You can make ringtones using Sound Editor Deluxe which was given by GOTD last february 7...

Not bad. Easy to use. Toolbar is NOT mandatory. $19.95? No way. Too many free ways to do this. You'd interest more people with $4.99 maybe. But no way for $20!

Installed OK. Didn't think it would install if I checked "no thanks" so I just unchecked everything above that and it installed the toolbar I didn't want. I uninstalled the toolbar through Control Panel so it's gone.

Not too impressed with the program, though. It plays music very choppy.

If it's true all you need is an MP3 file for ringtones (I don't have a mobile phone yet but will be getting one), why not just use the free Audacity?

Careful ppl, this progie hijacks (or spawns) your browser when both installing & when uninstalling. Also be careful, it installs its own toolbar into your browser.(i dont remember seeing any option for this.)

This program claim that it's a ring tone maker! All it is is a sound ripper which extracts the audio file from video's. So in theory it's a false claim of being a ring tone maker. You can not change the pitch or tone unlike other programs out there. There are other FREE audio rippers out there if you just want to rip the audio files, and i wouldn't bother with this one!!

There are plenty of free websites on the web that will create ringtones out of your mp3's. Just simply upload a file, crop what you want, add effects, convert, and your done.

There is 1 I use all the time forget the link at the moment though. Just google for free online ringtone maker or whatever.

WOW! THANKS...THANKS...THANKS...MANY THANKS GAOTD for this nice program.

I'm not a techie, so I was a little skeptical about trying this one, after having read all the comments above. But I must say it worked like a charm for me. I've already created 4 ringtones with my favourite refrains and I am thrilled about it.

It worked perfectly, the results are just as expected, and there is almost no learning curve - so easy to understand from the first glimpse. The only shortcomings I have found are the quality of the sound played in the program before converting and the lack of showing the duration of the created ringtone.

I don't know about other programs, free or not, but this one does a great job and is definitely a keeper for me. I only wish I knew how to put the ringtones on my Blogger-blog in order to share them with others.

It installed and registered fine on Win Xp Sp2 but I can't open ANY file. I tried several different mp3s, wav, mp4, m4a, avi and flv. Every time I get message "your file format not supported"! I can open these files on my computer, so I have all needed codecs. And why does this program connects to the internet every time it starts?

I've tried and tried to load music on this program and I keep getting the message that it's not a recognized file format (these are all MP3 files). I've tried changing the default settings on the program and that doesn't do any good either. Can anyone offer me a solution or should I just delete the program?

Thank you

Installed on Win7 X32/X64 bit dual quad Intel with no problem. Runs fine, totally satisfied does has stated. As previous users stated did not need to install toolbar. Easily found help file next to minimize button on start page. Thank you GAOTD for continuing to release great programs.

Installed easily on my Win7 system (without toolbar).
However, I am unable to use it as when trying to load a music or video file of any type in to the program, I get the error message "Your selected file format is not supported, please select again".
Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem so it would be handy if the developers showed a bit of interest.... Maybe I'll email them...

You DO -NOT- HAVE TO INSTALL THE TOOLBAR !!!!!!

Just click the "No Thanks" option... the software will install normally... then a GOTD window opens with registration info, which you copy into the program's registration window. (Or grab it from the readme.txt file in the GOTD download.) No problem... (installed to Win7, 32bit).

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

As others have said... playback within the software is herky-jerky (and should be better), but suffices (barely) to allow you to set start/end points... and after creating the 'ringtone', the resulting audio file plays fine in -other- media-playing software.

This software's strength is in clipping/creating an audio clip from a video file. I chose an .flv file, and clipped the audio, creating an MP3... seems to work great. No need to rip audio, then edit clip... you can do it all in this program, reasonably quickly. I'm almost excited to see how many video formats I can use this on.

Playback could be better, but it does the job.

"The only thing you do have to watch out for is the fact that your obligated to install a toolbar in order to complete the installation. Even though it’s just a matter of uninstalling the toolbar once the software is installed and activated I still find it disrespectful to force it on us this way."

