I already ave a lifetime license for Adguard. I bought a one year license to try it out and was so happy with it, that when the one year was up, I bought the lifetime license.
One of the biggest improvements I found was when I open my Hotmail, there is a blank spot on the right of the window where the annoying ads used to be.
I noticed that many pages load faster without all the ads. Admittedly, some pages are so cluttered with ads that they take a little longer to load, but I prefer a bit of a wait to all the annoying crap.
BTW, I am not a paid shill for Adguard, nor am I an employee, just a satisfied customer.

I love Adguard. I have it on my computer but I would love a copy for my wife's. It is so easy to send a note foe support. You got a claim ticket and I got a response the same day once and the following day on the next. I was having problem on an update. But it was my security software and I unistalled it with a free uninstaller from the net that left a couple of registries. I just found them and delete them and it was good to go after a fresh install. And if you like the addon for Firefox but rather have your own software. Adguard is it. Set it the way you want. Silent updates, proxy if you wish, etc.

Go to the publisher's web page, and you are invited to check out your favorite ad spooling web site using the product's filtering.

I launch Firefox and type in the most annoying site I visit, and when I click the button, nothing happens. Click again, still nothing.

So I use their suggestion for sites (cnet.com, washingtonpost.com) and in each instance I get taken to a blank white page with HUGE block letters saying "HTTPS PROTOCOL NOT SUPPORTED".

Does not exactly inspire confidence in the product.

By the way, that "most annoying site I visit" is www.tivocommunity.com, which not only spools ads on the side of the page, but inside each post as well. And it stupidly puts up a popup saying I have ad blocker software running (I have disabled it on that site), even as I see their dozens of ads on every page.

But THE most annoying thing about them is the way they've implemented their ad spooling - when I load the page to look at posts, my CPU usage jumps by 10-20% and stays there as long as the page is open. It's maddening, and if I didn't need some of the info contained there, I'd never go there again.

DD, noted, we'll look into it.

I am on a demo of Adguard now and it works really good at stopping adds and protecting your privacy. Unlike typical software you download to your browser this software is downloaded permanently to your computer. I tried another competitors recently and it would cause my computer to be unstable and crash.

Its unfortunate that you require such programs today as if you don't have this product your internet surfing really slows down. Plus you will get all those annoying advertisements that seem to mess you up when you scroll through certain websites. The only downside to this program is early on as you have to give it special permission if you have norton security as other than that it works good.

PLEASE GOTD. Could you tell us in your mailshot when something is a genuine giveaway and when it is a lottery for 100 or so licences? It wouldn't cost you anything - not even time - but it would save people like me (of which there must be thousands) who are NOT interested in entering a lottery from wasting their time following your link.
I've been disappointed this way MANY times. It's not kind, and it's not polite, and it doesn't enhance your reputation.

    HB,

I heartily agree! There's nothing wrong with a "lottery" as you describe it. But it's only fair to tell us. I was keen to download Adguard, as I guess you were.

I feel I've been tricked, too.

    GOTD, please play fair.

    Hello,
please note that the letter with the competition is titled "Exclusive Giveaway of the Week" and also is started with the phrase "You have a unique opportunity to Join and Win one of the free licences". I'm not sure how we are supposed to underline this more.

I agree, have written before about various deviations from your normal free offer. This one I had to bring up three times before I finally figured it was not your typical offering. Other times we have a "one year License". I do collect your freebe's mostly to have on hand but only a few have ever been used. Why waste my time with a contest or 1 year expiration, just be more straight forward.

    Hello,
we always ask our users to read the conditions of the giveaway, it's description and tech requirements first.

You can see that this offer doesn't have the usual download button, but says "Join & Win" and also has the line "Hurry up and win one of the 100 license keys".

As to the license restrictions, it is always noted under the main program description that the offer is provided with a one year license or some other restriction.

Helen, Umm, mine said nothing in the entire email about "exclusive" or oportunity. This is what I received, with the clarification at the very end:

    Hello,
this may happen if you receive the old RSS. If you subscribe for the RSS now, you'll receive the one that separates the offers.

Reply   |   Comment by Helen  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Are you indicating that there is another email list that is more selective in its notifications? What is an RSS?

Reply   |   Comment by Jerry  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

    Helen,

Easy, put the lottery offers on a "Lottery of the Week" page.

There must be something about the words "Exclusive" & "Giveaway" that Exclusive Giveaway of the Week finds hard to comprehend.

Apparently the site -does- know the difference because as you pointed out there is also a notice that this one is a lottery of chance but puts it on the Giveaway page anyway.

Sorry to be so direct but this isn't the first time people have complained about lottery offers on the "Giveaway" site.

I think I'd rather pay than jump through all those hoops. I'll download and try the trial and hope it's not crippled - at least for a brief period - so I can evaluate. I'll come back to comment asap.

For those of US who actually want to BUY Adguard for Windows:

Question: Do you offer any discount coupons to buy a home use pack/enough for 4 or 5 home use computers?

Reply   |   Comment by Peter C1  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Peter C1, when you buy a license for 2+ computers, it is always cheaper than purchasing the same amount of 1-computer licenses one by one. So the discount is implied here. Additionally, we have all kinds of sales from time to time - 50% off of all licenses etc. You can subscribe to the Adguard newsletter to stay tuned.
