I've been using the previous version of GAOTD for the "quick and dirty" conversions. You need something converted real fast. This is for you. It works perfectly at what's it supposed to do.
My main use of this software is to convert HD (mkv) materials to divx/xvid and both those formats to mobile clips.
Easy to use GUI and since its free, give it a go :)
If it doesnot work/dont like it, use revo uninstaller to uninstall.

Recommended.

Never mind the above. It's not converting it. When I tried to play it it only shows black screen and no sound. Dang. I'll have to uninstall it since I already had format factory which it was ok for all regular conversions.

Thanks for this converter. It converted a 45 minute long .m4v (iTunes) TV show in less than 2 minutes!! That was great. I've trying to find a converter that would work with that format. Thanks again! (windows 7 home premium 64).

Is there a way to reinstall and register this after today? If I should need to rebuild my laptop, which I do every so often, it would be nice to be able to reinstall this application and have it fully functional.

I'm a newbie on your site and this is the first software I've downloaded from you. I downloaded the zip file at the link entitled "Download Aiseesoft Total Media Converter now" and ran the setup. However, it installed a program called "Software Informer" instead. Can anyone please tell me what I've done wrong?

Just tested on Win7/64 on an AMD (TurionX2) machine with nVidia GPU using a black eyed peas video which is my test for lipsyncing etc. Ripped to a mp4 for my iTouch in about 4 minutes, which is not terribly fast - but the sync is clean, and the graphical quality is superior to some other products I've been using. I think I'll be keeping Aiseesoft Total Video Converter in my "toolkit" for some time to come.

Thanks GOTD.

Oh, and yes - you do not have to register under the name "giveawayoftheday" - You can register it under any name you'd care to give it. But it seems everyone is saying that. XD

Looks okay, has some quite nice features such as selectable CPU core affinity, but one MAJOR LIMITATION (as far as I have worked out so far from brief testing) is that it does not offer "full HD" video output resolution of 1820 x 1080 but seems to be limited to a maximum of 1280 x 720. This is a show-stopper for me!

#46 and #5, I agree FormatFactory is "free and easy", but I learned long ago (the hard way) about installing from the setup file. Instead, unzip the setup from the downloaded zip file, then "extract" the setup exe file with "Universal Extractor" from http://legroom.net/software/uniextract. Delete the "$PLUGINSDIR" and "$TEMP" folders, copy everything from "$_OUTDIR" folder into the main extracted folder. After that you can just run the program (FormatFactory.exe).

I have been using the WinX DVD on my upstairs XP SP3 machine from a few months back and it has been very buggy lately. I installed this on my wife's Windows 7 64-bit and it has had no problem ripping the same DVDs that edition of WinX crashes on. Luckily I had another older version of WinX (6.0 as opposed to 6.3 that kept crashing) installed and have been able to limp along just fine upstairs. I installed this Aiseesoft today on my work and home machines so I am good to go! Makes great archives of my DVDs so that I can stream through my Roku without having to grab the DVD (playon.tv Roku channel)! I have gotten rid of Netflix and replaced it with Amazon Prime, and my archived DVDs for my household streaming.

#33.

If it becomes unregistered, it's likely due to a 3rd party application that removes registry entries.

This is certainly not Aiseesoft’s fault at all.

I don't know why, but I have never yet had an aiseesoft program which works from GAOTD.The buttons light up when I move over them, but do not respond to clicking. If I click anywhere in the window I can drag the window across the screen.I used task manager to close the program, and restarted. I filled in the registration, and the above happened again.Another restart said I was using a trial version...Is it worth the hassle?

version 6.2.18

input video displays size & length (good, many do not) - but
not the bitrate (unless you check Properties). output shows
the same, making it to see that, well, input is 576*360 &
out is 640*480, so like, why?

input file size & estimated output file size would be nice.

Edit show Original & Output previews - in realtime. Nice.
So if you change Brightness or Contrast, you know what it's
going to look like. Nice. Crop too shows in the Output
Preview. Nice.

(Picture) snapshot feature works well & is a no brainier.

once a video is converted (24 MB flv to MP4, 27 MB) - which
happened speedily, it has the option to open the output
folder, but if you do not select that, then there is no way
from back in the program itself to open the output folder.
that would have been a nice option. (seem to recall one of
this giveaways that did do something like that. made it
very convenient.)

there is confirmation on an output file overwrite.
yes, no, cancel. yes would overwrite. no, increments the
name. cancel cancels.

stopping a conversion leaves the intermediate file. expected.

not bad.

I learned long ago not to blindly trust the "Thumbs" rating as it's too easy for a company to pad those results. It's a bit more difficult to pick out the obvious Shills and haters from the Fair Reviews but that's the best first step in evaluating one of these programs. I look for reviewers whose names I trust and I REALLY miss the days when Ashraf reviewed all of these programs. My recommendation is to check them out. Use Web of Trust, search for the awards they claim and find reviews and ratings on Google etc. before you consider downloading something. Above all keep a list of the computer software companies that have bad practices so you don't have to research them every time.

