Dear GOTD users,
there seems to be some error on the developers end.
We've reported the problem to them and hope for the possibility to have the rerun soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

$1.99 lifetime or not. I downloaded and installed 2 hours before time was up and emailed 7thshare and I think they should still honor there free period. The fact they tried to squirm out of it for a lot of us is shady to me.

I'm confused what you're offering for $1.99, that is original price $45.

I went to the normal purchase page, http://7thshare.com/purchase/any-dvd-ripper.html , and the only thing that is original price $45 is a one year license (on sale currently for $26).

The original price (as shown anyway) of a lifetime license is $69.99 (on sale currently for $29)

To the people that got an overdue message, you should probably be thankful. I was an early installer and had no problems in getting the program, installing it and then registering it. But I was never able to get a video I could see and I tried several ways. I just got audio and sub-titles, no video, I am running WIN10, 64 bit and I tried two rip different DVD's.

Installed, but the program ended an hour earlier than it was suppose to. It asks now for the installer to purchase a license. I will uninstall and use another program, but wanted to let the GiveAway people know about this.

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your kind offer, which I won't take advantage of, as it would be perverting the GOTD spirit of public testing of software. I'm sure you have never thought of if that way but your offer might be construed as a breach of GOTD terms and therefore I shall not be a part of it.

"The registration is overdue. If you want to continue using this software, please purchase a new registration code."

I get this with a legitimate Gmail address and a direct cut-and-paste from the read me file, even after multiple attempts.

That fact and the random comments mostly about other products make me highly suspect the 86% thumbs up.

The problem I have with 7thShare Any DVD ripper is that when loading a video that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 is that the converted video is 640 x 480. There is no way of adjusting the frame size and the video bitrate when converting videos.
I'd like to see a full screen when editing the video such as cropping it. The sliders for the special effect are not long enough making it difficult to do small adjustments to the brightness etc.
If this had more adjustable features and was easier to use then I'd like it more.

I installed this just because I didn't have any other ripper installed. Worked fine on my test of a few "Great Courses" instructional DVDs. Conversions formats are plentiful. I rarely rip DVDs, so can't comment on speed vs. other products.

Installs and runs easily (W10 x64). Ripping is fast enough, even on my old two-core laptop - output quality seems fine. The downside at present is that there's some obvious options missing. As a suggestion for the developers - add the option to simply copy the audio (or selected audio track) as the default - not every user knows what bit rate etc to set. Also - there's no option to preserve the chapters - it's either one slab of video or a separate video for each chapter. And maybe add a one-click option to rip the main film only - defaulting to rip every trailer, notice, extra and audio track on the disc seems backwards for the most likely use of this app.

Andy, I find that DVDFab Decrypter does exactly that; it is designed to copy the whole disk or just the movie to your hard drive for preservation/watching at a later date. The quality of the 'ripped' disk/movie is amazing.

Enjoy,

Rip DVD to 4K / 1080p videos, ... is very confusing. 1920x1080Pixels / inch is still Full HD quality. Still the most used.
Rip a regular DVD with an image resolution of 720x576 pixels / inch to 4K image resolution with two options; 4K cinema 4096x2160 or 4K ultra 3840x2160 pixels / inch. The video quality will not be improved by it. For Blu-ray that can be done, then the question is; can that program rip bly-ray? That information is nowhere to be seen.

Reply   |   Comment by Ian Wolfe  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+16)

Ian Wolfe, to rip Blu-ray, you'd need to buy a different product: http://7thshare.com/purchase/any-blu-ray-ripper.html Also, what is not in evidence at their web site is whether their software deals well with various protection/encryption methods. If not, this software may only be useful for format conversions.

Reply   |   Comment by AnAceBuyer  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Ian Wolfe, I also wondered about this. When I click the link to their product web page, I notice the first of the screen shots shows an option to "Load BD Disc" (as well as "Load DVD Disc"), which to me seems to indicate that it can also tread Blu-ray (and yes, that screen shot window title says "7thShare Any DVD Ripper"). A bit confusing.

Reply   |   Comment by mark_wr  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

"protection/encryption methods....very confusing also!"

Video Blu-ray discs typically have loads of DRM -- there may be several different types of DRM on one disc -- & it's continuously evolving to try to stay a step ahead of apps like 7thShare's Any Blu-ray Ripper. That makes getting updates to the program important to keep up with things like changing DRM methods in the Java programming.

"what is not in evidence at their web site is whether their software deals well with various protection/encryption methods. If not, this software may only be useful for format conversions."

Could always use the free MakeMKV to copy the Blu-ray video to an MKV file without re-encoding, which doesn't take too long since you're just copying the video from one place to another, then use 7thShare HD Video Converter to get it into the size &/or format you want.

videohelp[.]com/software/MakeMKV

"I have no Blu-ray."

Drives start around $50-$60, and come in 2 versions -- internal, which are larger, and can also be used externally with a USB adapter that'll cost ~$20, & much smaller, more fragile laptop drives stuck in portable USB housings. Movies on Blu-ray tend to run about $5 more than the DVD version at stores like Best Buy. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you -- IMHO the video quality is slightly better than the same movie streamed at 4k, because they have to use heavy video compression to make the video file small enough to stream.

Note: the only reason to re-encode Blu-ray is to reduce the size of the very large video files on the disc. Today's devices are powerful enough that Blu-ray video will play just fine as-is on the cheapest Kindle HD tablet.

In response to [ Ian Wolfe ],

It's NOT "pixels per INCH", as 1920 or whatever can be accomplished by tiny phone screens and gargantuan wall-mounted television screens, which obviously have different pixels per INCH, even though that are all 1920 pixels across in their native resolution.

It's image/video pixels across, down, and refresh, regardless of the presentation device size.
