Well it DID reveal a host of passwords on my system but I can't see how useful it is without a way to save the entire list. My browser passwords are over 450. No way to copy the whole list. And even to copy one password you have to copy/paste EACH column separately. Am I meant to clip on each one and hand copy EACH individual field? SO sad... uninstalled and erased.

HHHMMM. Installed and registered on Windows 10, 64bit. Results for the scan of browsers was either blank or incorrect! No passwords were found for the browsers the software claims to find easily. The results were found for a couple of browsers, but information entirely wrong! The software is not much use if it does not deliver advertised results.......

PC Trek: Suggestion: It seems to me that this should be called something like "Advanced Registration Key Recovery Suite." Any questions so far about it identifying actual passwords have been answered with "it can't do that" but it sounds like it is capable of identifying registration codes. A list of what it can crack would be useful.

This is meant to be helpful. Hope it is.

Just tested this application. Some recovered keys are correct, some are completely wrong and for many software that I bought it doesn't even list them.
Sorry to say that this application is useless for me.

1st installed Advanced Password Recovery Suite in a Windows 7 32-bit VirtualBox VM. When started it showed a message that I might have to enable Aero for it to display properly -- I didn't, and I didn't spot any display problems. Clicked the button to activate, filled in an email address, clicked the button, & the program froze [crashed] -- after killing it with Task Mgr. tried running as admin, but same results.

Copied the program's folder [Advanced Password Recovery Suite] to regular win10 64-bit 1903, & ran the compatibility troubleshooter, which said use win8 compatibility + run as admin. This time clicking the button to activate after filling in the same email address didn't crash the app. When there was a delay receiving the email I tried again, getting a message that the email wasn't in their database yet. After a few minutes got the email, clicked the link in the email to confirm the email address was valid, clicked the program's activate button again, and it showed activated until 11/7/20.

Running the app, it found the key used to activate win10, and some credentials that were useless to me. Selecting Software on the left side of the window, clicked Scan, & it offered to do a deeper scan of the registry -- I clicked OK. This time it showed the keys for about a dozen apps, but while there were a few added credentials, the password for the Microsoft account used to sign into win10 was blank, and the none of the email accounts were even listed.

Installed easily, I got the confirmation link immediately using Yahoo mail.
Deep scan brought up a lot of keys I didn't know about, helps me if/when I might need to manually remove a suspicious/malicious program. Also showed me a lot of login passwords I had forgotten and/or didn't know were on my PC, helps for when I need to login somewhere to site I had forgotten a password for.
I really need a password recovery for my other laptop but this doesn't recover Windows passwords, just the keys.
One anomaly so far, I keep getting a popup message that says "another program is currently using this file"
It never happened before installing this and it's the only thing recently installed.

I saved the info from the deep scan as text files, uninstalled the program, rebooted, no more error message.
Would have been nice to keep, but that error popup every two or so minutes got too annoying.

Somewhat awkward registration process, but otherwise a great product. I have one comment/suggestion. This may seem counterintuitive, but having this installed on a PC is a huge security risk if the computer is accessed by an unauthorized person/program. You might consider adding an optional "Password" option which, when enabled, would require a password in order to execute the program. Of course, that means one must remember THAT password. In lieu of this I have password/zipped the APRS105 directory/files in the X86 directory, then deleted the originals (and emptied the recycle bin) for safety's sake.

Nothing can recover MS Office software keys starting with (I think) Office 2013 because only the last few digits of the key are stored on the local machine.

FYI.

I'm wondering if this product can recover the passwords of Word files? I have some very old Word files encrypted with long passwords more than a decade ago that I'm totally unable to recall. Please help advise, thank you very much!

Reply   |   Comment by Huong  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Huong, Sorry, it cannot recover password for encrypted Word file, but I am pretty sure it can recover your old MS Office installation key :)

Reply   |   Comment by PC Trek  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Huong,
No, this software can not break such passwords.
You'll need to use dedicated software for such thing and they most likely involve brute forcing the password, which can take extremely long time in case of long (+8 characters) passwords.

