BE AWARE. The version you get is not the version described on their website. The functions and tutorial apply to a previous version that had many more functions. I purchased the DVD version only to find the software you buy is not the same described on their website.

Very deceptive!!!!

On my desktop computer, running Windows XP SP2, Flash Slideshow Builder gave me an error as it was opening. It was telling me that my DVD/CD drive didn't have a disc. Fortunately, I was able to click Continue and the application still opened up.

Then, as I was working through the steps to create my show and clicked on Decorate, a little window popped up indicating that it had started to publish my slide show. I immediately got another error about how it failed on drawing an image. After clicking that closed, I got the same error again, and again... Apparently, it was giving me the error for every photo in the show. Finally, it gave me an Access violation error.

I had to use Windows Task Manager to get Flash Slideshow Builder to close.

On my notebook computer, running Windows XP MCE 2002 SP2, I was able to create a slide show and I found that Vostromo (83) is correct. The default Filename location for Publish as SWF says Porgram files and oddly selected my d: drive (which I never save anything on) as the location instead of my c: drive.

After restarting my desktop computer, I didn't get the error messages.

One nice feature that Wondershare might consider is a volume slider in addition to the on/off button.

I had downloaded the Wondershare Flash slideshow builder programme of 11th July. But when trying to activate it I kept on getting a message that either server is busy or blockage by firewall. I even set my firewall to off but could not activate my program.

Can anyone help me in getting the email and registration no to be inputted so as to make the programme work after the trial period.

Thks in advance for any help rendered.

@196, Anya...

clicking on "How to Use Flash Slideshow Builder" should bring up the help file...

did you try looking in the Wondershare file with Windows Explorer (in my case C:\Program Files\Wondershare\Flash Slideshow Builder)?...

Start>AllPrograms>Accessories>Windows Explorer is how to access Windows Explorer...

the help file should be in there, with a big yellow question mark as an icon...

"User Guide.chm" is the help file you are looking for...

you can click on it from there to open, or send a shortcut to your desktop, or copy it to your documents.........you can also right click the "How to Use Flash Slideshow Builder" link, click Properties, & point the Target towards that file...

if the file is missing you'll have to look at the online Wondershare help...

hope that helps...if not, please try the forums...lots of knowledgeable people there...

I don't have VISTA, I have XP... I click on 'Wondershare', then on 'How to use Flash Slidshow Builder', a window comes up saying 'Windows is searching for UserGuide.chm'... the flashlight moves around for awhile searching, then after a couple minutes it quits. I've tried clicking on each of the tabs. They are: Flash Slideshow Builder; Flash Slideshow Builder on the Web; How to Use Flash Slideshow Builder; Order Flash Slideshow Builder; & Uninstall Flash Slideshow Builder. What else can I do? Thanks for any help...

I was stupid. I was making a slideshow and if I wanted to burn it into a dvd I could buy it. And I could for the price 29.95$.. I used my visa-card... AND I never got an email from them EVEN when it was sayin' Send to you succesfull... I never going to use my card in this web-site. Now I'm thinking what is going to happen with my account?

The Good:
After installing this, and I do mean immediately after, I sat there mesmerized by it for the next HOUR. It is so easy to use and yet has so many advanced features and abilities. I think I've not even begun to explore all this program can do! I am actually quite impressed (and well, that kinda takes a lot! LOL!). What an amazing piece of software! At THREE minutes til the end of this giveaway, I was downloading and installing a copy on my laptop!

The Bad:
Now, for all that, I have found one glitchy/not so happy thing with this program:When adding photos with the "film strip" blank along the bottom, you HAVE to click on the little arrows at the end of scroll bar. You cannot move by clicking anywhere else on the scroll bar. Now being a middle of the scroll bar kind of person, I've found this mildly annoying and hard to get used to.

The Potentially Ugly:
There is apparently still an available option to register even though it claims to have been activated properly and all that. It also states this is the "Giveaway" version so I wonder if we actually got the "full" version or not.

Overall though, unless it suddenly deactivates or expires or something, I am so far very pleased with this software. I can see this being very useful and also helpful in inspiring creativity.

No problems downloading & installing. Seems to work fine on my machine running 32 bit Vista Ultimate.

I do have a question though. Since I have the registration info would I be able to reload this after today if need be?

I love this program it is super easy to use. I was able to create a screen saver in a matter of minutes. It has templates you can use or not, you can import you own music or use their sounds. It even gives you a link that takes you to instructions on how to insert a SWF file.

Very user friendly & great for everyone, but especially beginners.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

Thanks GOTD & Wondershare.

I went to the page you posted and it seems that this Giveaway version doesn't have the Template Customize Tab as posted in the directions on that page. It would have been nice little touch to be able to design your own themes for your templates.

Thanks to everyone who figured out and explained how to get it going! It really helped to read the comments and know what to look for. I always read the comments first, but this program has a twist to the processes I'm used to here.

Installed as instructed, clicked the key icon, registration showed to GAOTD and the number already there.

I've a fair amount of computer experience, 20+ years, but NO understanding of Flash. I was wondering just yesterday how to use it as I watched some downloaded flash vid. This will REALLY help me get into it a bit without overwhelming me.

GAOTD team, you are terrific--and the users who help us decide and understand if and how to use the app- I couldn't appreciate you more.
Now I'm gonna go play more with the Flash!

