i have firefox and tried this to erase my tracks to see what it would do and it deleted all of my saved links and installed a different version of firefox. i uninstall it and did a reset using a restore point. I'll stick with glary's tracks eraser .

Can't seem to be able to install it. Just get the "software activated" , When extracted (extract now) it just does the same the same thing. Probably due to my computer being an antique, me too...

After waiting for quite long time searching the registry with the "Start Search" option, I got a message in German, i suppose, when I tried to delete.
No deletion was made and ,unfortunately I don't know German to find the cause. Is it only for the paid version or not?

Windows grows. Regardless any software you've installed, month by month the total size of all the files stored on a Windows partition increases. When you install software, there are 3 folders that [too] often grow as well: C:\Windows \Installer, C:\Windows \ Winsxs, & C:\ProgramData. The Installer & ProgramData folders can grow with copies of setup files when software's installed &/or updated, while Winsxs collects multiple copies of the Microsoft C/C++ runtimes [its size, & the number of files/folders it holds can often surprise you]. And if you're running a graphics card [or separate/discrete GPU in a laptop], copies of the driver setup files are stored in C:\Windows\ System32\ Driverstore. With AMD graphics for example that can mean 1 or 2 driver versions a month if you install the betas, at roughly 500 MB each. This is the stuff that I find makes using a limited amount of storage challenging, e.g. a 240 GB or smaller SSD, or worse, a device with a emmc drive.

An app like 1-abc.net Cleaning Box can be useful, but they're not going to do much about any of that stuff I just listed. Windows has some tools that can help with its growth every time there's a Windows update, mainly Disk Cleanup, and they finally can work fairly well with older versions like 7. Win10 has more ways to clean this stuff, but then when Disk Cleanup regularly finds 3 GB or so of trash to remove after monthly updates, 10 needs this sort of thing more than 7.

windowscentral[.]com/how-reclaim-storage-space-after-installing-windows-10-fall-creators-update

Regarding the Cleaning Box registry cleaner, there's more than enough that's been said in the past about cleaning the registry, both pros & cons. It's relatively painless to run the free open source Regshot, recording changes made to the registry when you install software in a simple text file. Save those logs & you have something to go by -- you can see what's left after an uninstall, &/or after using a software removal/uninstaller app &/or a registry cleaner.

When it comes to cleaning up after a web browser, maybe the easiest way to handle that is not to leave stuff behind in the 1st place, e.g. using the Private Window option available in most [all?] browsers. You can set Firefox, Internet Explorer, & Edge to delete temp files on exit, & most all browsers have a function to delete everything in their tools or options dialogs. And there are also portable versions of Firefox & Opera that don't leave stuff behind. All of those file recovery apps we've seen work on those deleted files from your browser, so running a portable version on a RAMDisk, or a regular version in a VM on a drive/partition that can be erased, might appeal to those feeling they have a reason to be more paranoid.

Made a copy of my entire C drive and checked out the cleaning box. Glad I came here...found out about CCleaner's malware and how much junk CCleaner did not remove. Ran Cleaning box... No hickups after registry cleaned, cleaned caches etc. no problems...in fact my machine is now faster. Impressive! will wait a while and will consider buying after reasonable trial time and availability of cash....in bucket list :) . Thanks for software.

Why would you pay $40 for something that C-Cleaner does better?

That's just for the version 5.34 or older. My current CCleaner remains useful and updated

Kuhol Supnet,

It was version 5.33 ONLY, and only the 32 bit installed version, not the portable version.

I use Opera & Microsoft Edge sometimes, in the surf trail cleaning function of this software I could not find any option to clean Opera or Edge, only cleaning function for browser was Internet Explorer/Firefox/Google Chrome. So it's of no use to me.
Thought some of you might want to know this before you download it in case your main purpose is to clean your browser.

Jim, I am trying this app now and it's definitely getting stuff c-cleaner does not. That's just my personal experience, but at least I have tried it. So again post proof or at least your experience or admit you are lying and have never even used this.

Bob, Thanks! All I use is Opera. Been with them since version 3 or 4. :)

The registry cleaner alone is far more thorough than c-cleaner. I don't even use the browser cleaners, have cleaner extensions. The disk cleaner is really thorough also. So you may want to try it anyway regardless of browsers.

I have been using c-cleaner for many years and still like it but this will be my disk and registry cleaner.

Bob, yeah! Opera user. The BEST browser of all!

Reply   |   Comment by Morgan Pierce  –  3 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-7)

xsquid, I think he is referring to, and I agree with, if you are charging for a piece of software, it should do everything including ALL browser support...I too have tried this but it will not detect Opera or Microsoft Edge...that and CCleaner is free

Reply   |   Comment by DJ  –  3 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

DJ, ? The person talking about the browser cleaning did not mention price and this is a giveaway (in other words costs nothing) so nobody is paying for it. He is telling people not to download this free version because it does not do those browsers. I am saying it does disk cleaning and registry well. The pay version was not in that part of the coversion.

The person that mentioned price said nothing about the browsers. He just made a blanket statement saying c-cleaner is better. It's not better for disk or registry cleaning.

JIM
"Why would you pay $40 for something that C-Cleaner does better?"

Where does it mention browser cleaining in that statement? How are you agreeing with something that was not said?

A totally different person named BOB mentioned the browser cleaning and nothing about price (since it's free anyway) and said don't bother downloading it if you need browser cleaning only.

You seem to be remarking on a statement that possibly came from the voices in your head as it was not made here.

Where are you and JIM coming up with a price on this giveaway anyway? It's free.

xsquid, If you look what I said and didn't delve into the world of insulting me, in a backhanded way, I was replying to your 1st reply to the thread starter" Jim, I am trying this app now and it's definitely getting stuff c-cleaner does not. That's just my personal experience, but at least I have tried it. So again post proof or at least your experience or admit you are lying and have never even used this." and said "I think he is referring to"...notice the words "I think" and my not mentioning Bob??
If you comprehend what I said, "if you are charging $40 for a piece of software, it should do everything including ALL browsers"...IT costs $40 if you didnt install and activate this piece of software, on your computer, on the GOTD day of freedom..if you try re-installing it from the download, since there was no licence issued by the vendor you get "Giveaway period for this software is over. Please check our website for a new giveaway"..ie you want to continue using it, it costs $40!
The next time you wish to insult folks, "You seem to be remarking on a statement that possibly came from the voices in your head as it was not made here", pay attention to what is said and how it's said, do research..it's great if it's your personal experience, but dont go insulting folks because it's not theirs!
