#7-Beagle, I went to read about Host.htm at the URL you listed.
Rather informative.

One problem I encountered with Ad Muncher while editing a webpage that I am designing is Ad Muncher embedded itself in the page I was updating. To work around it I had to disable Ad Muncher & have not reactivated it since then. Could there be the same problem with Host.htm?

A month on and I'm unaware of AdMuncher's existence except for the blessed absence of pop-ups and other distractions! Best thing I've had from gaotd in the ca 2 mnths I've been here. Reading back I've realised how hard the team were working over the 2 days- well done all of you and a happy Xmas to everyone. PS- I hope my Reg 'took' cos I think 'today's t day'!

fingers crossed did not work.. ref 216. although i haveinstalled fresh windows on another partition, vannot get the windows with admuncher to repair, or restore to previous and even the saved image (not your fault) failed to restore after 40 minutes with corrupt file message.
Not certain admunch was problem , but all problems commenced after I right clicked within msn front page and asked admunch to do some work.

@217: There's no need to block it. It's for a legitimate reason.

So you can set keyboard shortcuts for a few things.

Like toggling Ad Muncher on/off. This can't work unless Ad Muncher hooks the same API a keylogger would. ;)

You can set the keyboard shortcuts via the Interface tab.

The registration was a bit of a pain, but it did finally get done. However my biggest concern was that the Zemana Antilogger that GOTD gave away a while back picked up and blocked a Keylogger actact from AdMuncher, which I opted to block. Not real sure why one is needed to block ads.

Installed the program, received the licence but not inserted the licence into the program,
using Internet explorer 8 in privacy mode.

lots of adds on the msn homepage.

I tried to write click and stop ads, which were all flash. no effect,,, then pc hung.

had to restart.

every time I restart, even in safe mode with netwoking, the windows, (ultimate 32bit) hangs after a few minutes.
now in safe mode using system restore. fingers crossed.

I hope you've disabled adblock plus and noscript.

Using them with Ad Muncher is just asking for trouble.

Ad Muncher should NOT be slowing down anything on your system.

Only conflicts with add-ons or improperly configured firewalls can cause this.

Installed & registered the latest beta,as I use Firefox 8.0 99.99% of the time.

However,it's now taking some pages up to 30 seconds to render,whereas before it was more or less instant.

I have adblock plus & Noscript installed,and both updated,so suspect I may need to tweak a setting or 3.

This isn't a criticism of Ad Muncher,merely an observation,which a few others may need to heed.

Can I use this "on demand"?
as I have adblock plus for Firefox, but have simple adblock for IE & they both work ok but the simple adblock will stop after 200 ads blocked so I wanted to see how admuncher compares & use it as my main one for IE if its better.

@204: The critical registry entry is so Ad Muncher can start when you start windows. And yes Ad Muncher needs server rights.

Do I need to configure anything or will Ad Muncher works out of the box? I have installed Ad Muncher but I'm not sure if it is working. Can you give us an example of a site with lots of Ads so that I can test out Ad Muncher?

I do not know of any sites I go to that have Ads, and even so, I would not know if they are Ads or flash? Please help.

Do I have to register by today? I've got the registration code but my PC is sent for upgrade and will not be back till next week. Please advise.

I downloaded and installed with no problem but when I attempted registration with the link in the readme text file (http://gotd.admuncher.com/gotd2011/gotd.p1) I reached AdMuncher's main page and message "sorry the file could not found". I clicked the link provided in the previous comments and reached the registration page and did get that completed in time. Thanks to all of you who post these helpful comments. I read them and have learned quite a bit by doing so.

Installed ad muncher which (according to my install monitor program) modified several "critical registry entries" which is not unusual. Then ad muncher asked for server rights which i did not allow.
However, then i could not get online. Uninstalled ad muncher, now i can get online fine. I'm not certain if ad munchers changing of the registry or because i blocked server rights caused the no online issue.
I'm running win XP w/sp3 - nothing unusual.

I love this software! My wife will now let me use some otherwise plagued websites by naughty unrelated adds. I want to take advantage of this free 1 year license, but I have not recieved the registration email. Is there any other way to register this software?

Murray Hurps, Ad Muncher is using a lot of compute while IE9 is downloading files. It was causing a YouTube user page video to play, I excluded YouTube.com/user.

Great little Buddy!:) Had been munching away since yesterday and after registering (thanks Murray for that e-mail:) - I can see already it's a Keeper!

My Hotmail (for one) is free of ads at long last, not to mention other Sites (mainly News, especially foreign), where I was tired of using refresh button non stop to be able to concentrate on reading..

Got my registration key, so gave it another try. I'm sure glad I did!! This program is super-effective. Even stubborn sites are ad free. Especially two sites I always go to open up an ad window, and doesn't matter whether I blocked the URL or what, still kept happening. Visited both sites using AdMuncher... ad window popup GONE!!!! Yay!!! Thank you AdMuncher and GAOTD!! :-)

My internet explorer stopped working after download and registration. Ran a restore and it came back. Downloaded admuncher again and it happened again. Firefox working fine. Admuncher worked great on firefox while I had it.

Ads are revenue. Revenue supports the site. Blocking ads does not. Taking from a site and not supporting it is stealing in my eyes. This is coming from a socialist, so I'm not The Man trying to bring you down. I'm just interested in fairness and the negative votes.

