Downloaded to Win 8.1. Installed OK. Runs asking for parameters. Any PDF convert to any format results in an empty document. Doc, txt nada! So I downloaded to other PC with Win 7. Installed OK. Runs asking for parameters. Any PDF convert to any format results in an empty document. Doc, txt nada! Can't say much for it, and since others had the same issue, now I'm suspicious I just installed ID stealing AP on my PCs???

Why pay $99.95 for this program while I can buy the real adobe acrobat for about $130?

There is no mention of an OCR capability, so I imagine this program can convert only text-based, not image-based, PDF files. For this purpose I can use the excellent, free UniPDF program:

http://unipdf.com/
Convert PDF to Word, JPG, HTML, or Text in batches. 100% FREE
UniPDF performs high-quality conversion from PDF files to word documents (doc/rtf), images (JPG/PNG/BMP/TIF/GIF/PCX/TGA), HTML, or plain text files (txt) in batch mode, with all document texts, layouts, images and formatting ideally preserved.

I was wondering when that might get a mention. It's a serious headache for commercial producers -- and especially developers like today's, with their counter-productive inflated retail prices -- to have to face up to the challenge of outstanding freeware such as UniPDF and the superb free editing toolkit from PDFill. Good news for everyone else though. Thanks for today's offer, GOTD, but I'll pass: the pdf conversion sector is now so overcrowded that developers looking to charge big bucks really do need to ramp up product quality if they're to survive. Nothing in the reviews from other GOTD users today suggests that this particular $100 retail offering has much chance of doing that.

Unfortunately UniPDF provides no direct download option, instead sending you to another site where the "download" is merely one of those downloader exes, completely unnecessary and certainly not trustworthy.

Well Hi everybody - dual boot here - & I hate to join the bandwagon but, I had a nice clean install to both Win 8.1 & Win 10 TP9926 - but after that, it all went downhill & I am not going to re-write what is already written above. So I guess I will just say - Happy Sunday everyone & thanks GOTD for a good morning (sincerely) & I am sorry ACPsoft that it didn't go better than that (just a note: I do NOT use virtual anything, everything is cleaned & installed on physical hard drives & in their respective partitions. Thanks for the opportunity though.)

Cannot properly convert text containing chemical and mathematical formulas (using sub- and superscript).
Best converter so far: aiseesoft pdf-to-word-converter.

I'm a translator and I need to convert pdf files especially when I need some partial content in a pdf file, and the best way to extract the partial content is to convert the file into a doc file first.

However though, it has always been a problem for me to find a decent converter which can preserve the layout in a systematical order so that I can write a macro. For most of the cases, the converters I tried always attempted to preserve the layout with text boxes which made it impossible to write a macro for the entire document.

ACPSoft, on the other hand was very succesfull at converting the kind of pdf files I need. It didn't use text boxes but created a continuos word document and now I can extract the content I need in it. It worked perfect for me.

The only drawback is the archaic open dailog system. You can't drag and drop or you can't even define the output folder easily. Other than that, this is a keeper.

If you need a pdf Converter don't take notice of most of the Thumbs down they are just annoyed it was not a program they can use , This Program has some very good features that I don't have on the main converter I have been using and thanks to the Person in their comment that it is from Russia ,they don;t bother to point that out when the programs are not from Russia & China but to me that is a plus as those countries are striving to educate higher percentages of their young people in advanced education , whilst our countries are pricing it out of reach of their youth.

I'm a little confused by the final line of the description above, on this page, of this software...

"To purchase an unlimited personal license with a 70% discount..."

Am I to conclude from that the version being given away here has an expiration date or some other unspecified limitation? If so, then so much for it being an actual "giveaway." I confess that I could be wrong about that - there's just not enough information in the description above to determine exactly what I'd be getting, or how long it would continue to work if I did download and install it.

Sadly, it seems that software developers don't know very much about marketing, or they would write better sales copy - even when translated from a language other than English. (I'm not saying that's the case here - just generally speaking.) I'm not saying you need to launch into a tirade of superlatives - just tell people what your gizmo does, and how their lives will be better for having it!

Personally, I'm not a big fan of companies offering trialware as "giveaways" on this site. If I want a limited trial version I would just download it directly from their site! But I don't, so I won't.

