Hello Sheila,

you said:

"I have installed the software (I think) but when it tries to run, my computer goes into a loop looking for something called PICO. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!"

This is not related to AllWebMenus (it does not need anything like that). What happens is that you had canceled the installation of another program sometime (even days or weeks before) and the Windows "Installer" is triggered when the AllWebMenus.exe opens (this happens to some PC configurations). Just cancel that other installation and continue working with AllWebMenus.

If you still have problems please contact us at support[AT]likno[DOT]com and we will help you.

@78 OMW, Paul, since when is having a name similar to a celebrity's a crime? Read the comments in this string by people like me who have been using AllWebMenus for years, and look at the Likno website - you should be able to assess that this is a bona fide company with a good reputation, without insulting their staff!

Suzan, not to be trite, but your ‘screen name’ looks fake … at least if you’ve ever seen any reality talent show. If you really are Susan Boyle… or rather, Suzan Doyle, maybe it would be more convincing if you used a ‘more original’ screen name.

That coupled with the non-native-speaker idiom strongly suggests a foreign origin. Sometimes foreigners adopt English-sounding names because they assume the xenophobia of americans makes them less likely to buy anything written elsewhere and that's understandable; other times it's to disguise the origin such as when it's chinese spyware or russian mob funded malware, but this company seems to be based in Greece and disguising their origin doesn't make a lot of sense.

Wow, I actually bought an earlier version of this some time ago. Surprised to see this here. If you do any website creation, I'd certainly vouch for this, having paid for and used it. This has been around for some time, and it's pretty solid. I think the menu selection is decent, and it's relatively easy to get up to speed with it.

The last digit should be xxxx3 on the website portion.Mine automatically entered as xxxx7. I had to closed and restart the program 5 times before it enter the right code. Even tried manually typing in the code.

Once all was done everything worked great on my windows 8 64. I am not keeping it though. I don't need it.

@Ralph Bressler I searched the web for ieframe.dll and error code 372. Indeed, it is part of IE. After trying various recommendations for updating/fixing ieframe.dll, I resorted to upgrading the browser from IE9 to IE 10. The problem persists.

I wrote in hours ago but it has not appeared here yet. I have the same problem as Devonne (54). I click on "Take me there" and it just shows a white, totally blank page. Same when I click on the help button and activate here buttons. I get nothing. I really want this program and need a reply of how to get to the activation page. I have read the setup and it does not address this issue. I am running W7 64bit. Please help before the deadline.

AllWebMenus 5 Pro is flawed. The download and installation were smmoth. However, when I try to run the program, I get a pop-up error that says "Failed to load control 'WebBrowser' from ieframe.dll. Your version of ieframe.dll may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of control that was provided with your application."

I am using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9 (before upgrading to Internet Explorer 10. The ieframe.dll file on my computer is up to date. clearly, the problem is with AllWebMenus installation file.

@EB - When you create an account using your email address there are many benefits. Likno routinely sends emails with detailed descriptions of updates. This way you do not have to keep going to their site to check for the latest changes. In addition, you can get new activation codes and manage your licenses from your account. They have stated that they do not sell email addresses and while I cannot prove they do not, I trust them. Their registration is cumbersome but they should be allowed to keep their registration the way it is and not have to adapt to GOTD. Overall, this is a rather specialized program and the company provides excellent support.

@viktor - If you are comparing AllWebMenus to ccleaner then you probably should not have installed it in the first place. Do you design websites for which you need a menu system? If so you should understand what the program does. If not, you are correct, you do not need it.

Very nice program. I had never heard of it before. It downloaded and activated fine (just follow the instructions).

I'm posting a little late because I really wanted to play around with it. I tried it with Dreamweaver, Expression, Xara and HTML-Kit. It worked equally well regardless of the web-editing program (as expected from standards compliant software). The AddIns for Dreamweaver and Expression are optional free downloads on their website. They seemed to work fine.

Overall, I'd say this one is a real keeper. I will definately check out linko's other software.
Thanks GOTD!!!

While installing I noticed the Microsoft Expression Web Add-in only is for Expression Web 2. Since Microsoft ExpressionWeb is now at version 4, does this mean this menu tool cannot be used with Microsoft Expression Web 4? also, what about Microsoft Visual Studio? Can this tool create menus for .aspx pages?

