Dear users,
If you are getting the error "Files are corrupt", please, carefully follow the instructions below:

1) disable the anti-virus suite and restart the computer. Make sure it won't start automatically with the computer.
2) download the program archive once again and extract the contents to a dedicated folder
3) Carefully follow the installation instructions in the readme.txt file.

There should be no problems with the installation. Make sure you switch your anti-virus back on after the installation. Please mind that all the files are checked for viruses beforehand, so you may rest assured, the installation is 100% clean.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Giveaway of the Day, "disable the anti-virus suite and restart the computer

Surely you joke. Why would I do this?

Please mind that all the files are checked for viruses beforehand, so you may rest assured, the installation is 100% clean

Yeah, right... "trust me" That's always a good plan, ins't it? Why ever should I allow this program to run free of basic A/V detection?

If the developer can't develop an installer that works with most A/V software, maybe the developer needs to find another occupation. There's enough malware already. Don't try to convince me that my A/V program should be turned off.

u have too many stand alone apps. your DVD TO DVD copy software should also include a video to DVD function so users can burn copies of downloaded movies to a DVD as well as other video applications .To appeal to more people u have to start making software that have more then one function. something like the FreeMake video converter. No one wants standalone apps. cluttering up their desktop and slowing down their PCs.

Here we again, being told we have to disable out anti-virus protection in order to download and install a GOTD offering. Someone out there in GOTD Land seems to be missing the whole point of anti-virus software, just in case you missed it first time around its designed to protect computers etc. from being infected! Would you stop taking medication from your doctor because didn't like the colour of the pills! I for one haven't experienced this problem with Norton, but I certainly wouldn't disable my anti-virus software to download anything. For crying out loud, GOTD fix or replace your wrapper to something that prevents users having to do this, it's not difficult, your just being lazy. By the way software worked without any issues but as I already have other software that does an equally good job, but I play with it for a while and give it a proper road test. Please sort out the wrapper issue.

Installed easily, looked dead simple to use, but kept showing 'windows has detected a problem and needs to close' every time it tried to load the source folder. Might be because I was doing it over a network drive, but no good to me - uninstalled

After I click on application a Windows request to allow change comes up on my Win10 system. I click OK and my chrome browser comes up with, "4Videosoft DVD Copy 3.2.28 activated — what next?" but the program never loads. I checked the C: drive Program file and Program (x86) and the program is not in my computer. I have tried this twice. Any thoughts?

Installed without the slightest difficulty while using the Panda Cloud antivirus.

For those having difficulty with Kaspersky; wonder if this link would help:-

Had another look at using exclusions and if applied using some imagination and a modicum of intelligence cannot see how would compromise system security.

The web site for 4Videosoft DVD Copy says it works on Homemade video DVDs several times: "Backup homemade DVD movies to DVD folder and ISO image file on PC"

It could just be a language/culture barrier sort of thing, with 4Videosoft simply seeking to avoid pressure from the US media industry. But I think the kind folks at 4Videosoft should be made aware that many consumers will feel that they mean exactly what they say.

That could be a wink & nod sort of thing, or it could at any time be made literal... If I ran the trial or the GOTD, and it worked fine to backup DVDs I've bought, I'd still be hesitant to buy it, feeling that at any time in the future they could decide maintaining decryption capabilities was too expensive, & turn it off. And of course at that point the software would be useless -- you can easily copy ANY DVD without DRM, using nothing more than Windows Explorer to copy the files/folders off the disc.

DVD & particularly Blu-Ray copy software isn't as popular as it once was, and fewer sales combined with better DRM make the software less profitable -- one of the original companies selling this sort of software, SlySoft [AnyDVD & AnyDVD HD] gave up the biz, though someone else is trying to pick up where they left off. You will most likely see fewer companies selling fewer apps for backing up these discs. Studios adding Cinavia to their discs adds a few more nails to the coffin [it's becoming more common on Blu-Ray, & has started showing up on DVDs]. Cinavia DRM is pretty much unbeatable & built-in to licensed playback software & stand-alone Blu-Ray players [it's getting hard to find a DVD player to buy].

That said, hard drives are still somewhat cheap -- cheap enough that the folks that are into copying their DVDs [and Blu-Ray] to hard drives for playback continue, & will probably continue to do so. And it's easy to watch on your HDTV nowadays -- a Wireless Display Adapter that plugs into your HDTV runs $50 or less, Android boxes for playback can be had in the $30-$50 range, & are getting better, and miniPCs or NUCs [often 4-5" square] are getting better & cheaper.

So grab 4Videosoft DVD Copy while it's on GOTD if you think it will be useful for you -- because of the Homemade bit I stop short of saying you should buy it, which is up to you anyway, noting that at some point in the future updating the software for newer DRM *may* be necessary. For alternatives, DVDFab Passkey works -- in a move possibly intended to hurt their competition, Fengtao gave away licenses for a couple of months recently, so loads & loads of people are running it.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+34)

mike,

Cinavia is not unbeatable. DVDFab's flagship product can remove Cinavia from most (but not yet all) Cinavia-protected movies. In addition to being ableto remove Cinavia, it's the best overall DVD/Blu-Ray copy software out there, but it's expensive. A product called CinEx HD can also remove Cinavia, but again only from certain movies. The reason only certain movies are included is, there has to be a database built in order for either program to remove Cinavia from a specific movie, and currently only the most recent movies have a database. However, both programs' vendors promise that if you have a movie for which there is not yet a database, let them know about it and they'll develop a database for it. I don't know if they keep their word on that, or if they do how long it would take; I've never needed that service.

4VideoSoft does seem to go out of its way to make the point that this software copies HOMEMADE discs, and I'm not willing to install it just to see if it will copy a commercial one also or not, but I agree that since it's simple to copy a disc you've made yourself without a $40 piece of software, it's reasonable to assume it will copy a commercial disc but they just avoid saying it for obvious reasons.

To the poster about kaspersky internet security or antivirus you are correct. Pausing the application does not work you have to go to settings and untick start at computer startup then restart your pc, this allows giveaway of the day to connect thanks for the heads up.

Gordon and Vance,

So this is probably something to do with Kaspersky anti-virus... does anybody know if there is a "work around" for this? (or should I switch off Kaspersky as Gordon mentioned...)

Any advice welcome ...

I have had an issue lately when trying to install stuff from the GameGiveaway site, and found that the new version of AVG is blocking the installs, so I had to temporarily disable it in order to install. I don't know if anyone has had that problem here, but it is something to look at if you do have issues.

I don't get the utility of this program. It says to back up your 'homemade' DVD's. That implies you have the source files to create the DVD so why do you need the program to rip your own DVD's and recreate the source you already have?

I am getting the warning that the installation files are corrupt - it is not the first time this has happened with giveawayoftheday downloads - I suspected it was something to do with my anti virus - Kaspersky - but, as others have the same issues I don't think it can be this.

I don't know if the installation problems are the same as mine used to be, but I have to restart my pc without Kaspersky running or I get the "files corrupt" message. It has something to do with the gcd file contacting the website for authorisation and KIS saying no. I don't have any issues any more.

Reply   |   Comment by Gordon  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Gordon, is there a way to allow this file through kis

Reply   |   Comment by vance  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

vance, I don't know but there probably is a way to do that. I used to disable KIS and tried to run the setup but there was still a component which ran in the background so now I reboot without KIS running and I've never had a problem since.
