Everyone here is talking about the giveaway and nobody is noticing that there is a PRO Version(s) available ...
So, I clicked on the "abylon LOGON SSO Pro" [http://www.abylonsoft.com/logon/index.htm] icon above and started to read the information on that page then I STOPPED after I read the infobox
There is NO mention of the program being suitable for Windows 10
My one/other Question is if I buy the Pro version do I get free Upgrades to version 17 and beyond or exactly what is the Licensing conditions i would be buying into

Some of these comments are an example of how ridiculous people have become. Adding comments without even really thinking and only so the can say "see, Im so smart." I wanted to come up with some stupid scenario of North korea hacking me or an elite russian commando squad infiltrating my apartment (guess I sort of just did) and getting my key, and then go "see, your software sucks!!".
I will admit however, the title and first sentence, "Protect your computer from illegal access with Abylon Logon. All you have to do is..." Could have been worded better as it does at first glance sound like a one stop tool, but if you read the rest and use JUST A LITTLE COMMON SENSE, its clear they are only offering a login replacement/ enhancement.
The reason I complain is bc other readers comments and questions can be very useful when determining if I want to look into the software further, but when 90 percent of the comments are like these, I only wasted more time reading them.

I really wasn't even suggesting you make any changes, only conceding how some of them might have a tiny, small, barely a reason (lol) for the way some of them were IMHO "calling you out". But your humble response and willingness to change it shows alot of your company's character and importance of pleasing the customer and putting out a good product!! You just won me as a customer, thank you!

If you could create a hardware-based password tool for websites, I'd be in for sure. In other words, use a jump drive with an encrypted master userID and password for an automatic logon. Something on the order of LastPass, but hardware-based.
It would have to work with other devices (phones, laptops) using an OTG cable or something, obviously.
This would allow very long, difficult to hack passwords without committing them to memory.

I could imagine that an app on the mobile phone will use Bluetooth to retrieve the data from the computer. It's just spun.

The developer, Dr. Thomas Klabunde, has been a longtime generous contributor to GOTD, so I wanted to offer a suggestion, & thanks, all FWIW of course.
I think you might expand the market for Abylon Logon if you could include a way to handle authentication, as in the 2 factor [multi-factor] authentication that we should all be using nowadays. This is available now if you want to buy a somewhat expensive, special USB stick, but the choices are limited, & I don't think that this is something that is well known at all. So I think that a solution that enabled users to use 2 factor authentication from their PC, without having to reach for their cell phone, might well be popular.
I *think* that a feature like that might also help future-proof Abylon Logon. Starting at around $20 users can buy a fingerprint reader/scanner that can stay plugged in, & so *might* be considered by some a little less bother when they log into Windows. And they can always use proximity, similar to the way that Abylon Logon can, but using their cell phone at no added cost. Finally, with 10 only needing a 4 digit PIN, I'm not sure how many users feel a need to shortcut the login process, whereas being able to easily use 2 factor might be a huge plus -- I know it isn't really *hard*, using your cell phone for 2 factor authentication, but it is enough of a bother that the stats on how many people use it are really very dismal.
Just wanted to say thanks anyway, & offer my own 2 cents worth -- don't know if my suggestion is plausible, but if it is I think it might help.

Two-factor authentication means that two different access secrets are used for registration. This is also possible with our software by entering a PIN for the hardware key. What we do not support are biometric methods. In our opinion, the technology has not yet been fully developed. But this is slowly changing. We are also concerned about biometric data falling into the wrong hands.
At this point we would like to inform you about the functionality of our software. Mobile phones can also be used as keys in our abylon LOGON software via a Bluetooth interface. Unfortunately, Bluetooth support for Windows is not very stable.

Physical access to front end of a computer is rarely a security concern. Unfettered access and spying on the rear end (output) of a computer is a major issue. In particular illegal spying by governments and foreign governments along with the usual 'tards trying to steal other information personal information. If this software can't do this (block the real security issues of using and being online, and it appears it cannot) is merely a fence for the daily user to jump over. I already loath the winOS logon; I surely will not add another frustration of trying to get going at the beginning or during an emergency by putting this unnecessary hoop on it. This is not a well-conceived software. ©2017
PS. Any good tech can access your OS sans login. Hackers are generally better operators than so-called experts. BTW, I like Abylon for the most part.

DoktorThomas™, We agree that additional software such as a reasonable firewall should be used for external protection. In many situations, it is also essential that important data is encrypted to a correspondingly high degree (we also offer corresponding products here).
Our software is particularly popular in doctors' surgeries and with production computers (or comparable) where our software is often used. Here the admin can press a smart card (or similar) into the user's hand and does not have to tell the user the password. When the user leaves the PC, he or she takes the hardware key with him or her and, for example, the PC is locked directly.
About Facebook: We only offer this because many customers want it. But the use of the site is not obligatory. Anyone can also contact us via our homepage (even anonymously).

Anyone using Facebook is exposed to ID theft, no ifs or buts, it happen to many of my friends and now with Equifax data out on the black market, it is a very serious situation.

