I downloaded and installed without a hitch. Very simple program to use and it works very well.
This is definitely a keeper.
Thank you GOTD and PCwinSoft for this program.

Not wishing to discourage PCWinSoft, but some software developers do leave me wondering if they exist in a parallel universe rather than the one which the rest of us are inhabiting. As is the case today.

At $29.95 retail for an email-registered license with updates restricted to 12 months only, 1AV Image Converter 1.0 appears to be a comprehensive app offering an extensive range of file handling abilities.

However: at $0.00 retail, license-free, no email address harvesting, and with unrestricted lifetime updates, developer Irfan Skiljan's software delivers this:

http://www.irfanview.com/main_formats.htm

The continuously updated Irfanview is one of the most successful freeware products ever created, and deservedly so. It celebrates its 21st birthday this year. It may be that PCWinSoft hasn't encountered Irfanview in these past 21 years. Perhaps it might like to now, because the chances of its own paid-for 1AV Image Converter ever enjoying so long a life are, frankly, non-existent.

Thanks, GOTD, and thanks PCWinSoft. But no thanks.

MikeR,

I agree that IrfanView is a wonderful application. And so are some other "freeware" titles.

But, if 1AV Image Converter can not only read, but also SAVE in the 105 file (or so) formats mentioned above as part of its conversion abilities, then it would have IrfanView beat by a long shot as IrfanView only "saves" to 19 popular formats per the table you referenced.

For someone wanting to convert TO such obscure file formats 1AV Image Converter might be worth the price of admission, if it indeed has that ability.

Also, I'm pretty sure that IrfanView is considered "donationware" -- free to use, but the author has needed to eat these past 21 years to keep up his efforts! Hopefully he earned some interest on the $5 I kicked in many, many years ago... ;-)

Googling "online image file conversion" or, say, "online image file conversion mrw vicar" reveals websites as online-convert.com and aconvert.com which apparently also can handle such obscure formats.

However, read about their privacy terms and decide whether you want your images being posted and processed on remote computers. Converting your images on your own machine should be a big advantage of today's title (assuming it can do the job OK, of course).

MikeR, Hi and thanks for your comment. I agree with your argument in full, but would like to explain how certain software companies argue re sales: They count on the fact that there will always be consumers that are not especially knowledgeable when it comes to the magnitude of programs available performing a certain task. Basically, those consumers do not know HOW to find similar programs, and like many other consumers they also prefer they prefer the easiest solution to pay $29,95 for what´s in front of them. Personally - I believe you are like me - I always try to find the best deal available which usually ends up being a free program.

MikeR, Thank you for the information concerning Irfanview. I couldn't install 1AV Image Converter. Disabling my antivirus program didn't help. So I decided to go with Irfanview.
