#22 – Thank you BladedThoth. Your reviews are always thorough, helpful and much appreciated for those of us who are not sure of what we are getting into sometimes. Also WhiteRabbit is very helpful although I didn’t see anything from him yet. Anyway just wanted you to know you are appreciated. Also I do not think from what I have seen today that I will be downloading this application. But thanks GOTD as I will download the game for my kids. They love most of the games you have had lately. Thanks to everyone for all of your “negative” and “positive” feedback without which some of us would have more trouble making our final decisions.

Oh dear, did GOTD lose focus on obtaining relevant choices for YOUR PERSONAL needs and preferences…AGAIN! How dare they!

Did you know that for the right price you can actually BUY WHATEVER YOU WANT whenever you want? No, no, its true! And get this, if you purchase an item that “suits your needs” you can do so right away!!!

I really must suggest that you try out this buying thing. It is just heart breaking to see you wasting away (*Sigh*) in wait for GOTD to regain focus on you. Please hurry to a store or something and demand all the customer service to be at your beck and call immediately. Don’t lose anymore sleep over (*Sigh*) not being able to “take advantage” of “at least one piece of software per week” (*sighs*)

Sorry, Swan, I have to stick up for GOTD. They make an effort to check the safety of the software before offering it. I use more thorough security software than the vast majority of users here, and I haven’t seen any problems. Most posts claiming security problems are due to lame security software which generate false positives, or are actually reporting security conditions due to other software on the users’ systems. If you have decent security software, it will block attempts to launch a browser. And products like Zoner Web Gallery are sending large amounts of data out of your computer. The browser launches that you typically see during installation are from GOTD’s activation and/or setup software. I simply block most software that I don’t want to access the Internet.

Hide Window Plus’s hooks are minor, and Easy Macro Recorder uses Windows macro facilities. The only one with serious hooks in the last couple of months is xStarter. It’s neat, but more of a geek toy, and doesn’t have the right mix of features to be very useful to me. Smart Type Assistant uses some keyboard hooks, isn’t smart at all, and uses the wrong Windows facilities for handling key presses (I uninstalled it right away).

The software that does the most damage to your system is actually the multimedia software, especially anything that handles video.

I am finding this pretty irritating y et funny too…
all of these complaints about the ‘ADS’ at the bottom of the created pages..yet if you stopped talking rubish and actually looked into the program settings, as someone says here, it is just the page footer part of the template and it is OPTIONAL and can be changed. So really they are just showing you that you can indeed place a link there if you want. Also, some people might actually think it is OK to give the software they used for their webpage a mention on the webpage!
You’re saying it places ADS o the page…hardly a flashing banner is it…a web address in plain text?!
And yes, JAlbum does the same thing too. It is called helping to spread the word of software you like and find to be good. If you used it and it ends up on a site you made then it’s a nice thing to let visitors know what you like to use and then, using the link on the bottom of the page, they might go and try the program too.
Quit moaning about stupid things and, if you are even considering this type of software, rate it on its merits and not some fake ads idea because you were too lazy to look in the options!

Just updated a previous GAOTD – GridinSoft Notepad (from the Help menu), and now it indicates it is the demo version. I understand why major versions would not be free, but this was a minor update. Be careful or you may loose you free software!

I think I’ll pass on today’s offer yet again. *sighs*

I’ve tried several album programs, including:

Picasa(from Google.)

Flip Album Pro>

I finally settled on two that really appealed to me and I’m having a hard time choosing between the two, as each of them has functions that the other doesn’t. Both Picasa and Flip Album Pro have way more functionality that the Zoner product offered today.

Neither of these programs chew up your CPU and the picture quality is just beautiful. UI is much easier to figure out (than Zoner’s,) as are the menus. I think I’ll stick with what I’ve got today thank you.

Sorry Zoner, but with all the negative comments from users that downloaded your program today – I’ve decided not to even try your product.

It’s gotten to the point that more and more of the GOTD software has become unappealing (to me,) since the majority of users don’t have the expertise to run some of the system software that’s been offered over the past week or so.

It’s just very lucky that I happen to be married to a software engineer, who has warned me away from the last few offers.

Just as an FYI: David also warned that many downloaded software programs that immediately launch Internet Explorer after download, are a potential threat to the user. And let’s face it – we’ve had a few of those lately also – so keep a watchful eye out for downloads that do that.

Guess I’ll be back tomorrow in the hopes that I’ll be able to take advantage of at least one piece of software per week. *sighs*

I have been using JAlbum too – which is freeware – however, JAblbum DOES place ads on the bottom of your pages. They are little tiny text links.

I will give this one a try. Thanks for the choice
