[63] I had the same problem back in 2010 when trying to download their program, twice, the initial time (Oct 31 2010) and the rerun (Nov 13 2010). I missed this offering, which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing...

Well my question is this: why did I get this last time in Sept., made a comment for improvement, WON the free download and FREE upgrades (lifetime), received an email Sept.10 with new lic., reformatted my HD in Jan, tried to get it back but could find it no where on the site? And now TODAY I download it and attempt to use my LIFETIME lic. code and it won't work? So now I am using the code I got today as I don't have anywhere to download the version I WON in Sept. Hmmm....

Am i doing something wrong?
I have this program activated on my computer, and it is telling me that it will only copy the first 5 minutes of a DVD for a sampling. And if I want to copy a whole thing I will have to buy the full version for the $35!

Thanks to Digiarty for making this available, but I will stick with Tipard. They have an option that creates a super-high quality back-up copy. Digiarty's best quality while acceptable, is still visibly below that.

To be fair, the Digiarty high-quality copy runs about 1/2 the file size. So if space is a prime concern, Digiarty may be the way to go for you.

@mort and others with "no way to get a registration code either by email or directly from the homepage", you need to turn off your pop-up blocker on the registration page. The registration page link is in the readme.txt.

Re: everyone- update check
Everyone, this is just my experience but I have not seen it try to connect one time since using it. I use ZoneAlarm (software-based firewall) and I have it set up to ask with a pop-up window any time an unauthorized program has asked for Internet permission. I also see no option to disable update checks but haven't seen an update check attempt yet either. Maybe it's manual only in this release? Of course, I do have to admit I haven't actually ripped a DVD yet; only closed & re-started the program several times and looked through the options... My 2 cents. =)

Ok, tested it out on an avi movie. Did not work. The movie pauses every five seconds which is very annoying. I'd rather just go back to the old way and convert it to an mp4 for my ipod touch. Oh well. It was a nice idea though. I noticed on this that it got over 400 good votes but only 45 replies. Weird.

This software is great. I also just tried the airplay it. For those who couldn't figure it out. You need to look at their forum. It tells you about port forwarding which I forgot. Once I did it it worked. Of course all my stuff is converted. I'm going to try an unconverted one in awhile after I rip it. I just don't know if it'll work away from home and when the computer is turned off. Otherwise I give it a great rating. At least this version is upadated from the last one.

Wow, very easy install. Follow the link in #15's post. Copy the reg # and download from there. I'm gonna install it on all my computers - my friends', my brother's, my mother's, my grandma's, everybody's - just in case something happens to one, I'll still have the ability to run it elsewhere! Haven't tried the streaming piece but this looks very interesting, especially since we have 2 android phones and an android tablet in the house.

I had the same problem with #6. The previously offered version 6.0 turned to trial (and therefore useless) but there wasn't anything to turn automatic updates on or off.

I now downloaded, installed and activated today's version and still can't see any option to turn auto updates on or off. I do have this option with "AirPlayit Server" and turned it off, however, I will have to wait for a month to see if the Ripper becomes crippled again!

The last three times I've tried to install a GAOTD, it can't connect. I get an error "Failed to connect. Try again later." I have PTFB and set it to click the Setup icon, and then to dismiss the error window. I set it to click Setup repeatedly every 5 seconds, and ran it for two hours. That's about 1,400 tries over two hours, and no connection. I know my connection is on, as I'm able to access your site and download.

What is the deal?

Installed giveaway on two laptops today, both windows 7 but one a 32 bit the other 64. Copied the same movie with output to avi. The 64 bit computer made a 1.5 gig file, the 32 bit computer a 709 mg file.
Any reason for that, or any other explanation? Thanks!

@Prof_Q

I confirm the same issue, that also in my case several of previously installed WinX products lost their registration for no apparent reason, after having registered the software correctly on the day of the appearance and never installing any software updates.

That is quite an unpleasant experience. May give it another try, though.