Reply   |   Comment by PC Trek  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Nebulous,

The product page says: "Recover keys for Microsoft Windows and Office, Nero, WinZip and more than 1500 other software and games."

If it doesn't work for you Google -- there are a few apps or solutions.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

@ Mike, yes, thanks. I read too quickly while in a hurry.

The Software's title is
   "Advanced Password Recovery,"

and as you pointed out the description does say
    "for Microsoft Windows..."
so it appeared that it could recover passwords for Microsoft Windows.

I have Googled Windows Password recovery software. Much of what comes up seems sketchy, risky. Before I download one, I'd like opinions from users on which one has worked well for them.

Reply   |   Comment by Nebulous  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

TK, thanks for that. I realize most of what you said. I am primarily pointing out to the vendor that "Password" in the name is misleading to the general user. Encrypted keys, etc. are of course passwords of a different sort, but they aren't what Joe and Jane User thinks of as passwords. "Password" usually suggests something you made up yourself in order to login to something.

It is possible, I'm pretty sure, to discern a Windows login password non-destructively in Safe Mode, but not easily... it takes a specialty tool. I may be wrong, but I'm 98% I'm right on that.

A family friend's husband passed away. She would like access to his document collection and his email contacts that are stored in Outlook. She expects that he will have a treasure trove of memorabilia stored in the computer. I'm trying to help her. That is what prompted these comments.

For crying out loud, YOU CAN'T RESIZE THE RESULTS WINDOW!! Sorry for yelling, but that's totally unacceptable. The expand box is greyed out. Hence, the results are truncated and you have to resize the columns to see the entire results for a column. Also, make the results "copyable", so I can copy and paste the information into a document. These two issues are of such significance it significantly lowers the value of the program.

Reply   |   Comment by Itsjustme  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+23)

Itsjustme,
All the results can be exported to a textfile or a CSV-file by clicking on the grey disc icon in the lower right corner.
You can also copy individual passwords, urls, logins, etc by clicking on the appropiate icon in the lower right corner.

Reply   |   Comment by Oscar  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Oscar, I realize you can export to a text file that just adds unnecessary steps. Just make it "copyable" so I can highlight and copy past it into a Word document where I have already placed additional information concerning other tabs from this program. i mean really, this should be basic 101. I had dozens of passwords from my applications and copying individual lines is both tedious and time consuming. There's just no reason I can think of that this information can't be made "copyable" so it can be pasted, in whole or part, into whatever program I want to store the information.

Installed no problem. It finds the passwords that windows have stored on your pc that aren't encrypted. And the encrypted passwords it can't recover - it did not recover any passwords for Firefox, only Edge.

It did not recover any keys for my installed software - except its own - that's rather funny.

It did not find any key for Microsoft Office and I have that installed (a legal, licensed version).

You can't copy & paste the passwords as they're displayed. You can only see them and if you need them you'd have to retype them.

Not very much this does that you can't do on your own by going to the right place.

Reply   |   Comment by Someone  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+28)

Someone, Click on the software section on the left side of the screen. Click on Scan. A window will pop up when the scan is completed. It will ask you if you want to proceed with a deep registry scan. Click Yes. It brought up a bunch more for me. I found it by fiddling around with the software. Also, you can save the results by clicking on the gray diskette icon on the lower right corner. It will let you save the results as .txt or .csv.

Reply   |   Comment by RC  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

Someone, Please try deeper registry scan from SOFTWARE section. Our software will try to find patterns containing registry keys. If your Firefox is 64bit, it won't show any password until you install 32bit Firefox. It should work fine for MS Office 2003/2007/2010. Office 2013/16 do not store keys into registry anymore. You can copy-paste the passwords or save them into a text file using the gray buttons on the left corner on each section.

Reply   |   Comment by PC Trek  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

RC,

I had done a deep registry scan before posting - that's when it found its own key.

Thanks for the tip on saving - but if you just need to copy & paste 1 password, that's still a cumbersome process.

Installed exactly as instructed in the readme.txt. No issues.
