The software is user friendly but the audio quality even at 256 kbps is not go enough to enjoy the music, which is the most negative aspect of this software. I strongly recommend not to waste your time to use this software at all.

Grace #40 I kind of read that sentence differently. It doesn't really seem to say you are forbidden to download the videos but that YouTube doesn't facilitate it through their own software or website. A lot of those videos are amateur videos uploaded by people who probably don't care if you download them or not. I have lots of cute ones on my computer. It's probably considered illegal to download the music and tv videos but I'm kind of with whiterabbit because I'm tired of purchasing the same artists over and over again. I have some artists in LP, cassette tape and CD.

#38 I'm not sure I would worry too much about people stealing the gospel music, if they do they'll probably get their own payback in the afterlife, eh? Seriously though, I have heard that a lot of the big name artists don't make so much through the sales of their music but they make the bulk of their fortunes through merchandising, endorsements and concerts.

I also use Download Helper for YouTube but really I don't watch them often more than once or twice. Who wants to sit there and look at videos for hours on end? And the Youtube videos are very small and often not great quality. Download helper doesn't convert like Youtube Music Downloader but I don't really see the need for that in general unless you want to watch them on your phone.

Something I've noticed since my last post about having difficulties with downloading to 3gp format; if I leave all the settings as they are, it downloads just fine. But if I change anything like making it a bigger size or change fps or audio bitrate, it finishes at 0 bytes. I don't know if that will help anyone to know how to help me, but I thought I'd add it, just in case. Thanks!

Ok,I downloaded it and the install and registration went just fine. However when I tried to download a video, I came up with a problem. It appeared to be downloading, and when it was done I heard a little "ding." When I went to open the video I just downloaded, it said 0 bytes. So I guess it didn't really do anything. I tried to download/convert the video to 3gp. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried it twice. The first time I copied the link into the program, the second time I used the search feature and opened the video I wanted to download and tried converting it that way. Neither time worked for me. Other than not being able to download a video, I like the program! *l* I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone has. Thanks!

This program installed fine on my vista computer. It does it's job (downloading from youtube and converting). It's a nice program. However, if you want to download youtube videos as it is (in flv format) then realplayer will do it for you free.

This is a nice program but maybe not worth the $19.95 for it.

Free software is always apprecitated.........for the sheer novelty if for no other reason. The particular software is ok......but if you use Firefox, there is one FAR better, called "Download Helper". It sets in the the Tools menu merely waitin for you to look at a video..after it has started, look at the tools menu and Download Helper will show the option for Downloading the video.

Totally for-what-it's-worth... Blockbuster sells used DVDs for about 1/2 price. Many stores sell old DVDs for 1/4 the original price or less. Thus the value of the content (video &/or audio) is determined by the media it's on, + how old it is. If you're downloading something, media related costs are $0. If it's old, reduce the price from there! ;}

Seriously though, with the disclaimer that this is just my opinion & I have no legal qualifications etc... As I understand it (C) is somewhat murky in the US at the moment, but you used to be able to make a copy of something you owned, &/or as long as it wasn't for profit & you had a good reason, like a teacher passing out copies of an article -- it was called fair use. None of which will help you when the high $ lawyers come calling -- I think they get paid by the industry, plus get to keep whatever they sell your first born for as a bonus.

I give this program 8 out of 10. I prefer VideoGet but lost it with a couple of reformats. The couple of down sides to this program is, you can't tell it to dl in superb quality like you can VideoGet and when you try and change the size of the screen, you lose quality. However, what I DO like about it is, you don't have to use a program to dl a video and then another program to convert it. I tried some of those and NONE worked for me. I had no trouble dl this and reg. it on my XP Media Center. Thanks Giveaway!

It's legal as long as you do not download copyrighted material.

But then why is all this copyrighted material continue to stay on YouTube?

#38 I read your response to #28 regarding him "stealing all their royalties from them" in talking about #28 downloading the music of Humble Pie off YouTube. I like you am not being judgmental, angry, or yelling. My tone is gentle and entreating as well. I also am not presenting my comments as a friend and not an enemy.

While I understand your point regarding people stealing the work of other individuals, I have to point out to you some of the reasons people download music off of YouTube. YouTube is a free and open forum and every artist knows that by placing their music or even their videos on YouTube gives them exposure that generally results in increased sales of the various cd's they produce and how much did it cost for these artists to place their video on YouTube? We both know the answer to this question, it cost them absolutely nothing. So, here is the dilemma. While it is much easier to just go out and buy either the CD or a DVD, one ends up paying $15-$20 for the CD and $25-$30 for a DVD. But here it is on a free public open forum and in these situations I don't feel one is stealing anything especially if the artist used a free forum for exposure. In addition, a lot of these artists make a boat load of money and then use the media to basically show off all the great things they have because of the excessive pricing of both CD's and DVD's. When the average individual keeps seeing these artists with their new Jet Aircraft and their 9000 sq ft house and their Mercedes AMG63 people begin to realize that they are the ones enriching these individuals who want to show off their riches but then cry foul when someone downloads their music for free.

So, basically what I am saying is that if you don't want your product obtained for free, don't use free forums to advertise. And price your product so that people like myself don't download it because it is easier to just go and buy the CD. And finally, if you are one of these artist, don't flaunt your wealth because people who don't have everything you have, usually figure you have so much that if they get a free copy, you aren't going to miss it.