One might be mistaken for thinking that their convoluting registration process is purely for the process of email harvesting. Is this true or would the company like to assure users that they do not sell on email addresses?

If not - what is the reason and why can they not use the simple process adopted by most of GOTD programs and agree the ".gcd" activation procedure?

@Anna - Did you try searching the web for ieframe.dll? I did and got several answers. ieframe.dll appears to be "part" of IE. I couldn't decide if the answers were good answers or would solve the problem since I don't have the error on my machine.

Devonne, do not worry, I believe that this is related to a 3rd party software (maybe antivirus with a false positive?) that may not allow the DLL of the activation form to launch. Please contact us at SUPPORT[AT]LIKNO[DOT]COM and we will take care of your registration. If we do not respond today (office hours are OFF) do not worry about the deadline, you will definitely get your free license, we will take care of it tomorrow.

@55 "Comment by Steve — March 20th, 2013 at 2:49 pm"

Users with a previous commercial license can use this version for commercial purposes too, so this is not a problem. Just install that version and get a GAOTD Activation Code (through the specified process).

Hello,

this is Suzan from Likno Software team.

Some replies here:

@42 "Comment by Melika — March 20th, 2013 at 10:42 am"

We are sorry to hear that you did not use the special upgrade price for the GAOTD users when you wanted to purchase the commercial license. This is automatic, you just needed to log in using the email that you gave during the previous GAOTD promotion. If you had problems and did not find such an option, why didn't you just contact us? We would solve the problem immediately.

As mentioned above, for GOTD users the first upgrade to a commerical license is 20% cheaper, and for existing PRO users the Update Plan extension can be as low as $24 per year (paid ONLY when you need the update, so it could be evern 2 years afterwards). It is also cheaper if you extend for more years at once.

Related to the sliding menu, please contact us at our support if you have problems with its customization.

@43 "Comment by K Bell — March 20th, 2013 at 10:48 am"

The only reason that you did not see an Expression Web 4 Add-in (contrary to 1 and 2) is that it is not needed! Expression Web 4 is different in many aspects and you can directly link the menus to the web pages without any Add-in necessary.

@45 "Comment by Ruth — March 20th, 2013 at 12:12 pm"

Yes, you can use unlimited horizontal and vertical menus (simultaneously) on the same web page/site.

@46 "Comment by Gerhard Nell — March 20th, 2013 at 12:22 pm"

This is strange, I personally use Windows 8 and do not have difficulties with the menu items of the application. We will appreciate if you could send us screenshots at SUPPORT[AT]LIKNO[DOT]COM so that we see the problem and find a solution.

INstalled & activated ok on my Win7-64 system. GOt the separate add-on for Expression Web 4 OK and that also installed fine.

Set up a menu OK, compiled OK, but linking to my web page failed to display the menu. I tried this with both a DWT and a plain web page - no matter what I did no menu appeared. Tested with both Chrome & IE10.

I tried linking from the application and from inside Expression Web - the link code is in the HTML but no menu is displayed. I get no errors or any indication that anything is wrong.

Will try again to see if I can identify some sort of problem - I must be missing something somewhere. But what could it be?

@Suzan: I purchased a license for AllWebMenus Pro several years ago. The upgrade period on that has expired. If I install today's giveaway version, will I be able to use the new build under the terms of the Pro license? In other words, is it okay for commercial use, or just for personal use?

And if it's personal use only, can I install the new build separately so I don't lose my purchased license privileges for the older build?

Thanks.

Thank you to Likno and GOTD. I had the previous GOTD version and updating to this one was a breeze.

Likno is one of those rare vendors that provides their actual setup file so you can reinstall this same version and you are only limited by the number of activations you have remaining. You start off with four which should be sufficient.

There were a couple of times since the giveaway when I had to reinstall Windows from scratch and I was still able to install Likno's software again. That's a rarity with giveaways and is much appreciated.

Re #31--it's great that you take the time out to provide alternatives for us all but they do not always provide the same functionality as what is being offered here. At least a couple of your free suggestions are only free for non-commercial (Wow Slider and CSS3 Menu).

