On 3/16/12 I downloaded your GOTD DVD Ripper Platinum Streamer 6.8.2 which included Air Playit. On 1/5/13 I downloaded your GOTD WinX DVD Ripper Platinum 7.0.0. I thought the newer version would cover the features of the earlier version, so I uninstalled the 6.8.2 version. However, I got the error message "Air Playit - Streaming Audio Video Anywhere Load configuration failed" every time I start my computer. Very annoying! How should I get rid of this message? I suppose there must be something that did not completely uninstall. Many thanks if you could guild me how to clean up and resolve this!

I was very disappointed. Was looking forward to using this.

The register code I was given, does not work.
It tells be that it was an invalid code.
I tried all night to get this to work to no avail. Why can't a company make this process foolproof.
Now it is too late because the offering is over.
It is a real shame.

Program bails on me for anything I try to convert.
When I run it again, it tells me it detected an
abnormal end in the previous conversion. The end
always says Sorry, this file format is not recognized/supported
If this file is an AVI, ASF or MPEG stream, please contact the author!
Cannot open demuxer.

I have been using WinX DVD Ripper for about a year. Verdict: It works! Got it as part of a bundle promotion with EaseusToDo Backup, so it was full version but no free upgrade. Thank you GAOTD team and Digiarty for chance to upgrade to latest version.
As suggested by several others, I used the Digiarty link in Comment #1 above. Copied the Licence code given at Digiarty link and did the software down load from that link. It installed without difficulty updating the existing copy on my computer (Dell Inspiron laptop, i3 cpu, win7HomePrem,8GB Ram).

Haven't had a chance to check out the problem that David H [#25 above] talks about with this upgrade, but if I do I will reinstall the previous version since it was a full version with install license key and no time limit on installation [only limit was how long to down load the setup install zip file.] I keep all my software downloads (free or paid)on an external Harddrive and on a DVD or CD, so it should be fairly easy to reinstall previous working version if necessary.
This GAOTD difinitely worth giving a try even if you have other similar programs.

I have used this before, from previous giveaways. In this version, “DVD Backup -> Clone DVD to ISO image” has a strange interface. It asks you to select the titles to rip, even though it is cloning the whole disk. Previous versions of the program did not have that confusing step. The new version did copy the entire disk, even though only one title was selected.

It did not select the correct title on a Disney DVD (Up) – it chose one of the scrambled (fake) titles. Ripping worked fine when I selected the correct title.

It flatout states that it is not allowed to be updated because they are giving it away. What do people want for free. When they upgrade they offer it again, so really you do get updates as long as you keep checking in to GAOTD. Thanks so much and hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year.

You need to update daily, so when they improve the profile option for your output you can read what it says. Does it clone a DVD for a backup or just as an ISO file?

downloaded zip file 34,631,817 and extracted all to same folder.
ran setup.exe: "The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain anew copy of the program."
deleted zip, gcd, exe, txt.
downloaded zip file again and repeated what was done before.
got same result!!!
are the setup files really corrupted?? or what?

I've been having a laugh with a good number of these comments. People: Don't read so much into the text that is presented. Use your common sense and educated yourself in the whole principle of the GOTD Project. That is to say: GOTD is a venue where software developers get to advertising or introduce their software free to users of this site for one day only. After that the offer expires. However, the software will continue to function as a full version (usually) indefinitely.

This is a one time license. So you are not permitted to update the software, and this restriction is either coded into the software you download or attached to the registration you are given. End of story.

No one is trying to pull the wool over your eyes... no one is trying to cheat you. It is a rather nice arangement, don't you think?

But there is NO free ride. The version posted on this web site is the same as the version offered from Digiarty's web site referred to in #1 .... difference in size is only the wrapper that GOTD package all software in to limit the time you can install it for free. The version on the developer's web site is precisely this same version and CANNOT be updated.

If you were to look at the actual trial version of this software, you would find that although it CAN be updated, the GOTD registration will not work with the official trial version ..... what do you expect?

--- end of rant ---

TURNING TO THE SOFTWARE I have run several movies and shorter videos through this version of WINX DVD Ripper Platinum 7.0 and find that every single rip was 1) fast, and 2) flawless ...

I usually have issues in creating AVI files in that the video and audio fail to synch. Two of my commercial DVDs were converted to AVI in perfect synch, and quite honestly (even being ultra-critical) I could not see any appreciable difference in quality.

Further, I ripped shorter videos to iPAD and Android. Not only were the rips fast (10 minutes for 1 hour video even with my mediocre video card) but the output was perfect for the recipient hardware as the default parameters were set up.

MY CONCLUSION: If you are worried about not keeping up-to-date with future releases of WINX DVD Ripper, go ahead and buy it. I don't think that you will find anything else out there that is much better than this.

My congratulations to Digiarty Software for this fine release and many thanks to GOTD for hosting this promotion.

This is one of those pieces of software, that when it comes along, you just have to grab. I have had nothing but good experiences with Digiarty products in the past; their 'WinX DVD Copy Pro' has been my favourite DVD backup tool since I downloaded it from here.