Besides, the only reason I can think of for the "average" user to use this kind of software is to make abridged versions of ebooks that are in the Public Domain - but who takes the time to do that anymore! Personally, if I need to decompile a PDF file (which is very rarely, although I do sometimes work with some PLR content that doesn't include source files) I'll just use my full version of Acrobat to do so. MS Word (or OpenOffice if you think Microsoft already has their hooks too far into your computer - and your wallet) - have the ability to render documents in PDF format, so I can't say that I personally have need of this software.

Lastly, in the many years of visiting this site and downloading various PDF-to-DOC converters, I haven't encountered any that performed acceptably, often with a simple 3-page PDF ending up being a 243-page DOC with lots of blank pages and/or pages with single lines of text. In fact, only one or two would even extract embedded graphics.

I realize I'll probably have a negative vote count for posting this, but I like to be open and honest when presenting my opinion, and I'm flexible (and humble) enough to change it when further information warrants it.

In the meantime, happy Sunday everyone!

"offering trialware as “giveaways” on this site"

It is "limited: until 2099:

That's long enough for me and this Windows :-)

Hi Don,

As a professor I often need to move copy from pdf to word. A while back I snagged Aiseesoft PDF to Word Converter (with OCR) from this site and it works pretty well for my purposes -- while not perfect it keeps formatting mostly intact and the OCR (which I wanted) works pretty well.

Peace.

Well, as you can see from this page, they have licenses for 1 year, 2 years and unlimited versions.
http://www.pdfconverterdownload.org/download/thanks.php

Thus, as you pointed out, “To purchase an unlimited personal license with a 70% discount…” indicates that the giveaway is of a limited one or two years license. However, the declared (and then crossed) price of the offer is $99.95, which is the price of the unlimited version. If it were a one year license, it should have been $49.95, and for two years, $59.95 respectively up there.

Thus, either the declared price here is misleading, or the declared offer above is misspelled or we all remain confused forever. (Unless we install and wait for a year or two, which, personally, I wont, after reading the comments, especially.)

NEMO will not convert scanned PDFs to Word. That should be made clear.

To Chuck,

That Program will not be listed in 'Programs and Features' so you can't uninstall from there.

Open the "Icon Cool Panel" , Click on 'PDFCool Pdf Editor Freeware' and choose 'Uninstall' option, the program will be removed alongwith Iconcool Panel.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. A clean install.

A Russian company without name and address. The .exe digitally signed as MunSoft:
"Our company’s primary expertise is the creation of products that convert different types of files. We did our best to integrate the latest innovations into all of our programs to make sure that converted files remain as close to their originals as possible."

We had had the same version ACPSoft PDF Converter 2.0 several times on July 7, 2014 and on November 14, 2013. Here are the old reviews:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/acpsoft-pdfconverter/

The time stamp of the installed files are new: February, 21 of this year.

I am interested in the conversion. It competes with the Abby PDF Transformer 3.0, which is on sale for US$39.99, regularly US$79.99 ...

Upon start a resizable window opens, you can change language, in the options you can define the log file. That's all.

A first test from PDF to DOC results in an file with completely destroyed text and graphics:
http://i.imgur.com/xZteAQM.png

A second test to convert another simple text&graphic .PDF to .HTML results in a unreadable file with both missing text and graphics:
http://i.imgur.com/lo1HrFM.png

A simple 1 (ONE!) text only file .PDF to .TXT resulted in a cryptic error message.
-1 have been successfully converted, 2 files have been converted with errors!

Hmmm, how should I write, what I think... I don't write a verdict. Read my last comment...

Uninstalled via reboot. Have a nice Sunday!

Life in Russia must have become very difficult for some. That is not a reason to serve old stuff that collected dust for a long time (last update was February 26, 2013).

In the software world, after 2 years of stalled development, either you go open source or abandon the product... or rework the project from scratch.

Feeling like a scientist today, I did a little research and stumble upon this: "To sum up, this could have been a nice and useful application, but two out of three features don’t work, making the program quite useless." (software.informer.com, bold is mine).

Unlimited Personal License is... um... $90. That's an awful lot of money for 67% failure rate.

Reply   |   Comment by papin  –  9 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+19)

I couldn't get it to do 20 lines of text - it crashed. I also can't see how to tell it which language to use, Chinese, Japanese, etc.

This is nothing like as good as ABBYY AFAIK.
