Downloaded and installed no problem. Reg. was very easy. Started program. 16 hours later I was able to post this note. With out doing anything but starting the program, I found my entire system corrupted by this. I am normally very computer savvy, but the damage that this did was un-real. It destroyed my firewall, rendered my AV useless, utterly obliterated both my explorer and firefox, not to mention what it did to java and direct X. It took me 16 hours to get to the point where I could actually connect to the net and check e-mails. (did I mention that it fried outlook) I didn't run any of the moduals in the program. This all came about simply by STARTING the program. The only way I could recommend this is if you told me that you wanted a total re-install of your boot drive.

Installed on XP SP3. All went well. Did a scan, found a few things which I wanted to keep, so I did not select them. Found 32 (!) Windows updates/security patches which it said needed to be fixed.

Now, I have been having problems installing 7 updates, just will not install. I thought maybe this would do the trick. It downloaded and installed all patches, etc without problems. Strangely, after it was all done, Auto Update is still offering the same 7 updates, which still will not install. So it did not do much at all, so far as I can see. My PC is still running well, with no apparent problems. So, what does this program actually DO?

Any app associated with sites flagged by WOT as potentially dangerous or harmful...too big a thumbs down to even risk it

Agree with #19
I have used quite a few programs of this brand, and I've never met phishing or something when using them. I don't know why they say it's a phishing site. WOT sometimes works, but sometimes may mislead people.

I lost many programs due to this piece of work. I read the warnings, and the scan just said I needed to update some XP files. When I updated those and re-started, many programs were gone. I made a system restore point for extra security and even that didnt bring them back!! My advice, dont take the chance on this bogus program. Its not worth killing your system to try it. Boo GAOTD for bringing us this one.

@radar:

You're rating it based on the number of clicks? (-_-;)

If everyone did that, no company would be willing to do the Giveaway of the Day. Either that, or the companies would make software with zero clicks. It would automatically start up and run without your consent.

Either way, it's better to rate the software based on how good it is.

@ Mike Vaughan. I can't help thinking, you're telling a joke. Are you serious, when you recommend I0bit security 360 as safe protection ? Okay, it's off topic, but at least use another firewall than Windows and it's easy to find a regular AV program. But off course if you don't surf at the internet, I'm sure, you are well protected. Just be aware off, what ends up in yor mail-box :)

I think the developer/s should be congratulated . Not very often do you get a program you can use out of the box .This is one of the best programs offered via GOTD. It found security vulnerabilities in Microsoft that their updates had not fixed . It downloads these missing updates at the touch of a button and installs them .

You can always tell good software when it is so easy to use and figure out without needing to delve into a helpfile. This counts among them is a good program.

As far as start up programs and BHOs it finds , it only removes them if you tick each ones box. If you are not sure what the line is or obvious what it is with a family name in the line like AVG , then leave it alone.

Like all good progs , they should be used in conjunction with others.

This installed no problem, and says can you register the key code up to the 21st . Although it has a restore function, don't be an idiot and remove things without reading what you are removing first. If in doubt leave it alone or google the offending line it found.