I recently got a new PC, and have been waiting for 'WinX DVD Copy Pro'to be run here again just so I could get it.

Now that this product incorporates my favourite feature from 'WinX DVD Copy Pro' - 'Copy DVD full title/main content to MPEG2 file within 5 minutes.' - I may have found a new favourite.

This feature outputs a high-quality MPEG2 file that, though it is a little large, suits me perfectly. I chuck it on a USB, and plug into my LG TV. From there I can bring up a menu and select from the full range of audio and subtitle tracks.

The ONE negative I found with this feature on 'WinX DVD Copy Pro' is that you couldn't deselect any of the audio or subtitle tracks - you HAD to have them all. (This probably accounts for the large file size)
Also, Windows Media Player didn't recognise that there were more than one subtitile/audio track, so I had to download and watch through UMPlayer (http://www.umplayer.com/) when watching on my PC.

Hope the aforementioned feature is as good - or better - in this program.

Huge thanks to GAOTD and Digiarty.

This is a bust. Downloaded, installed and activated with licence key all with no problems. However, I tried many times but can't get it to download more than the first 14 minutes of a 37 minute video. Tried many settings and output formats to no avail. Also tried deleting and reinstalling the software as well as rebooting. Nothing helped.

Has anyone else tried to use this application for a video longer than 14 minutes with success?

Am I missing something, the product description picture has arrows going back and forth from the DVD and hard drive, however I do not see any options for burning movies files to dvd.

I am not knocking it, but I am just saying that that would be a natural feature to have, to go both ways so to speak. 60 dollars for such a one trick pony is a bit much, but I it has been around forever so I guess people do appreciate it. Must be all the work that goes into breaking the various encryptions.

I went to the site as reflected in #1. I punched the "Get Register Code" and a window popped up with a register key and a download link. I copied the key, downloaded the software from the link, installed and pasted in the copied key and registered just fine. No pain, no strain. Thanks GAOD and thanks Digiarty.

I had an earlier version of this which I foolishly deleted in the interest of saving hard drive space so thank you GOTD and Digiarity for offering this.

I downloaded and tested the program with XP service pack 3 and an AMD Athalon 2650E 1.61 GHz and 896 of RAM. The download is covered under several other posts here and went perfectly.

I ripped a full length commercial film from DVD resulting in a 4.81 GB mpg file which essentially retained the clarity and quality of both video and audio original tracks when viewed side by side on the same hi-def monitor using VLC player on full screen. Just the main title was ripped for the purpose of this test.

Really great software, been using it for a while now. There are only two flaws in my opinion.

1. Can not crop video to remove black bars.
2. Final output has "digiarty video dll" inserted about 30 times into the video metadata.

Anyway, thanks GAOTD and Digiarty!

To #35: I had a similar problem when I first tried DVD ripping software. Turned out I needed to download the DivX codecs, and on the advice of another GOTD user, I downloaded from www.divx.com. I've been able to play movies since, and have had no malware problems.

Balaji R, thanks for the Acer response. I have the Aspire one and I don't see a 768 or scroll. I'll look some more. The normal properties only give two setting both with 600 as the height.

I use mine for travel. Size and toughness works great on airplanes.
I load TV shows mostly and with a headset it works well.
I have one hooked to one of my TVs as well, transfer shows with a thumb drive.

I use an external DVD and a external HD as well.

Price and toughness they are great. Not a gamer, Word, Excel, Email, Internet and video.

#15 (Arnie) The comment made by #1 says to download from GOTD, THEN get the license code from the site. And you don't really "download" the key. You cut and paste it into the proper area on the software once you start it up.

@ Arnie, post #15: Good advice. Just to clarify: the GAOTD does NOT allow for updating and yet -- bizarrely -- a direct download of the exact same software from the developer's own site does just that.

It's the first time I've seen this kind of confusion occurring between any developer and GAOTD, and especially a situation which actually argues against using GAOTD when a much better offer -- and a smaller download of 26.5MB compared to GAOTD's wrapper-enclosed 33MB - is available direct. . . yet is, confusingly, all thanks to GAOTD.

(To obtain the developer download, go to the link in post #1 and click on Get Register Code; this will display a small splash screen containing the Digiarty 26.5MB download link.)

Thanks then, GAOTD, for offering and publicising this, but downloading from here makes no sense at all when the developer's direct deal is superior.

As for this software:

Handicapped -- as ever -- by an inability to re-size the GUI (why is it that developers in 2012 / 2013 seem to have absolutely no idea that as computer screen prices have dropped, computer screen sizes have gone up? Don't they know what's happening in the real world??) today's software is stable, robust, easy to use and thankfully has enough readily accessible options to overcome some defaults that are really too low-quality for practical purposes.

I've used Digiarty's ripper in preference to, say, Wondershare's (and its associate, Aiseesoft) for a long time, and it's been good to see the steady evolution of the product in the past few years.

