I didn't use and register it the day i installed it.
I tried today, but it sayed "invalid key".
I succeeded by setting my computer's date to the 22 Feb, date of the released by GOTD, and it worked fine! ;-)

Automated retrieval of album art and song lyrics - great time saver.
Unfortunately, my system crashed the first time I used it (crash was not related to Zortam) and now launching it again, it seems the activation and the mp3 library is gone!! I don’t know how to get the activation key now that the deadline is over. This sucks

Aww. That's too bad, Mikey. Sorry to hear that. Especially since you seemed to like the program so much.

I'd like to try to help you, not sure if I can, but worth a try.

First of all, fix the original problem unrelated to this software that caused crashes. Did you fix that one? You don't want to have it continue messing things up.

Next, maybe you can first try what's termed an "IN PLACE" installation of this software. That means installing it again 'over top' of what you have. This *may* reinstall the missing pieces and correct itself. And if you previously registered it validly during the proper time period, that key may still reside on your system and function. MAKE a BACKUP of the app's folder in PROGRAM FILES before making changes, if you want to preserve it in its current condition.

If that doesn't work, next you can try to see if you can 'repair' it using the ADD/REMOVE control panel. (Fat chance, probably not, usually its only Microsoft office type programs that have a 'repair' button) so.. moving right along...

Uninstall it using the ADD/REMOVE programs control panel. Make a backup of the app's folder in program files folder first if you want. And optionally the registry. (Rule #1 is always have a backup.) Or if you don't care since it doesn't work anyway, just uninstall it. THEN TRY TO INSTALL it again fresh. Sometimes it's also nice to reboot after uninstall and before reinstalling, up to you.

The key code that you got before, during the proper time *may* still be in the registry. Ok, lets assume for troubleshooting it asks to register again. You might try the key code you used originally (Hopefully you saved it! Or wrote it down) Anyway you could give that a try.

There are some more advanced techniques such as doing binary compares, and editing the CLASSID codes in the registry but in all honesty, if it's taking that much effort, it's just a lot easier to buy it. lol. If one has a job where you earn even $100 per hour, one could operate smarter by just buying a software program for $25 in 10 minutes and earning the 100 per hour for the rest of the hour, rather than spending more than 15 minutes on it. But sometimes its fun and advantageous to give it a little try anyway for troubleshooting and learning experience. Or if one is bored and it just interests one to tinker around for a bit to learn how things work.

Ok, sorry to hear that you were sad that it didn't work for you :( Hope you have good luck and everything turns out well for ya since you liked this program.

No, this is the PRO version. The pro version is installed.
Yes, I know a dialog box comes up at the beginning 'talking' about the freeware version, (which by the way is nice to know they have also!) and then asking you to visit the owner's web page to get the Pro version: IGNORE that message. Just close that box and continue onward. You already have the pro version. Continue progressing FORWARD by closing that Message and when you go to the proper menu, and enter the registration key it will BE the PRO version.

There is no upgrade or anything more to download. 'setup.exe' and 'readme.txt' contain everything you need. Including PRO verison capabilities and activation capabilities built inside. You already have all you need (or at least within the registration time period).

@ Keilaron #145: Re: Blockquote tag -
No, the Blockquote function does not suit the level of customization that I need which may involve pullquotes, alternate hierarchies, numeric tags, dropcode culling, and non-sequential partial extractions. Also it requires non-text P tags which at times alter the flow inserting unnecessary whitespace where it is not wanted. And opens up the possibility for event attributes on non-blog applications within the tag structure. Might be usable on a few, but not as a rule.

This software is, unfortunately, crap.

It has a nice GUI, does a lot of cool and useful things, but it's SLOW. It's slower than it could possibly be expected to be. It locks up completely while it's performing any of its functions, and takes forever to operate on files. Synchronizing id3 tags on a single file takes nearly 15 seconds - and I have a Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz. That operation should be instantly complete per-file.

I like the interface, I like the selection of things it can do, in fact the only real complaint I have is the complete lack of speed. Unfortunately, the complete lack of speed is a horrible deal breaker to me. I don't appreciate software that isn't good at what it does.

The Advanced Specialist (#129) - Then please use the blockquote tag when you do. It makes things a lot easier to read (or even skim).

--downloaded file
--extracted files
--ran "setup"
--installed program but only the freeware version was installed.
--my download came with only "setup.exe" and a readme.txt files.
--no-where could I find a password or code (even in the readme)

Since so many people are having trouble (including me)
and we all can't be so dumb to be unable to install this...

Maybe this upgrade to pro info could be e-mailed to me,
because I was under the impression that I was getting the
"pro" version.
or repost the file with a new extension or time limit....
thanks

I love this software.
Automated retrieval of album art and song lyrics - great time saver.

Unfortunately, my system crashed the first time I used it (crash was not related to Zortam) and now launching it again, it seems the activation and the mp3 library is gone!! I don't know how to get the activation key now that the deadline is over. This sucks

Hi, I have used activations many times from this website many a times without any problems.
Today even after many tries, I was not able to get this software registered through graphical or through cmd line.
It just said entered invalid number (even though copy pasted, waste of time.)
anyways, 24hrs finished, game finished. now sleeping.

#123 Libelous1 is the most likely correct. The name has to be entered exactly as “GiveAwayOfTheDay” (without the quotes).

As far as registration key code, EVERYBODY got exactly the same one. The link "For Developers" at the top of the page explains how this site works. GOTD PAYS the developers for each program, then they distribute the program with exactly the same key they purchased for anyone to download for one day. It's not like some got a working key and others got a non-working key, everyone got the same key. If it is working for most but not working for some then "some" did something wrong.

Apparently this program won't open if you don't enter the registration key right away. So just use the command line from Start and then Run.

If file extensions are turned OFF in Window explorer use this command:
C:\Program Files\Zortam Mp3 Media Studio\zmmspro register

If your extensions are turned ON in Windows Explorer use this command:
C:\Program Files\Zortam Mp3 Media Studio\zmmspro.exe register

Click Start, Run, copy-paste either command depending on how your Windows Explorer is set up, then click OK. You may have to change the command if you installed to any drive other than "C", change the initial drive letter to the drive where you installed. If you don't remember where you installed do a Search for the file zmmspro.exe and adjust the command line accordingly.

Then copy-paste the name GiveAwayOfTheDay where they name goes, then copy-paste the same key code everybody else got, then click OK. If done correctly it WILL work.