Compared to the benefits! its a comparatively small download, that installs cleanly, though I suspect the small delays may ultimately counter that argument about size. NO issues with delayed registration (as promised, so I feel it was well handled / resolved, under the circumstances).
Works well in common IE6 and also in portable more obscure browsers such as QTweb (safari based) and Iron (chromium based), even when they are used as portable apps. Even works when freshly downloaded portable Firefox is started, so is efficiently filtering the pages before any browser apps see them, and handles all four running at the same time.
Two clicks to toggle full on and off, is about as simple as it gets for quick control unless there was a button per page :-)
Not strictly portable itself but with a little tweaking is easy to run (and unload) from a stick.
The best keeper in a long while 9.5 / 10 from me.

@135: Your free license will cover 12 months of updates regardless of what the version numbers are. It is not necessary to run any other ad blocking software along with Ad Muncher.

@137: When the free license expires, Ad Muncher will continue working. The license just won't cover new list or program releases after that date.

@149: If you're worried about our email being filtered as spam, please search for emails from our domain (admuncher.com).

@150: This is absolutely not a "demo" license. This is the basic license that can be purchased from our "Buy now" page.

@153: We have absolutely no problem with advertising that is done right. If people are so annoyed by ads they feel the need to install a blocker then there is something badly wrong with how it is being done.

@154: Please extract the executable from the zip file to a different folder then run it.

@157: If the installation is getting stuck on "Configuring startup settings" it sounds like there may be a security utility trying to block it from doing so. Please close or reconfigure any security software on your system that may be attempting to limit what is installed on startup.

Was promised a key about a day ago. Still nothing. Is @175 right and are no more keys available? If so, why did I bother and got promised one?

@185 Jill - I think if you were to actually ask for help (or at least mention the sites that it isn't working on) then Jeff and Murray can usually implement a fix for those sites almost immediately.

However just saying "it doesn't work" - but not providing any actual details/evidence of the problem - then you won't get a solution.

Perhaps you are running another ad blocker or security software that is intefering with AdMuncher, but as you really haven't left any useful information - I guess your particular issue will have to remain, as nobody can help you.

Wife and I got our code keys,all regged up. Worth the delay, pleased with program performance. Can now surf ad-free on ie and other browsers, even have AdBlock+ disabled in my FF. Jeff (AdMuncher) is currently in the process of working on hulu since they updated their ad system. it only broke like a week ago.

To allow videos (and ads) for hulu while the problem gets fixed

or contact the Developers via the contact page I mentioned in my first post and they will help (whichever works for you).

If a site is broken - tell Jeff or Murray and they will fix it regardless if you have a basic or premium license.

What happened is either you used unicode characters in your registration name or there is an extra space in it.

Fixing this is very easy. :)

Registered a-ok AFTER I took the extra space out in front of my name, after I did the copy/paste from their email with reg. info-
& yes it was overnight before they sent it-

Tried with the latest Opera version and saw no difference at all in the ads being displayed. Maybe it does block ads on some sites but not the ones I regularly visit.

Downloaded, installed, and saw an excuse that their servers were overloaded. They said they would email license keys after offer ended. Still waiting for license key. Contacted them. I was told I can try the 30 version, that they can't afford to give away anymore license keys. If you don't have a license key by now, you're not going to get one! Once again everybody, we've been had!

Hey GOTD, do us a favor and ban Admuncher developers from offering software on this site since they refuse to honor their agreement. Their excuse was that they thought they'd only have to give away maybe a thousand license keys. Since more people responded than they thought, they stopped issuing license keys. If they are that greedy, they have no business offering a give-away!

I'm uninstalling their software and will never even consider installing their garbage again!

tried this with opera latest version takes for ever for my tabs to load so I dont know if it is good or not my browser does not feel any less secure without it so not a keeper thanks anyway GAOTD keep up the good work

i tried to register with the name and code # they sent me and it says- ""the supplied reg name and/or code are invalid” == so i clicked on ”code look up” they sent me the same name and code and it still doesn't work. anyone have any ideas ???

No, thanks. Not worth the trouble. Ad Muncher downloaded to me only half the file. I guess I'm supposed to allow the rest of the setup file to download during installation. Not going to. That procedure is a pain in the butt, made worse by the clumsy coding of setup.exe. Some of the software I've downloaded from GAOTD has been excellent, but even when the product is good, setup.exe is horrible. Setup tries to call home as soon as its started, which activates and crashes the default browser and crashes the program's installation program, and then the product's installation program tells me that I should close the browser window and try again. It will be worse with this program.

Installed the program yesterday on Windows 7, 32 bit and activated the 30 trial with no problem. This morning (11/24/11) the normal activation code was in my email and I was able to activate the program for one year.

At first I couldn't find the Ad Muncher Icon (a COW head) in the task bar and I had to get into the Configuration menu through the Windows Start button/Programs/Ad Muncher. Once the configuration menu opened I went to, Options/Interface/ and un-clicked "Hide the system tray icon". After that the program worked as expected.

This is a great program and it is amazing how many ads it removes from web sites. Thank you very much Murray and GOTD for this keeper program.