GAOTD is a great resource but you have to do your part in keeping yourself safe. They put the offers out here but in a way it's advertising for these companies. They can't be too picky about this so we have our own responsibilities here too.

As for unwanted add-ons like toolbars, there are a couple of ways you might, emphasis on might, be able to stop them. First Spybot Search and Destroy is preset to block known malicious ones from being downloaded to your browser and if you are able to configure it's blacklist you can block others like the ASK toolbar mentioned earlier. It's a free download as well. Second depending on whether the installer works through a separate install package or through the browser you can avoid it by using one of the less well used browsers like Chrome, Safari or Opera. Just make sure it isn't one based on Firefox or IE and you are probably OK. Of course with a separate install package this won't work but at least it gives you a chance.

Great!

I have a suggestion for future enhancement.

In the "Crop" part, let us choose the background color of the preview window.

It's not always easy to crop a mainly black movie on a black background.

Installed easily on my Aspireone with Intel Atom W7 Starter. Worked perfectly converting RealPlayer videos and various music formats to both Itunes and Media player. RealPlayer will do the same thing, but it takes forever unless you have the paid version.
#23, you can simply delete the entry in add/remove programs. #46, It didn't install the ask toolbar. after an extensive search, I was unable to find it, so I'm not sure what that's about, but you can just uninstall the toolbar.
As a beginner with audio/video conversion programs, I found it intuitive and quite easy to use.
I don't understand why anyone would need or want different skins. Why would I want to clog up my PC's with unneeded fluff, but that's just me.
I plan on keeping and using this software on a fairly regular basis. Thanks to both GAOTD and Aiseesoft.

#43. You can Trim the gap out with DVD Shrink. I usually trim the producer logs in the beginning, then trim out the credits. After you have nice trimmed vob files, use cmd line to merge them into one mpg.
example" copy /b vob1.vob + vob2.vob + vob3.vob outputFile.mpg
Then you can compress or CBR20 the MPG to anything you want.

As far as this software goes, I see a output to VOB but it still wants to change the bitrate and audio type. I'm looking for the ability to fix up the image of the vob (color, saturation, brightness, contrast, ect) which this app does, (still needs a denoiser/grain option), but then output Same as Source FPS, Birate quality, & raw audio. Where this app only does FPS same as source.

Best version yet. Fixes an old bug that kept Aiseesoft video converters from working on my old WinXP machine.

It would be nice if there was an option to reduce priority when running in the background. Also if the progress % could be shown on the task bar for easy monitoring without opening the program window.

#5 - Careful! FormatFactory may be "free and easy", but downloading FormatFactory from its publisher's website (formatoz.com/) will automatically install the dreaded ASK.COM toolbar without giving you a choice. Check your Program Files directory you'll find ask.com. Hopefully you can uninstal it and its registry entries before it attaches itself to you? browsers.

For VHS, you need a video capture device to get the video onto your computer. The easiest devices will simply plug into a USB port (in which you play your VHS tape in your VCR while having it connected with audio/video cable) and include software for making DVDs from the video.

This software is a little bit better at merging videos but I still haven't found a program to merge videos without leaving a gap between them. There is always a jump or a skip between the videos. Test results: ripped Resident Evil Extinction using this software and using WinX DVD Ripper. note: I'm not sure if I chose precisely the same format, as Aiseesoft's list of options is so huge)
1st attempt froze PC.
2nd attempt - took 25 min, to convert to AVI - but ONLY the first file converted, the rest converted to mp4! WHY?
WinX took 16 min and converted all to AVI.
Files sizes: A(Aiseesoft)1st=3.493GB, W(WinX)1.336GB
2nd: A=2mb (BTW - it also created a second "1st" file 61MB?)W=21MB
3rd: A=1MB W=29MB
4th: A=3MB W=26MB
5th: A=3MB W=23MB
Keep in mind, A created mp4s, which was not what I asked for, so files would naturally be smaller.
I was completely OVERWHELMED at the complexity of Aiseesoft's format choices - OVER 250!! Ridiculous overkill, in my opinion. Great to be so specific (six different versions for a single phone type, etc)
Film quality was excellent with both.
WinX was faster, created a smaller main file, and was quick and easy to use. Aiseesoft was almost twice as slow, created a huge file and offers an impressive, if confusing, range of selections.I imagine once you have set the defaults to support your specific needs, this program would work fine - a simpler, more user-friendly program would be better for casual use. This program seems well-suited to anyone who needs to convert from and to a wide variety of formats. I am definitely keeping this one.

No better than the last version offered. The last one, the volume did not match the mouth movement.
This one, it matches better but the video looked like an old flip book type film, not smooth, very jumpy.
Other than that, the conversion was fairly quick. But, if you can't watch it than it does not matter how fast it was!
