It was so with many other GOTD offerings before that they couldn't be installed.
There isn't any problem with XP.

Janos, if you have any secure protections program like AVG, IOBit malware protection, Secure Aplus etc. You have to dissable the protection during install!

You lost me at "keeps all your passwords".
Thanks, but no thanks, I have software that does that for me (Sticky Password) and I don't trust any company or software that I've never heard of or seen recommended with such sensitive data.

The tree Logic is cool, but the password integration is not.
I will pass on this offer also today.

Kind regards
Richard

RSebire, I don't think it's helpful to discount an entire software program because you are nervous about using one of its aspects. Why not benefit from the program, and just not use it for something as sensitive as passwords??

Reply   |   Comment by M. Aronson  –  9 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+38)

@M. Aronson and @RSebire,

Regarding RSebire's concern...it is a real concern. It is actually a concern with any client software you install directly on your computer, but since this program specifically says it can save passwords, that concern is not unwarranted here.

This program, and in fact any Windows program that has "global keyboard shortcuts" uses a facility of Windows called a global keyboard hook. Effectively every keystroke you make goes through all the installed hook functions. Typically programs ignore most of the keys and pay attention to only their specific keyboard shortcuts. However, there's nothing stopping a global hook function from storing every keystroke, or even sending that data elsewhere. If that sounds familiar, it is - that is what keylogger malware does. (Keyloggers, though, try very hard to hide themselves, which Aml Pages likely does not.)

That said, RSebire, I don't think Aml Pages is a malicious keylogger. You could monitor network traffic to see what kind of outgoing connections the program makes, but that's no real guarantee. You could probably get away with doing what M. Aronson suggested - just don't give it any passwords, and if you can find an option to disable that functionality in the program's options, disable it. The program will still have a global hook, but hopefully won't be actively hassling you about it all the time.

Best to both of you,
Bryan