Thank you for providing this software, and to Suzan for taking the time to respond. Installation was fine on Windows 7, and it looks quite impressive.

Could you please tell me clearly - I am sorry if I missed this in the license etc. - if I can use this version to build the menus for my clients' commercial web sites?

Also regarding @39 and Suzan's reply about building dynamic menus using UL/LI, could you tell me how to find this in the Help info?

And to everyone, this is my first comment, but really, I find this site just as wonderful for the useful suggestions and advice in your comments, as for the interesting software.

Thanks again.

@ Ralph: I just ran into this issue with the Web Accordion Builder where the menu stopped working after the latest browser/Javascript updates. It was a big pain in the rear requiring me to recreate the menu on my own), and it is something for people to think about when trying this program if they use it to build a menu but really aren't sure they will be purchasing the full license.

When I visited the site to see about updates to purchase one, I was required to purchase the program for the full amount in order to update. So, for anyone downloading this program today, the company does not consider the program offered on GAOTD as a "full license" program. They aren't giving you the program for free today, they are giving you a trial program that is fully functional. Maybe after purchase I would be eligible for the special update price you are getting, but it wasn't available to me. When I look at my account, the impression I get is that the licensing/updates cost $65 for a year and I can purchase additional years for a special price at that time. There are some companies that run additional year specials that are not available at a later date.

I'm fine with being wrong, but $65 + $25 each year may still be too much for some people. For casual builders or builders on a tight budget, they should have a back-up plan. I'm happy you haven't run into any problems, but I did, and people need to be aware of that pitfall.

As for the give-away today, there are a few differences from the Accordion Builder I've been using. There are, of course, more choices: horizontal, vertical, fly-out, etc. I thought this program would also include the features found in the Accordion Builder, so I tried making a menu that "slides". I found that it doesn't actually slide, at least not as nicely as in the other program. It looks as if it uses a simple hide/show command, so that when you click the button for the slide effect, everything just moves. I tried playing with some of the options to see if I could re-create the effect to see that there are more advanced options that require an additional purchase ($30) to activate in the program. Casual users may not need this, but it is yet another cost to consider if that feature is something you want.

Overall, the design of the installed menus is old, boring, and just plain ugly. There is even a "Classic Windows" style that looks like it came right from 1995 and 2 with flashing backgrounds that camouflage the text. If this is like the other program, a user can create their own images and can adjust how the menus look. Unless you are making a really ugly web page, you'll use this this for the programming and not for the design.

Which script are you referring to? Can you please be more specific? Are you referring to the Account Creation page or the Activation page? Were you able to create the User Area account? If you want you can also send us a personal email in order to resolve this.

@30
Indeed our default Update Plan is for one year (and the GOTD is for 10 days), but when this is over you do not need to buy a new license! You just need to extend the Update Plan, and this is much cheaper. For GOTD users the first upgrade to a PRO license is 20% cheaper, and for existing PRO users the Update Plan extension can be as low as $24 per year (or even $16 for products that support 3-domain licenses) and it is even cheaper if you extend for more years at once.

@31

By design JavaScript is not allowed to access the local filesystem, so there is no way to have your menus access the user’s filesystem either. If you are viewing a site locally then you can have links that point to local files (as is also the case with plain HTML links), but an online site will never have access to the local files.

Indeed Java and JavaScript are two completely different things, and JavaScript (which we are using) is far more efficient and secure.

AllWebMenus does allow you to generate CSS menus that do not require any JavaScript to run, if this is what you want. Of course, in this case, some fetaures will not be supported and you will only be able to create simple menus like the ones you can create with css3menu.

PS: We also have applications for Sliders and other things, but you can see these in our site if you want.

@33
Yes the produced menus will work in all the latest browsers and mobile devices (both tablets and phones).

AllWebMenus is compatible with any CMS or builder that allows for two things:
1) you should be able to copy-paste HTML code into your pages
2) you should be able to upload the compiled files to your site (JS, CSS & image files)

@38
This is the latest AllWebMenus version, so you may as well install that one over your existing license. However, please note that no updates are supported by this GOTD license, so you will still need to purchase an Update Plan in the future in order to update.

