Rubbish
downloaded this as per instructions opened up - clicked on template required - nothing just closed opening window and did not open PowerPoint with the template. Menu in PP does not give option to open one of the included templates.

Have uninstalled space on pc will be better used

Thanks GAOD for wonderful GAOD.

But as it shows in the offer, the result does not display "WITHOUT SKIN". Where as in the example, it display without the SKIN (The border of Flash showing File, View, Contorl, Help along with blue bar of flash player on the top)

I want it to convert ppt TO ecard BUT WITHOUT SKIN. Is it possible? I also request WONDERSHARE to reply.

First of all, what does "free for our visitors as a time-limited offer" mean? It's either totally free or it isn't!

Why do I need to come to GOTD for trial programs? I can just go to download.com for that.

Secondly, after I followed "the instructions carefully to install and activate the software", I still can't get it to launch on an XP system. All it keeps doing is launching Open Office (since I don't have PowerPoint). But it won't launch the main program to convert the Power Point File to a Flash eCard. 0 stars from me.

Installed with no problems on Vista and XP. Works just fine in Impress, you need to import the ppt files (found in the Wondershare directory) from within Impress. Also works well in Powerpoint 2007, although I don't much care for the Quiz addon in the ribbon. Wondershare normally makes great programs but this one looks like a freeware afterthought, I really can't believe they are charging 59.99 for it. And yes, the lack of any other holiday templates is annoying, but other than that, the program works with no problems in both Vista and XP using Impress and Powerpoint.

Hi all!

What can I say?

The forum is quite misleading today because all comments look like very different indeed or even conflicting one with each other and it's not an accident that the USER RATING is fifty fifty till now and nobody has been able to mention any credible FREE ALTERNATIVE similar to this GAOTD.

But according to # 64 the FREE alternative to this is...OPEN OFFICE/STAR OFFICE because it has a built-in ability to make Flash (SWF) files.

So I'm a little bit confused now...LOL!

The program installed, but without Powerpoint installed, it's useless, and I do not have Powerpoint. There was some previous discussion of it working with Open Office -- the program itself doesn't; While you have a choice to open a template directly or open Powerpoint, if you choose to open a template, it opens, then the program tries to open Powerpoint itself to *work.* I DID manage to open the templates with Open Office (simpress) from Wondershare's template directory, but with such a limited supply, it hardly seems worth it to fool with using Open Office; it equates to only getting a few templates, not a viable program.

The good news: it uninstalled easily, totally wiping out the "PPT to eCard" sub-directory under Wondershare. Until Microsoft comes up with a reasonably priced Powerpoint program -- OR -- Wondershare adapts it's programs to Open Office, all their PPT related offerings are (I suspect) going to be met with frustration and disappointment. If there are any 'freeware' animated email program alternatives, I'd sure like to see them posted here.

If you have Impress (OpenOffice/Star Office), you don't need this program. You have a built-in ability to make Flash (SWF) files. All you need to do is go to Export in the file menu, and export as a Macromedia Flash file. I just found this out from searching for it on the Internet. I never knew that OpenOffice had that ability and it is a FREE program. I am using the latest OpenOffice, version 3. I don't know if this ability was available on earlier versions or not.

This program ought to have the ability to convert any PPT file, not just ones made within MS Office. For example, the FREE office suite that I use, OpenOffice.org can save its Impress presentations as PPT files. However, there is no way to open them in this program. Since they are 100% compatible PPT files, I am not sure why there is no way to convert Impress files (saved as PPT), but there doesn't appear to be. This would be much better software if it allowed you to convert any PPT file into an e-card, which is what I thought it did when I downloaded it. Because of this limitation, I will be uninstalling it, because I don't ever plan on buying MS PowerPoint, when Impress will do everything I need, including saving files in MS PowerPoint format.

