Simple download and install. I have PowerDVD on another PC and that has a lot of bells and whistles with it. I found 4Easysoft Blu-ray Player to load quickly and seems very straight forward in comparison. I tested it out with Spaceballs and Rogue One on blu-ray and loaded right up to the menu. Playing them appeared flawless.

(Unfortunately I find it too difficult to figure out how to get VLC to play blu-rays.)

Freeware Player's
Start a list because there are many.
Freeware Players do an excellent job
I don't know how to make a player worth $179.40 a year.
Here is my best recommendation to all video player programmers
shuttle/jog a feature available only for highend video editing
I first became aware of it from a Mitsubishi vcr. To date I think it is the most superior way to watch videos
If a dvr or video player were to use shuttle/jog I still would not spend $179.40 a year(maybe a one time fee) but it is the only feature I can thank of that freeware players don't have. I don't know how it would be implemented as it uses two rheostats the closest thing to it on a computer is a mouse wheel

I don't think VLC can play protected discs. It seems that the current video player doesn't have any issues with protected discs. Perhaps it can't play protected discs with CINAVIA.

I recommend VLC Media Player. It plays everything this does. It's Freeware.

"I recommend VLC Media Player. It plays everything this does."

Most Blu-ray discs were bought retail, and have considerable DRM. VLC Will Not play those, though you *may* be able to get a workaround working for at least some titles. Paid software like PowerDVD Ultra pays the license fees to decrypt the DRM -- most of the Blu-ray players from Chinese devs handle the DRM through unofficial means, which they usually do not advertise because they could face legal action like DVDFab.

That said, if Blu-rays aren't your thing, players like MPC-HC have additional features that might improve the picture, which VLC doesn't have. 4Easysoft Blu-ray Player also advertises AI enhancement, though I can't yet say how well that works.

Ken, VLC is great, but it can't play commercial Blu-rays as can't decrypt them. There are a couple of ways around this, both involving makemkv, but on its own it won't play them...