I wonder how many people build personal non-commercial web sites with elaborate menu systems?

Hello Likno Software,
Thanks for your participation on this forum. I do appreciate such approach of software provider. I, likewise, Don have a version of your software and would like to know which version you offer today and – if it’s newer – should we uninsall the previous version before installing the newer one?
Your answer will be appreciated.
Regards
Marek

@Maureen - One visit to the developer's site would have answered your question. The developer is not responsible if other sites do not update the prices or make pricing clear. It is $65 unless you are logged in as a user and then it is $59.95

@KC - Once installed the program appeared in the "remove programs" section of the control panel and in Rev so... Many programs make changes and additions to the registry and I have never had problems/conflicts with this program and others

@Don - It is the latest build as I ran "check for updates" after installing and it reported that it was up-to-date

@AnyoneHavingInstallationProblems - READ the installation instructions and follow the on screen instructions. My only criticism of the product is that the activation process is a little convoluted. You must have the installation ID to get the activation code. I had no problems activating it but I had to follow the instructions even though I have owned the program for some time and have done it before!

@Allan - Mine was correct and worked as is

@Rajesh - When you pay for the full version, commercial use is allowed. With this GiveAway you are getting the full version so commercial use is allowed. If I was going to use this commercially, I would pay for a license and make sure I could get all the updates/upgrades as they come out. I would consider it a cost of doing business.

@Melika - Although I don't always upgrade my menus, they have always worked without a problem through several changes in JavaScript and browsers. You DO NOT have to purchase the program again! Your comments about this are very misleading. A one year update plan is $23 after the first year you get when buying the program. A 3 year plan is $62. I will admit this is still an investment for someone who is designing for community organizations but I have always maintained my plan.

@Giovanni - I am confused about your comment about Java applets. I am VERY careful about using Java but as you know JavaScript is an entirely different beast! I also use CSS3Menu but the free version can only be used on on-commercial sites. The same is true of WOW Slider. Also, there are a few other minor limitations on these free versions. I guess it may come down to your definition of "professional". The free version do create nice looking menus and sliders but they cannot be used on commercial sites. You had me excited about Formoid until I saw that it was still Beta and had no option for sending form results to e-mail. I'll try it when it is finished.

As a matter of fact in our case the updates & upgrades are the same thing… we decided to change our update policy about 4 years ago and since then everything we release is included in the so called Update Plan. This way when a user asks us for a specific feature we can release within days without having to wait for the next major release or upgrade. Also note that the Update Plan includes ALL updates/upgrades even major ones (e.g. if we decide to call the next release v6).

There are various options for creating dynamic menus – editing the compiled menu js is not one of them

If you have a CMS such as Joomla, Drupal, WordPress you can set the menu to take its structure from the CMS.

If you are using a standard site, you can either use the “Server Side API” which has full documentation on how to generate the required code using PHP, ASP or C#. Finally you also have the option to use a UL/LI structure in your page that will define the menu structure. This way you create the design you want and the end user can add/remove items by simply editing the UL/LI structure in the HTML page.

Regarding the default theme, you are correct! It is indeed the same it was 13 years ago… we chose this as the default for simplicity and we got stuck with it. Still we have added many more themes since then.

PS: It was still called Likno & AllWebMenus 13 years ago.

You should get a new window with the Activation Form, which will also be visible as a separate application instance in the task bar. If you are not seeing this, it is possible that something is blocking it. In this case you may want to send us a private email in order to resolve this.

@24
This is version 5.908. AllWebMenus v5 has been around for several years, so we cannot know if you have a new or old build.

It you go to the menu “Help -> Check For Updates” you will see exactly which version you have, the date it was released etc.

Giovanni,

You DO know that Java and Javascript are not the same, right? The Javascript menus only control the navigation within the website and not the contents of the visitor's local disk drive.

To avoid the restriction of private/personal use, upgrade to the commercial license, which is currently discounted to $52.

This is excellent software and has proven to be worth the full price to me over the years with my webpage and the many others I've developed.

Is this compatible with SquareSpace? Is the output from the program HTML that can be pasted into (almost) any CMS?