Today's offer is well worth capitalising on even if it's blatantly contra-intuitive for any developer to idiotically restrict the size of the preview screen in any imaging software: people want to SEE as much as possible of what they're doing, Digiarty, and no amount of working on the software's engine or tarting up the GUI is ever going to compensate for denial of screen estate.

Follow-up to #18 and #15 Arnie: When you go to Digiarty's site, next to the registration code it says: "(Giveaway version doesn't provide update.)" That could imply that if you download it from their site you get updates as well, but I think it's just a caveat reminder that giveaways do no include updates.

Comment #1 says to download from GOTD, then get the register license code. But you cannot get the register license code from the WINDVD site (which the GOTD download supplied link), unless you use a different link to the WINDVD site.
Just plain stupid. So which download do we download: GOTD, or WINDVD? Why did we need to wait for comment #15?

Great software, the UI improvements on their software are welcomed by many. The only issue I have is the documentation is online. If the company were to be sold or go out of business, it's possible this could be lost and leave a lot of users in the dark. Not that I think that will happen, I just believe it's always better to provide a personal copy with any software sold. I would advise anyone using this to download a copy of the documentation to your PC and store it in the program's directory just in case.

I'll stick with DVD Flick anyday since it too is free. At least flick recognizes different (folders) for the conversion process. This program doesn't recognize a .AVI file (inside a folder)? Are you kidding me? And this is supposed to have a new engine? I believe the programmers need to study the "source code" for (DVD Flick) for some much needed pointers! Uninstalled after 10 minutes. Thanks anyways GOTD.

@#13 William: The Acer EEE PC's (I assume you have one of those given that those are the only ones I know that have a 1024x600 screen. If this does not apply to you, I apologize) have at least two display modes that make the screen compatible with 1024x768 display. One of them compresses 768 vertical pixels into 600, making everything appear a little short and wide. The other one allows you to scroll your entire screen up and down allowing you to access the entire 768 pixels of vertical real estate by moving the screen up and down. One or either of them should fix the problem of menus being off-screen.

The bigger question for me is, these small netbooks don't have a DVD drive. Are you using this PC with an external DVD drive? If not, why do you care about this program: as far as I can tell, it would be completely useless without a way to load a physical DVD disk.

1) To Arnie, poster #15, I saw your post and I was Surprised that GOTD Moderator Allowed your post. Nonetheless, I followed your tip and downloaded "dvd-ripper-pt-7.exe" (about 27MB)and installed A-OK on Vista Hm Prem., X64 and Registered A-OK with the Given "Register Code".

Now I don't know if there is a difference between the above 27MB version and the GOTD version "WinXDVDRipperPlat700.zip"that is about 33.8MB!?!?

Q: Can anyone from GOTD or anyone else answer this!?!?

2) I converted an ISO file with it to AVI ... using MPEG4 Codec and the completed MP4 file was bad ... had a Crash Report that the program keep bugging me about sending it to them ... which I did.

I converted the same file with their DivX to AVI ... (DivX was their Default ... I wonder what version of DivX they are using ... or will I be Better Off with XviD) ... this time the Conversion went A-OK. Fiel was playable.

Overall, I like the WinXDvd since it allows more than just plain DVD Original Input ... ISO, and Folder Option is very Usable to me.

Also, I liked the fact that the program Automatically Sorted all the Different Titles within my ISO file ... since they were in fact different Clips.

Also, they have made the Program Dummy-Proof with the Slider button for Quality ... but when clicking on the Gear thingy in top ... will tell you your settings and I think you can modify the set-up to your liking ... but I didn't try it.

BTW, I tried for 2nd time the MPEG4 conversion and again it choked.

Thanks to WinXDvd & GOTD Team for the Good Giveaway.

G!:)

The offer says "The program is available for $59.95, but it will be free for our visitors as a time-limited offer." What is the time-limit? I have an earlier version installed that has been working for a good while. I would hate to overwrite it with this one if it only works for a short time.

I purchased WinX DVD Ripper years ago,and it worked great ... until this recent upgrade. Since then, my DVD rips in wmv format will only launch and play on Windows Media Player, when the rips in wmv I made before the upgrade will easily play on other players like VLC, The KMPlayer, and Media Player Classic. Also, since the upgrade the rips no longer fill the screen when playing, but center with a thick black border framing the film. It can be minimized some by increasing resolution and cropping the movie in rip settings if the original has letterbox. However, this border issue does not happen on movies ripped before the major upgrade. I contacted WinX and they gave me information on reinstalling. Great customer service. But, I still have the same issues. I hope these bugs will eventually get worked out. Rips to avi and other formats load ok in the other players, though I've noticed the soundtrack sometimes being a bit off too. Again, before this upgrade to 7.0, I did not have any of these issues with my WinX DVD ripped movies. These issues occur with players on my laptop and other computers.

I purchased WinXDVD Ripper Platinum after liking a previous giveaway and WinX had a nice sale. I've been pleased overall, though there have been a few DVDs where the ripping into proper movie sections didn't seem to work right, but I've experienced this with other rippers as well, so I don't think it is unique to WinX. Highly recommended. I find it stable, with regular updates, and has worked well on most DVDs I've tried.
