Has anyone noticed that the Download button was removed from the interface? Their demo video and screenshots show and explain how to use this useful feature (such as to download youtube videos), however, it was removed from this actual giveaway... to be sure, in its place there's the split screen button.

I asked them specifically about this, but the only reply was: "your account has been activated..." (ace thinker anyone?). When asked again, no reply to date.

Complicated registration that went ok on win 7 x64.
I will probably uninstall it as I already have its other features on other software.

The registration process is unnecessarily over complicated.

The website is interesting in that there are guides and videos to try and who the software functionality, which is a good indication that the vendor has at least put some thought into promoting their product. It is a little untidy though, so needs some tightening to make the process of looking for feature demos and tutorials a little easier.

One page has an search input field that simply points a query to Google, which is of little use at all.

The software itself seems to do a fair job and when it comes to converting, there are plenty of fully customisation features to pretty much get the setting that you want in the output.

I haven't had a real amount of quality time to assess it but in terms of speed, whilst it is not terribly slow, comparing to the average converter that does not have something like Intel Quicksync compatibility, it's export time is about the same, seemingly using only multi CPU core processing. There is no setting that I can see that even mentions GPU acceleration and this seems like a failure as it is one of the most key aspects that should be the norm for all converters in 2020. Without it, all the bells and whistles in the world will not elevate it from the large pack of competing products.

I also found a minor bug. When I close the app, even when I choose to close the application and not to be prompted again, I am prompted every time that I close it.

I reserve complete judgement right now but compared to yesterdays offering, this is day where that one was night.

Now I tried to authenticate Ace thinker with their key and they came back bad key. tried for 20 minutes to get their key to work, and another 20 minutes to erase all of it and try again.

Sorry, but there are enough video converter programs out there to try this one for one year.
Not knowing what windows settings you may alter or codec files you may install or change with this software, and being possibly left high and dry when the license expires leaves me unconvinced to try yet another one and potentially mess up settings or codecs affecting what I'm already using, which wouldn't be apparent until the license expires.
I haven't even visited the company website, so I'm unclear, do you SELL your software or license it yearly? I wouldn't pay yearly for a software of this type regardless of how good it is; like I said, there is plenty of good competitive products out there in this category.
And if you do sell permanent licenses, then trust us to give the software a fair trial, and then pay if you make an upgrade that would improve the product; we will do that if the software is effective.
As it is, I will surely pass on this offering.

I typed in the activation code. It keeps saying that it is inaccurate. It is EXACTLY right.

Registration is too complicated for a video converter that appears to be way too common and with tons of free alternatives.
send me an email for this and send me an email for that OMG!!!I couldn't even paste the registration code. Couldn't be bothered trying to type it in.
I got fed up trying to register it and uninstalled.

Agree, not only too complicated, but instructions are flawed and activation email never arrives

Leigh Campbell, please send an email to support@acethinker.com and we'll help you activate the software, in this way, you don't need to do it by yourself anymore.

Leigh Campbell, also agree. Code arrived at around 55 seconds (you get 60 to activate).
2 major problems with this software:
1. no hardware acceleration as far as I could tell
2. takes up too many system resources
I loaded a 429 mb file and watched the 'time left' as it counted down. After a short amount of time the countdown returned to 0, as if it gave up counting as it would be too long.
Trying to load the Task Manager to see what was going on it didn't load, nor could I load anything else while the program was running.
Wanting to be fair (I was trying to convert a 4k video) I loaded the same into my go-to converter. It also used a lot of resources but I had no problem loading other programs while it was running, and it took only 30 seconds to perform the converter.
Lastly, as they note: IMPORTANT: Don’t worry if you’re not able to register the software... Seriously, why would make the registration so complicated (they're not the only ones who do this), that you need to say this. You should only have to enter a registration code and that's it.

AceThinker, Should not need help and should not need to send you my email for the third time.I agree with MN the registration key could be included in the text file.

Adding to my comment above, I think we can add the one positive note here and say that you can't go wrong with a free program. However, after it expires after your year is up having to pay $29.95 is, I'm sorry, a poor choice.
I just tried a truly free converter, Any Video Converter Free, and, astoundingly, it performed the 4k conversion in around 3 minues, even without hardware acceleration without using up too many resources.
Ace Video, please revisit your strategy and programming efforts.

Phoe Monroe, I agree with comparing the functions of two video converters with similar capacity. However, I think it might be unfair to ask a company to change the strategy to another company's. Software companies have different marketing measures, MS Office won't learn from Apache OpenOffice and make MS Word free... Also, I don't think Any video converter is totally free, they have different strategy for free version and paid version. After all, how can a company survive after giving out everything for free? They're using certain measures to maintain their business, it's only that you may like this way or dislike another.

Reply   |   Comment by Roland  –  3 months ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

Roland, this program is actually completely free. It is even better than I thought, as it does support hardware acceleration. There is absolutely no loss of functionality with the free version as would be the case with most other software offerings. There is a paid version that adds DVD ripping and menus, but does not increase the functionality of this program.
This company, AVC does indeed sell other non-related software, in answer to your note about having to make money.
This is the kind of software that I would definitely purchase in order to support such a superb free product.
Lastly, when I suggested they change their strategy, I was referring to their complex form of registration. The vast majority of software offerings only require you to enter a serial key. A few want to you to create a login so you can download what you own whenever you want.

Hi! This tool is very helpful especially when I need to convert a video to a format that is specifically compatible to my device. Kudos to the developers of this tool. Good job!

Daj Figures, handbrake of xmedia recode are much better, offering far more flexibility, and are not trying to make a living off the unpaid work from the open source community without giving them credit or honouring the licenses of the stolen open source software components.