Useless. You can make cards like that simply in Powepoint with just a little bit more effort and without needing some additional software.
But if you don't have Microsoft Office, this program is useless for you.
Most Wondershare products offered here were good, but this one is not.
Sorry, but I have no use for this, so I'll pass today.

I downloaded PPT to eCard today after (@14) posted it would work with Open Office. I posted a question about how it works in Open Office and have not gotten any response. I scoured their site for any information on Open Office and found nothing.

To eliminate all the bicthin' and moaning about PPT to eCard on GOAD, Id suggest everyone click on the Home page link located right under the user Rating section.

Does the site look professional? Do they have addition software titles? How long have they been in business (do a whois lookup)?

Following that link usually directs you to the page of the software being given away.

I visited the Wondershare software site (which is very professional) and they provide you with tabs....

Overview
Samples
Tutorials
Resources

In the right pane, they provide even more links:

Key Features
Screenshots
System Requirements
FAQS

WonderShare is a huge leader in educational and Video conversion software.

Clicking on the Home button, you'll see that they create multiple tools in these areas:

Presentation Tool
Quiz & Test Authoring
Capture & Recording
Media Creation

In fact GOAD released DVD Ripper Pro a while back. Excellent software!!!!

I explained this in comment #51 and here is the proof that this program does seem to be registered even though the .exe file window claims "Trial Version: 1.0.2": Click here.

The best explanation that I have for this. The developer has changed it's website now, but when this program was first put up today, like within the first 30 mins, if you went to the developer's website, under "Products" it did not show PPT2eCard. It only showed PPT2Flash Standard/Pro. Considering the fact that on the link posted above to this product it says "Convert PPT to eCard - PPT2Flash Standard" I am going on on a limb and saying PPT2eCard was based off PPT2Flash Standard. It seems that it might of been just a quick copy + paste job with a little bit editing. Maybe the code was not debugged before this program was put up. That could explain why in one place it says Trial and other place it shows as registered.

Installed on Vista 32 Home Premium. It integrated fine with Powerpoint. However, my first e-greeting had the "created with trial s/w" flashing in bold at bottom right corner of the swf file so the s/w was not registered correctly. Disappointed with this s/w from Wondershare when their past offerings have been so great.

There are actually 4 templates that come with the software. Click "more" and you will see what I am talking about.

#26 and others
I know that it says "Trial Version: 1.0.2" when you double click on the icon that the installer places on your desktop but if you go to "Register" from the PPT2eCard menu/tab in PowerPoint, you will see that this program is fully registered.

#24
Did you enter your own e-mail information before trying to send an e-mail? You have to do that because it seems the account that is already setup does not work. Go to the "Email Settings" tab on the window that pops up when you click "Send email" from the finish window.

This this program works within PowerPoint, sort of like a plugin, I assumed this program would not work with OpenOffice. But you guys are saying it does work with OO, so I got curious and installed OO. It maybe that since I have PowerPoint installed, it is conflicting and making PPT2eCard ignore OO, but I cannot seem to find out how to use PPT2eCard with OO. Can you explain please?

I put up a full review on this software at GOTDReviews.info a couple of hours ago. Tried posting here but for some reason posting comments are not working for me.

Oh dear, I must have been mistaken, I thought the description said this was a Wondershare program. Those are always so good that I immediately downloaded this one.

Well this doesn't come close to their normal quality. VERY chintzy interface, the need to have an outside (Powerpoint) program, and well, the available templates leave a LOT to be desired.

To begin with, the very chintzy looking interface is immediately confusing as it gives a whole two choices for what to do: Use template or Start Powerpoint. Uh one would think these to be pretty much the same thing, no? Well for me anyways, it is the same thing. I tried each button and both times powerpoint opened using one of their templates.

And hey, templates can be a wonderful thing but these mostly just made me a little bit mad. The program description does NOT say that this is specifically and only a -Christmas- thing. No, it clearly speaks of "Holiday cards" or rather "Ecards for the holiday season." Well no, this is about as much stinkin of christmas as sittin on Santas lap in the department store.

