This program is NOT designed to work under Win7 64-Bit. (Per Wondershare Tech) They indicate that a 64-Bit version will be out soon.

My experience with the 64-Bit is that the program stops working when trying to convert to a spreadsheet and only the text but not the images appear when converting to word.

Again and again, I don't understand most of the problems some people encounter with GAOTD and, especially with Wondershare, (except as I said in my previous comment about being administrator of your machine). A few hours after installing and testing on my desktop, I tried the install on my laptop under Win7 (in case I might have to reinstall this damned Vista for the 5th time and loose my GAOTDs!). Again, everything went on flawlessly and, for the fun (got that registration already ;-), I tried to get it again through my rarely used Hotmail account: it was there in a matter of seconds!...

As for the problems encountered with Norton, they do seem very real, but I am quite sure the culprit is Norton itself. The free alternatives are good enough: I used Avira for a long time - it's still on a very old XP PC - and for the time being, Ashampoo Anti-Malware & Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro, two giveaways - and never had any virus. So my advice is: just get rid of it:

1) Because of all the problems mentioned in these comments...
2) Because it's a terrible memory hog and a burden on the OS
3) Because it's very badly interwoven with Vista (at least: I immediately removed it from my new Win7)). Do a "simple" uninstall and you'll find close to 1000 leftovers in the registry (RegScanner on "Norton" and "Symantec"). Revo in "Advanced Mode" would still ignore between 5 and 700 entries. The worse part is that if you try to remove them (RegScanner again), your PC will refuse to start altogether and can only be rescued through the Recovery Manager at startup (happened twice to me since, after reinstalling Vista, I would Trust Norton for the "free" months and the uninstall it!). Last time (and on Win7) I used Norton's own uninstall tool, then very carefully removed those entries I was quite sure about (still a risky business, isn't it?) and removed a few leftover files and folders scattered over my system. Believe me, all this made me a Norton basher (I so loved his "Commander" and books in those days |-(

Jacqueline, You asked -

You know what app I would like to see you share? Don’t know if it exists or not. I would love an app that lets me save webpages as a pdf file.

If you install a program like DoPDF (free), you can 'print' anything as a PDF file.
It does not actually print, it just saves it to your hard drive, as a PDF file.

The install was somewhat messy, but I didn't notice anything harmful. I won't give you meaningless counts, most of the registry entries are Wondershare's, not the VC++ 2005 runtime installation. It runs Wondershare's updater, which is set to run as administrator and for which I blocked Internet access. PDF Converter was set to run as administrator on firstrun, but not subsequently (on an administrator account). Those having registration troubles can try launching with right-click, Run as Administrator on Vista+. The firstrun changes a bunch of its own registry entries to use the horrid short filenames (why does anyone even have code to do that?), I may change them back. It adds to a fairly large log file, even if you do nothing. I converted their own sample files to HTML, the conversion was only fair when viewed with both IE9 and Firefox, with very obvious but relatively minor problems.

I have to uninstall this while I cannot get it work with normal account. I considered to use discount offer to PRO, but I think it requires administration account to work, so no deal :(

Please, make it work with normal user account!

Installed & registered fine in Win 7 64bit. I tried one 45 page PDF, m ostly text with some images & converted it to a Word document. It's largely okay - but for some reason every 'd' came out as a capital 'D'. Most annoying anD I woulDn't spenD money on it - it isn't easy to eDit out the unexpecteD capitalisation!

I have been through the registration process three times. Result: no passcode on the spot and no passcode via email.

What is going on?

It is difficult to understand how a company can put up software on the site and then not pay any attention to this kind of problem, which is being experienced by a substantial number of people, as shown in the comments.

@Joanna
I am having an issue with installing this. When I click on the setup file it ells me it can’t do it because the file is being used by another program. I don’t know how this could be as nothing else is running. I even restarted my computer to try and fix this. I have Windows Vista if that helps. Anyone have any ideas??