Find the file you downloaded. Find the Activate file and right click the word "application" found under TYPE column and select run as administrator. This worked for me even after I had run the setup file. Open the program and click on the gold key at the top right of program. The registration code automatically will be filled in. Hope this helps. I haven't tried the program yet but my dad loves the Wondershare programs.

Activation and Installation on XP Home was smooth as silk. Followed readme.txt and all went well.

Ran a quick test of a series of images and without reading any instructions and was able to follow the intuative interface (very similar to other Video Editors such as Nero Vision and Adobe Premier Elements. The resulting output was quite impressive. My wife was aksing me to "install AOL so she can send pictures easily"... rather than add that nightmare to my on-call support list I've added this app to her PC. I think she (and I) be quite pleased!

I'll take a more in-depth look over the next few days and will add comments if I come up with any issues or suggestions. Many thanks to Giveaway of the Day (I may not like all the offerings but am thankful for the opportunity to try and keep many!) as well as to Wondershare.

Same thing happened with the previous Wondershare product - screen recorder - and I got no help from them. I'm just glad I didn't pay for it. Seems Wondershare & our computer aren't compatible.

Awesome product. I am a low end user so to have a software such as this, I can for the first time ever create an exe file flash slideshow to send to friends and family. My only suggestion would be for it to have more templates but this is the best thing I have ever grabbed from GAOD, Cheers

PS I too had probs installing on Vista till I read the boards here. Make sure you right click the activate.exe file and choose run as administrator

Downloaded and installed smoothly on WinXP2. Activate first
before running setup.exe After launching the programme, when
I clicked on the registration (key icon), it seems to be already
registered, although it is greyed out.

Many thanks to GAOTD and Wondershare for making this latest version
free for today! I'm gonna have so much fun trying it out. From what
I see, there are many templates and other options to choose from.
Offers so many creative ideas.

#9 (answer to #9 question)

"Using this for a CD slide show"

Yes, 2 ways off the top of my head.

1. Publish to EXE
--- theres a button that says that in the publish screen.

2. Publish to HTML
--- ie more than one file
--- Put all files on CD

In both cases you can use AUTORUN script to have the CD automatically open the slide show.
--- How? look it up in Google

By the way - INFORMATION
Picasa2 is another solution for image management + slide-show creation + online photo storage + heaps more :D

The beautiful thing about this app, is that it covers all you need in a flash slide show with many very handy extras.

Wondershare really do make good applications.

I guess this is alright for many. I do not like the way it does what it does. It is too simple and therefore becomes just like all the others that seem to be poping up here and there.
Windows movie maker can make better slide shows than this can. Yes it is a little more involved but at least it is you and not what someone else thinks you want. Thumbs down for this one again. Wondershare programs mostly are simple versions of much better programs.

I was initially very impressed with this piece of software, but after implementing onto my site I change my mind. I added 33 images into the file, which made the swf 8mb, the original pictures were less than 3mb total. I thought I might be able to reduce the quality a bit, but it introduced too many artifacts for my liking - considering my images were already compressed and ready to use.

Also, you are not given any sort of pre-loading of images control, I would prefer to have one image display really quickly and watch at the other images load, than to have a loading bar take a few min to finally get through the loading stage.

Very limited control over colours of buttons and extra bits.

That said, it is a great program for bloggers and myspacers.

I've been in the graphics design business for years and my wife has never been interested in producing anything herself. I downloaded this wonderful program...turned it over to her and she's already produced three projects from digital pics she's made. She's buying the DVD maker...and guess what? Apparently I'm no longer the main graphics person in the household.

It's WONDERFUL, and a wonder to share..which means...WONDERSHARE! We're sold. If you miss this...........well.....you're not realizing the wonderful partnership of GOTD and partners like Wondershare.

Doesn't do much good if I can't register it. Wish it would seems like a worthwhile program.

I was among the many who could not register easily on Vista. The right-click, "run as administrator" option truly is the answer for those having trouble.

That being said, I'm not thrilled by a program that requires that I give it greater rights than I normally use just to install. It could be doing nearly anything once those rights are granted. I'm suspicious of something that requires that level of freedom just to install.

Hey, it downloaded and activated perfectly, just like it is supposed to do.

Wonder how that happened?

Maybe it's because I don't have Vista, but if I did, I would read the instructions that have been POSTED 1000 TIMES on how to make it work, instead of crying "WAH, WAH, WAH, It doesn't work for me".

Maybe it's because I don't have a 97 inch monitor and expect every programmer to cater to my bizarre excess.

Maybe it's because I don't freakishly put my toolbar on the side of my screen and have the taskbar running diagonally through the middle of my screen and somehow expect everything to be OK.

I swear, some of you people have no business using a computer.

Others need to take the pimped-out computer they are working on, unplug it, get two sticks of dynamite, put said dynamite under computer out in a field, light fuse, get away.

Now PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GET A REGULAR COMPUTER!!!!!

I think this a great program. I tried to create a slideshow on power point and wasn't sure exactly how. This did what I wanted and was very easy to use. It ran a little slow when I tried to publish it, but I'm not sure that that wasn't my computer rather than the programing. I would definately tell anyone looking for this kind of software what a great product I think this is. Thank you GAOTD and also to the makers of Wondershare.