Not even a mention of any other holidays of the season. If you don't DO Christmas, well you are just SOL with this program. This in itself makes it pretty useless for many of us. I'd have been happier with this if it did indeed have some nice generic HOLIDAY templates as it advertises. Instead it has some nice generic CHRISTMAS templates.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not even related to the Grinch, its just that not all of us do Christmas in the same way. I'd have very few, if any, people I could ever send things made from any of these templates and to do so would be horribly insulting at best.

Sadly, one of the templates is named "Universal" thus I thought "oh good, theres at least ONE for all to use." Er no, I dunno what on earth they are thinking but their "Universal" tempate is a Christmas template. Maybe they consider it Universal since it has snowflakes and snow men instead of Santa Claus or the baby Jesus on it as it proclaims its wishes for the "joy and peace of this Christmas
Season."

Okay a few other points here - as others have mentioned, this is indeed a trial version. I don't tend to have trouble with installs or activations from GOTD. All went as expected there, stated program was activated and all that - well the GIVEAWAY EDITION anyways. But yes, it states it is a trial version. Now even though it does say it is a trial version on its splash page, when you go into the registration area it does say it is indeed activated/registered to GOTD so it doesn't appear this will be problematic if someone wants to keep and use this program.

I've not gone any further than this so can't yet say if this does well when creating an exe file for the presentation. However, theres not a lot of point to this. Powerpoint ALREADY does this. In other words, they are advertising that their program does this great thing for customers BUT it requires it to ride on top of another program that actually already does this thing. Its like they are assuming people don't know their Powerpoint at all and will thus think it is their card program allowing all these nifty features. THEY ARE POWERPOINT'S FEATURES ALREADY PEOPLE!

From everything I can see, this program simply gives one a new entrance to use to get into Powerpoint and a few extra templates to use once inside the program. This might be fine, even nice, if it had advertised as being "Extra CHRISTMAS templates for your existing Powerpoint program!" But it doesn't. And that is kinda sad.

Wondershare - You might not want to keep your name on this one - Its not up to your usual very good standards!

It offers 4 free templates with the program actually.

#24
You have to enter your own e-mail information before you can send a presentation via e-mail! Click the "E-mail Settings" tab in the window that pops up when you click "Send E-mail" link on the finish window.

#3 and others
You guys are saying this works with OpenOffice. How so? I was curious so I figured that since this program acts like a plugin (sort of) to PowerPoint you would not be able to use this in OpenOffice. But when you guys mentioned that it does work in OpenOffice, I installed OO 3.0 and tried it. So far I cannot seem to find how to make it work. It may be that because I have PowerPoint installed the program is ignoring OO, but can you guys explain how it works with OO?

For anyone interested: This program is pretty simple and straight forward but I posted a full review on this program at GOTDReviews.info anyway.

Downloaded it, instal and activate fine in my XP SP3.
This is a registered version and you can check it out in the PowerPoint PPT2ecard bar under the "about". It contains "registered to Giveaway" and also the "reg No". It should work as the full version with no limitation at all. (pls take note #31).
It offers only 3 templates but you can go to their website and download another 6 free templates. Others, you have to buy. However if you are familiar with PowerPoint and have used it alot you will be able to hunt for more free templates (and I have many free ones collected over the years). The 3 templates offer my Wondershare has got the various fotos, animations and wordings and fonts included. You can make simple changes without having to learn PowerPoint to produce the eCards. Yes, you can do all that with PowerPoint - but it will mean a lot more work and also you cannot convert it to "Flash".
This program, so far, works fine in my PC. While you can do a great deal with PowerPoint for presentation, it is the conversion into "Flash" which can be tailored to self running and played in PC with Flash Player and also in web browsers (with other multimedia, music, video etc, contents added) - that makes this program different and valuable. It is this ability to converted to flash format which you can also email to friends and love ones - that is what this program is about.
I use PowerPoint for presentations and training and this program has now expanded and added the usefullness of my PowerPoint. Thanks GAOTD for this free offer. I will try it out more extensively and I am sure I will enjoy the new features offered. Keep them coming.
I visit your site daily and do not download all the free offers. I believe it is the same with most others. There will be different programs to cater for different people's needs and at least many great programs had been offered and you can't beat the price - free. I truly appreciate the wonderful job all of you are doing.
Thank you again GAOTD and thank you also to WonderShare for yet another good offer.