Matt, If you forget the key to your car, you will not be able to use it. With our software abylon LOGON you can use the emergency password SecureID (if used) in case of an emergency. Or a spare key is stored in the company's vault. Optionally, switching to normal Windows logon can also be enabled, so that you can log in normally with the Windows password.
If you leave the key in the car, everyone can drive away with the car. With our software abylon LOGON a PIN can be used in addition to the hardware key. If the computer is then automatically locked after a certain period of non-use (e. g. via the screen saver), this PIN must be entered to unlock.
I hope this shows that we are already worried about our software.
I agree that Facebook is one of the biggest data oddities besides Google. For this reason, such applications do not reach my mobile devices. For example, use Signal as a messenger and not Facebook, Google or WhatsApp. Unfortunately, as an Android user I can't completely protect myself from Google. For Facebook I use a separate browser on the PC, use script blocker and hope to give as little information as possible.

Hmmm... A USB port is a USB port, & if someone has physical access to the device & ill intent, it hardly matters to them where the USB port is located physically.

Then don't use it [Windows Login], or like the folks who contribute to the worst password lists year after year, use 123 or something.
That said, a user's login credentials, which can't always be easily found using popular brute force tools, may also be used to access resources that aren't located on that device. If the disk(s) are encrypted [BitLocker etc.] a criminal has no easy access to the files stored on the device without those credentials.

Depends Totally on what you do with it. If you use it to post pics of all your new, expensive toys, along with your address & the dates you're going to be away on a cruise, you're begging someone to rob you. If you use it as a means of communicating with your customers, well, millions of companies & businesses like it just fine. F/Book, & all those using it, Only have access to what you provide them. You may not like F/Book -- & there are Lots of reasons not to -- don't use the service on those grounds, but don't think that by simply signing up you're giving them access to everything you own.

DoktorThomas™, ?? physical access is still very much a concern!! As a computer consultant, I would say 80 percent of the servers I have come across have little to no controlled physical access. One of my clients has the server right next to their kitchen sink!! Its dumb, but their are millions of small business's out there that would love to have lasers and biometric hand and eye scanners protecting their equipment, but money and space dont allow for restricting access, or at least its too low on their priorities. And usually if its not in the wide open they want to put it in a closet without ventilation,etc. And yes, disgruntled employees,etc have always been and still are a huge concern. In fact we all know by now its impossible to stop all the hackers if they want in bad enough, minus unplugging it from the internet, but then they could just pay an employee to walk up and log right in...... So ya, at least this is a helpful solution to one of many problems IT faces when it comes to security. In fact Im thinking it would be pretty cool if I could just have bunch of cheap usb sticks maybe on a key ring that I took with me when going on site to my clients. And I could also give it to my techs when they need access. Even better if there was a way to have one usb stick get access to many computers, servers, or one per client/location anyways? The doctors story is one that needs further scrutiny. My bet is that the user, who is given an SD card to insert before using the computer/laptop to do whatever work they are going to do, will be so focused on doing that work, they will forget they used that SD card, and walk away leaving the system totally exposed to anyone wanting to check out what the doctor has been up too..
No thanks. At least with my system as it is, when I walk away without logging off, it does so for me after a short period of time. If someone steals that laptop, they will have absolute access to everything on the computer, and there is no way that you can stop them from doing what ever damage they like, using all your credentials that you may have saved on the device.
It is an interesting software/idea. But for me, I need something that I can open the computer with, log in to all my connected sites, without leaving hardware behind. Put the card in, unlock everything and remove the card back to my pocket immediate. This allows the system to self lock and there is no chance that the "key" is still left in the door.

The possibility from your 3rd paragraph is also possible with our software without any problems. Simply set the hardware key to "Nothing happens"when you remove the hardware key. After logging in, you can immediately put the key back into your pocket and work on your computer. Then the screen saver should be set so that the computer locks automatically after a certain time. And so your wishes are fulfilled: -)

Jimguru, Our software products (abylon LOGON or encryption solutions) generally do not offer a backdoor or default password.
If nothing has been changed in the settings, you can switch to the normal Windows logon in the abylon LOGON dialog via the button "Cancel" or the keyboard with "ESC".

Another possibility of our software is that the login password is changed daily by abylon LOGON.This means that the user can no longer log on if the hardware key is lost or defective. Dimma, our software is a pure logon solution that complements the Windows logon. No encryption or bios protection is offered.
The big advantage is that you can use a very complex Windows password without having to enter it every time.
If the hardware key (e. g. USB stick) is defective or lost, the so-called SecureID (emergency password) can be used. It is also possible to use more than one USB stick for a login account.

Who said anything about "human memorable"? Recovery passwords should be long and complex and locked in a safe; all multifactor authentication systems do this. The point of this software is to *not* have a human-memorable/easily crackable password.

The only way that I'd think hardware would be superior is because fewer people may know the login details, e.g. an employee can't leak a password they never knew.

FWIW, from reports I've read about exploits that have been reported to Microsoft, Microsoft's stance tends to be: if they're on the machine already, Game Over. When it comes to the NSA/CIA & their contractors & subcontractors, if/when they get into the firmware [during manufacture, when they have physical access, when they get into a manufacturer's systems, when they subvert an update process etc.], that's as Game Over as you can get. And it's not just the NSA/CIA -- security experts say to buy a throwaway laptop if you're traveling outside your home country, & literally throw it away before you get back home.
No software can protect you 100% [neither can air gapping a system if someone wants in badly enough].