Close the readme.txt file. For some bizarre reason, Vista complains about the readme being open when you run setup.

Installed fine on Windows 7, 32-bit. Every file I try to convert to Word (even pdf files I make myself with very little formatting) crash the program at 90%. Convert fine to epub, but then I need to try to convert the epub file. Will open a support ticket and see if it can be fixed before uninstalling.

Downloaded and installed fine, I did have to wait a few minutes for the code (and I use Hotmail) but did receive it. Does seem to work but will not do PDF files that have a passwords which I was hoping for. other than that it seems to work. I was surprised to see that it took a 135 pg PDF and when converting it to epub it was now 321 pg but just doing a random check of the pages they were all correct. So Thanks GOTD and Wondershare!!!

Well worth it for a 22 page PDF to HTML conversion it just did for me! Excellent, very minor formatting problems in a few places, easily corrected in my HTML editor.

Handled photos VERY well including correctly superimposing a text caption over the final result in the HTML file.

The HTML index.htm output file contained a root index on the left side of the browser with hyperlinks to each of the 22 pages - nice touch!

I did not try other conversions as PDF and HTML are usually the endpoints for what I do. But, the HTML I have could be easily imported into a modern word processor such as Open Office. Obviously, if my HTML went off nearly perfectly, then the TXT conversion should work well too.

As far as receiving the license code, it was received within a few seconds at my disposable email address. A colleague of mine received the identical license code as I did, apparently it's all the same.

This is above average for a PDF converter, but $60 is too high. $30 would be more in line and salable to my clients, and YES, pricing feedback does matter to vendors because some of us DO refer clients to companies that post on Giveaway of the Day (so to a few out there... PLEASE stop saying this is "free software!").

Thanks Wondershare and GOTD.

Via Firefox and after allowing NoScript for Wondershare.com, I got another popup box requesting my email address. After entering it in this second popup box, I received the registration number immediately at my Yahoo! mailbox. For me, the initial problem was not allowing NoScript.

This product immediately converted my file and it's 100% correct. A huge time-saver. Much appreciated!! Thanks, Wondershare and GAOTD!!

I have no difficulty getting the program registered. But the output for epub is pretty disappointing. For the 2 PDFs I tested, the program removed all formatting and the epub output has no formatting whatsoever - what I got after conversion was an epub with just a single and humongous paragraph of text.

If you truly want the best free pdf creator/converter, then use Pdf Creator.

For the best pdf creator/converter/editor and much more, use Adobe Acrobat X - definitely not free - but worthwhile in every and all aspects - word of experience.

Hurray! One last final effort (see #192) to register did actually work! Nothing on my end has changed (firewalls, email addresses, etc.), but I tried resubmitting and it came through right away. There won't be time now to try it today and provide feedback about the program itself, but maybe for those who have had failed attempts to register, one last go will do the trick?

Installed easily on Win7 64, no registration problem. Choked once converting a very large file - not sure why. But on other tests was flawless. Converted a table and kept it intact in Word, and perfectly rendered a 770 page book from PDF to Word, keeping all formatting correct including foreign words, lists, and gnarly layout. I'm trying out the discounted "conversion pro" and expect to purchase after a few tests. I've tried other converters - this is by far the best. Highly recommend it. That said, I don't think I'd pay $59 for the software as my use of it will be infrequent. I would pay $20. Thanks Wondershare and GOTD.

Six hours and two email addresses later, I still have not received the registration code. I'm concerned the giveaway is going to expire before I can successfully register. I really like Wondershare products, so it will be a big disappointment if I can't snag this one. I sure hope Wondershare has a smoother registration procedure for paid products their fans are going to defect...

My first attempt at receiving a reg code didn't work. I used an email for one of my sites that gets automatically forwarded to my gmail acct. No reg code email - not even in the spam folder. So after 15 minutes of looking, I went back and entered a gmail acct. Got the reg code email almost immediately as it was in my emailbox when I opened that tab. Have registered, but no time to check out the program today since I'm working on other projects. Thanks to all who provided their test notes, though, much appreciated.

