    David Wellman,
Yes it is for real. Topaz labs have a lot of great stuff and I have most of them except for this new AI for videos as I do not need it at the moment

Lots of freeware can do the same task (downgrade the resolution) with great result.

If you can do the other side, upscale from 480p/720p to 1080p or even 2160p will be much more useful.

I'll make something clear. When a movie is converted to, for example; [Bad Boys for Life (2020) 1920x800, bitrate 2500 H264 (avc) mp3, duration 2 hours] one should keep an eye on the bitrate. If the bitrate is 1000, the converted movie is woefully bad. If you have a bitrate of 2500, the quality is very good. If you want to use a bitrate 4000, the quality is excellent, but you have a large file. So you have to compromise between very good and excellent.

Too much of a one trick pony to be really useful.

Simply offer a more fully fledged converter that covers a useful gamut of options.

Nobody is going to pay $39 for it and when they see that it is only a 1 year licence, there is even less reason to even consider it.

Aiseesoft used to do some really good stuff, even if they always had way too many products crossing over into another but if late they seem to have fallen into a lazy trap of not thinking about what users would really like.

PhilS, yeah it is just a commercial closed source GUI on an unlicensed old FFMPEG distribution. Would get much better granularity of conversion parmeters from the likes of free open source fully licensed Handbrake FFMPEG GUI.

The thumbnail/icon (on this individual page and the main gotd.com) has a typo (repeated more than once) - this software is a CoNVerter, not CoVNerter :)

If GOTD.com and/or the Publisher read this, could you please action and rectify.

If such a high-profile detail is missed, one might wonder if the rest of the software is any good/tested - need to find out.

Since we are on the topic of spelling, I also noticed a grammar mistake in the very first sentence.

    Should be

It appears the owners of this website outsourced the upkeep to India or some other cheap labor country. Spelling and/or grammar mistakes make this website feel flaky.

    Julian,

My thought exactly! The typo was the first thing I noticed, on the start page before I'd even come to the "about" page, and I'm afraid a glaring error like that one makes me wonder too much about the software to even download it for a trial run.

Julian, nicely spotted... since the devlopers do not do any video processing development because they rely entirely upon 3rd party FFMPEG to do all encoding and decoding it's not as bad a risk since the real devlopers and users of open source software have already thoroughly beta tested the unlicensed open source stuff. Just the GUI implimentation and honesty of the developers seeing as they are happy to redistribute pirated/unlicensed FFMPEG software as if it were their own intelectual property.

You cannot upgrade the quality of the video signal from a low quality to a higher quality.
    The reverse is possible.
This is true in Video. Just as it is in Audio.

Topaz Video Enhancer claims to be able to upscale. https://topazlabs.com/video-enhance-ai/
I have not used it so I cannot say whether or not it works.

ricohflex, I disagree. Using HD Video Converter Factory Pro, I've increased the quality of many low-grade videos by sharpening, increasing the resolution, etc. I'm sure you could do the same with other software, like the one mentioned by Dennis Towell.

It increases the bitrate, which increases the quality. I can tell you from first-hand experience, the results are remarkable. If you increase the bitrate, you improve the quality of your video almost every time.

    Dear ricohflex,

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Sorry for keeping you waiting.

We need to explain that our product converts other videos to 4K videos which means it upscales the resolution of your videos not the video quality, hope you could understand this.