Best wishes & Warmest regards

To commenter #4 and #6. You have to run the setup.exe file again. This tells you that it is not registered properly on your computer. It is a full copy you are downloading after activation, not an evaluation.

The activation file has to register in three different keys of the registry for this software.

Nice software, always like to see wondershare products offered.

Thanks GOTD

For those who not have PP or simply would prefer a change. You can try this litle program. Simply copy and image and "fade" a picture of yourself or your family into the image. Then email the image to your family or friends.

""
2 Pic allows you to open open two pictures and mix them, using various options. They can be faded into each other, overlayed, mixed with line themes and more. You can also apply several effects, change colors, resize images and more. Additional features include multiple Undo levels (with visuals), text overlays and more. The interface is very basic and needs some getting used to, but if you spend some time with it, you can produce decent results "" (freeware)

Just what the world needs. A converter to send cards to friends... which look exactly like every other virus-laden e-card trap out there.

Never encourage people to use software like this. Send them a .flv file, or a .avi or .mpg. Otherwise the next time they receive a .exe from a friend saying it's a greeting card they'll open it up and get themselves their very own greeting card virus!

Works fine in PowerPoint 2003

For those who don't have PowerPoint installed: there is an applet called Screensaver Converter within it's folder in the Start Menu that allows you to create ShockWave Flash files (.swf) to screensavers. It only appears to need two files to do this:
Screen.exe and WS_ScreenSaver.dll

Personally I don't make powerpoints, just view them (using the MS "view only" program mentioned above). So I have no use for today's offering. Thanks all the same GaOTD.

Wow electronic Christmas cards, let's see you put these across the fire place mantle, or even better stick them around a door frame. I have several programs that create EXE. type greeting cards which I use for birthdays or other occaisions but I'd never use any program to further the demise of Christmas, especially one as over priced and user aggravating as this one. I mean really, how lazy and un-caring have we become? And #17, If you can't understand that 90% of the worlds programs are Microsoft related for a reason (Ease of use) then keep your stock in what ever 3% company that you feel is better.

Wonderful program. It is really great idea to develop such type
of program.
Program create a menu called ‘PPT2eCard’ menu in Microsoft
PowerPoint default menubar.
One negative point is that, by default - program have only 4 templates and each of them related to Christmas, Birthday template should also be there.

Both of the above offer Powerpoint alternatives that should be able to save files that could work with this software.

Anyone hoping to use this software might like to try them out as they both claim to be alternatives to Powerpoint and can save in formats readable by Powerpoint.

Alternatively, to get you over the Xmas period you can D/L a 60day trial of the real thing from Microsoft. Go here.

Does anyone know if this works with OpenOffice? I've checked at the Wondershare website and it does not tell me. So, if you're reading this at Wondershare please take this comment as feedback - a lot of folks use OpenOffice as it's free and does exactly the same as all that expensive Microsoft stuff - you'd do well to make your software compatible.

Yep, I don't have PowerPoint either, what with MS making it expire after 6 months, & no need for it really, so... And I can make my own just as easy or easier, & just as nice. But thanks for the offer anyway! :)
Kudos that it came here in time for the Holidays! :)

Using Vista and running activation and set up as Admin, I still get the trial version indicated when I open the program with Admin privileges. This crap is ALWAYS aggravating when it COULD be so much easier. Anyone taking the quiz for free stuff needs to get through it quickly befor it times out or you get nothing but a Merry Christmas wish!
