It has a pretty interface, and I really like the author card that allows you to input the author photo and bio.

That said, it doesn't even come close to being as useful an ebook manager as Calibre, which I've used since I discovered it 13 years ago. For example, I read a lot of authors who write series' of books, so my preferred method with Calibre is to sort by series-->series number-->author, in order for the titles to appear in proper series order. This isn't possible with Alfa, which only allows one sorting method to be used at a time.

Calibre allows the installation of plugins, and gives you the ability to apply tweaks (among many other things) to suit your user preferences; Alfa does not. Also, many functions require an upgrade to the paid version, and can't be used in the GotD download. (Had I known this, I wouldn't have bothered downloading it at all.)

I do not recommend buying this app, or even bothering with the basic version. Calibre isn't as pretty, and it doesn't have an author card, but it is the superior ebook manager in every way--and it's FREE.

looks nice but doesnt include the ability to run as a book server so you can get it on other devices on your network. main reason i use calibre

When I click on "open book file", it asks me to insert a disk.

The file I created that it supposedly saved my books to is empty. There's a default database containing 15 books, a few which I have on my computer, but most of them I don't. Plus, I'll be damned if I can see how to open a book to read it.