Downloaded and installed flawlessly in seconds.

I have tried several programs like this and have always been disappointed ~ to very disappointed.

Using Wondershare I have just converted three pdf documents to MS Word and I'm well impressed
Pictures and Text converted beautifully. Excess waffle in the pdf can then be deleted, and text altered to suit.my needs.
e.g. a 30 page pdf manual can be converted to 4 or 5 pages of useful instructions.
Going to try it further tomorrow. If it continues to perform to this standard, I might even buy it

Simple intuitive interface

To those complaining about price...install and TRY it. You will then find you can buy it for $14.95
That's only £9.48 UK

I downloaded a GAOTD version and it works well on my Vista Home premium. After checking out the Pro version I decided to purchase it for the special GAOTD price. The OCR feature works great. I haven't checked all languages out yet but it recognised perfectly Polish characters on the page with many different fonts and fonts' sizes.
There is one thing I would like to see to be added to the Pro version:
Wondershare PDF Converter Pro doesn't have a “rotate” tool. OCR won't work if the scan was done in a landscape layout (like two A5 pages scanned together on A4 format). To make OCR working the scanned image must be rotated before converting it to PDF .

Problem appears to be in the setup.exe wrapper for this product. I've installed many GOTD offerings without issue, but this one won't fly.....Let's make it work GOTD!!! thanks!!!

some of the comments about loss of formatting obviously stem from not setting the option TO KEEP FORMATTING. Once you select a target format to convert to the options button is then available to you.

If the PDF you start with was text thats what you get editable text in Excel or Word. If it was pictures ....

Thanks GOTD and WONDERSHARE for another excellent offering.

When i read that it has a nagscreen with an ad in it i didn't download it. If a give away can't be as clean as a fully paid version then it is nothing to have, then it is the same as adware !

Another thing i think is wrong with these giveaway's are that they can only be installed once. If the manufacturer had been kind the giveaway should be possible to install as many times as You want, but without any possibility to upgrade to any later version. What if the computer need a re-install some day...all Windows os:es have to sooner or later...

I wonder how many that check out the giveaway and then download a cracked version instead (without nags), that can be installed on unlimited number of computers and unlimited times ? Maybe something for coming giveaway manufacturers to think about !

#1 and #28
I had the same problem as #28 and others with registration key emailed to me would not work; kept responding to me that my email and key was INVALID. So short answer: The issue was that I did not SAVE the file when I downloaded it, I OPENED it!.
Long Answer/Please note the directions say "Installation and Registration 1. "Unzip" the package you’ve downloaded and install the software"; GOTD PLEASE CORRECT THIS IN FUTURE DIRECTIONS. Make this process easier for the 1st timers and for the other part of the population that do not download from this site as often as the power users that know or get the 50/50 choice option right. Since there are two ways that Explorer asks the USER to download the directions can easily state click on "SAVE" file don't "OPEN", then unzip... Anyway I did not uninstall the first "OPEN" install I just went back to GOTD site and clicked on "Download Wondershare PDF Converter now" and then clicked "SAVE" not "OPEN" to a new location unzipped file and went through the same exact processes to get the email with registration. By the way both times I requested the Wondershare registration the website did not return on the website a registration key code I got the registration in an email.
For those argumentative people I, notice the I, in my past 20+ years in getting software as a download by selecting "open" or "save" haven't run in to issues zipping or not, so I guess that I must have been on the 50/50 side that always selected correctly.
Wondershare was nice enough to send an additional email when I registered the first time with a Support registration number which I immediately used asking them why my registration would not work. Disappointing to think that Wondershare's support crew got emails from people for this problem what a fun day they must be having and every other time Wondershare does a free giveaway.

Thank you GOTD and Wondershare for this, I will probably send the money soon to get the unlock password protected PDF's.