Not true, just pick the decline or lower radio button and it will still install without a problem, I just did it and it still installs no problem.

#4 (Jibaro)- at the bottom of the page informing you that the toolbar is to be installed there is a check box (no thanks) that allows you to opt out of the tool bar installation. Just thought you should know.

The wording on the toolbar installation is deceptive, leading you to think you need it to agree to the terms and conditions to install the program when that is not so, it is for the toolbar only. I chose "No thanks" and the program installed just fine.
I did like that you could copy/paste the entire registration code at once and didn't have to enter each section like some programs.

Tried a few times to install program. Could not get the program to start the first time. After reading the comment from Jibaro, I realized it is because I refused to install the toolbar. I do not install any search toolbars on my computer, therefore, this is a program I will not take advantage of. GOTD wants us to spread the word? I will spread the word that if you want to install one of their programs, you may be asked to install a toolbar, therefore, you shouldn't waste time with their giveaways. That is bait and switch, plain and simple.

Does anyone know if this will let you put ringtones on a Verizon phone, and how to do that? I don't like the idea that this program requires installation of a toolbar, so I don't want to try installing unless there's a good chance it would work for me.

Expected a software that would extract instrument music from a song. All I find after installation, is a format converter that can also cut the music into clips. Unless anybody else can tell me different, it is a quick uninstall for me. I already have free software that can do that.

Please watch out during installation this software wants to take over your home page (sorted out by unselecting the relevant box)and the software also tried to install IE add-ons (disabled with the help of WinPatrol)

There is actually no obligation to install the 4Media toolbar. When prompted and asked if you accept the terms to install the toolbar, simply click on the "no thank you" option, the software installation will continue normally with no toolbar included.
Regarding the software ... registered without a hitch on XP Pro 32 bit machine. It's fairly unnecessary (as most smartphones have this functionality built in) but makes the task a bit easier on the computer.

#4 Although not obvious, if you say no to toolbar at installation the software still installs without toolbar. I also thought it wouldn't install the software before trying it anyway. it is really worded in an unclear way, probably so that more people will install.

@ Jibaro (currently post # 4)

"... your obligated to install a toolbar in order to complete the installation..." This is absolutely not true, if you read carefully the various installation prompts at a certain point (during installation) the "No Thanks" box is there to be checked (and if you check it) nothing but the application gets installed.

Rather than writing "...I find it disrespectful to force it on us this way..." you should avoid doing things in a rush.

@ everybody else

Jibaro was right when he wrote "...you do have to watch out..." because if you don't you will miss the "No Thanks" box :D

Happy Sunday

Awesome! Downloaded perfectly, registration was a breeze, and the thing works as it says it will work...

I'm not that much of a techie, so some programs are difficult for me to figure out...but not this one. Very straight forward and...well, I LOVE IT!

Many of my friends have asked me, "Hey! Where did you get that ringtone?" and when I tell them I have a free software program that generates ringtones from your usual Mp3's or other song downloads...they're wicked jealous!

Thanks GAOTD! Yet again another awesome offer from you guys!

Just to clarify, your not obligated to install the toolbar, when you get to that point, read the whole page, just check the don't accept button. As for the program itself, it installed fine but it was a bit jumpy when I played an mp3 for editing. I also noticed after converting the file sounded a bit off. This is my first comment, thank you GOTD. Not a bad program but its missing a few options and also it should tell you how big your clip is, since I have BB it doesn't really matter how long the RT is, but I know that some other phones need to be under 30 seconds. Just sayin.

Installed and activated without a hitch on an XP Home SP3. The only thing you do have to watch out for is the fact that your obligated to install a toolbar in order to complete the installation. Even though it's just a matter of uninstalling the toolbar once the software is installed and activated I still find it disrespectful to force it on us this way.

The interface is very straightforward, but it does have a simple help section just in case. (tiny arrow right by the minimize) Was very quick when converting and includes a 3-sec fade in and out.

Even though on my try the file I used sounded kinda jumbled when playing it straight from the software, once converted it sounded fine on the media player.

Will continue to play with it. It might come in handy.
