#179, there there, you may be able to read but you don’t seem to comprehend simple prejudice when you read it. A “Degree” of education does not convert personal or published opinion into truth, it is still just opinion. Degree’s come in all sorts of flavors, how you use the Degree is down to the type of person you are. The user in question was trying to use their claimed Degree in computer Science to support a prejudicial claim against only one AV vendor when multiple vendors AV products reported hits on the rogue DLL used during the instalation of the program. The reason most claims of AV hits were with AVG on the rogue DLL is pretty simple, it was just that AVG/AVG Free is far more commonly used amongst commenters here than the other available AV engines. The big picture is all around us, just open your eyes and look around and try to comprehend it.

Strange enough to learn that Wondershare p.story downloaded from this site had a virus & my pc got infected with it. Who else to trust??? better watch out guys before downloading any thing from this site in future.

I first contacted Wondershare on the day of the Giveaway due to being unable to install. I have since asked several times (e-mail and just now by “chat” only to be cut off) to ask about purchasing the product. No replies received. They must be very busy as this can be the only reason for them not replying when a prospective customer is offering to pay for one of their products!

#172 @ #176 By you focussing on AVG you nullify your claim of expertese entirely. 56% of antivirus programs used in the VirusTotal macro-scanning service report problems with the DLL in question.
Not just AVG. The programmers in question are the tmd5.dll programmers for doing sloppy programming if all they are doing is a standard windows program install. I would go back to your University/College and check their accreditation if I were you. Your Degree seems suspect to me.

@#175: You obviously have no clue whatsoever about what has been written in CS Journals about AVG. I AM 100% correct on this one. Tou said that what I wrote was opinion because you’re ignorant to all of the knowledge that I have and all of the knowledge I have about AVG in particular. As far as the rest of what you wrote I stopped reading because you’re obviously speaking on a subject that you know nothing about.

@171- Just because you have a degree in Computer Science doens’t make you RIGHT or WRONG. What you stated is YOUR opinion. Don’t bash other people over the head because of their choices. Last I looked the internet is a democracy and there is no Emperor in charge. Same goes for the person who works in a computer shop.. just because you work in one doesn’t make you right or wrong either. I know one guy who works in a computer shop.. he has a lot of knowledge.. doesn’t mean I’ll fall at his knees and hang onto his every word. Ditto for any big ego’ed Comp Sci degreed people… I make my own decisions thankyou.

Was Fun.. not.. trying to wade through the commnets full of Antivirus pontificating which had no place on this thread to even see anything about the software itself…

McAfee Anti Virus found a Trojan in one of the dll files and deleted the file. I was unable to install the application. BIG tumbs DOWN!

#44: I have a degree in computer science. I KNOW that AVG is garbage. I know that you are wrong. Anyone can work in a computer shop, it is not rocket science to slap hardware together and to install software but try engineering software of complex nature that CANNOT fail or people will die-that’s what I do. I say AVG is absolute garbage and I KNOW that you’re wrong.