Anyone recommend the BEST format/bitrate/whatever to convert a DVD-movie into, please? My hope is to watch the resulting videos on 15" laptop and 40" tv (the latter when I can afford one :-).

Thanks for your opinion! This wonderfully-functional utility offers so many Formats that my old brain is lost. The GUI is just a little "too big", yes?

Here's a thought concerning that...offer easy font "enlarging" in the Menu, for we with olde eyes. Great day, all!!

I purchased this a few years ago and continue to get upgrades. So, the giveaway doesn't help me today even though it's a great one. WinX DVD Ripper Platinum works very well, and customer service has been responsive when I have questions. My biggest disappointment with WinX DVD Ripper Platinum is that it does not let me rip DVD Titles into separate Chapters. Aiseesoft and Wondershare rippers (offered on GAOTD previoulsy) both have this feature which is particularly useful when converting a concert video to MP3 files by song, instead of as one large MP3. The UI is good, subtitles option easy to use, cropping and trimming useful, flexibility in video quality great compared to other rippers. I default my DVD ripping to this program unless I have a need to rip chapters. Ripping in Safe Mode has also helped get past some scratched DVDs, as well as various copy protections. It helps to use another program such as the free MediaPlayer Classic to determine exactly which Titles you want to rip only, instead of depending on WinX to guess the right one, or getting a bunch of unwanted extras by ripping the entire disc (some Disney discs will try to fill your entire hard drive with duplicates if you're not careful!). I did not like the Air PlayIt last time it was offered, and will not try it again.

What I saying is that people (such as #1, and those who thumbed up his post) complain about this program as if it is WinX DVDCopy. It is not, this soft is (primarily at least) a ripper. I use WinX DvdRipper exactly for that: ripping an dvd to Avi (or whatever format you prefer).
I don't know about the manual. If needed I burn the Avi to dvd using FlickDvd, which has never failed me.

#17 - Why on earth would a company leave the automatic update unchecked to cripple the software once it updates? Is this an oversight on WinXDVD's part or could it be intentional?

That pretty much puts everyone's install in jeopardy.

Not a smart move by them.

I've installed it on my computer, and i think it would be better if I can navigate through DVD's and add the deleted scenes to the video being copied; so that when i played the video it would have the deleted scenes included, but no matter it's very convenient for users as well as another professional dvd ripper from www.mac-videoconverter.com However, the later is available for Mac users. I've been searching for decent dvd ripper and today i got a free one. Thx GOTD for sharing!

I am amazed that people confuse this program with WinX DVDcopy and start whining about it. Please read, if you can. This a Ripper, not a DVDcopier. I don't use WinX DvdCopy for the very reason people complain about it. WinX DvdRipper on the other hand, is a terrific program, and all I need for copying DVDs to my HD (and/or burning to DVD, using other software).

DVD Rip Plat and Air Playit Server BOTH ticked by default for me under "full installation" No probs installing. Basic check shows morks ok , as expected with Digiarty products. No time to fullt test yet.

Ref your post #9 file size probably depends on what wrapper is used by GOTD , Farcebook etc, around the main software,no big deal for different file sizes.

HOORAY!! My favorite DVD ripper offered for free once again. I have had to reload both my laptop and my desktop systems and lost this but knew it would be coming back around soon.

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum
- Simple, easy to navigate interface
- No preview window to slow down the ripping process
- There are only a couple of DVDs I own that it has ever had a problem with

If you have any sort of portable device that you watch movies on, you need this software.

As usual with WinX products there was no problem installing, registering, or running the program.

In a simple test with an unprotected DVD and running on a four core machine I was able to rip at frame rates of between six and two times the frame rate of the DVD.
As a matter of interest the “Output Image Setting” default is best changed to “Original Size And Keep Aspect Ratio” for best conversion rates in my experience.

I cannot comment on Air Playit Server as I did not install it, however the ripper is well worth keeping.

otherwise when it tries to update it will go to crippleware if it updated.
