I recently downloaded WinUtilities from this site and have been using it and it is wonderful and has given me a lot of help. I suffered a virus crash a few days ago and had to re-format my hard drive and reload windows. When I went to re-install WinUtilities, I was prevented because the "Give away of the day" date had expired. I was wondering if I could, in some way, continue to use this program as it was very helpful to me. I cannot afford to purchase it at this time.

I used it for a few days and it seemed to of slowed down my XP, I used the software to removed unused files and Oh boy did it. 40K+ files and I thought wow, this thing rocks. I soon found out it removed some basic necessary files for XP. I tried recovery and didn't restore. I had to completely re-image my pc because if it. I wrote them a nasty note and removed it from my system, never to use it again.

The last version of this program that was offered sent me on a whirlwind of problems. I'd say this may not be for the novice user (perhaps) because if you don't know what you are doing you'll mess everything up. The first thing I had done was mess with the registry cleaner and not knowing what it was to delete and not to I went ahead and deleted everything (without backing up- a no-no in computer geekdom but, who knows everything about that?). Next thing i know i am experiencing virus problems galore. Worms of all that. If this program came with an understandable user manual, which I tried going through and didn't understand, (perhaps) this program would have been easier to understand and apply and maybe I wouldn't have had to go through the ordeals of reformatting.

Don't know if this is specific to my system, but clicking the Winutilities History Cleaner button and using Erase Now deletes all my Firefox 3.0.5 bookmarks. Firefox did load noticeably quick afterwards, though I sure could do without this feature .

I for one am very pleased that GOTD repeated this offer as I missed it the last time. Some people need to be reminded that not all of us live on our computers and some of us miss some very good deals.

I have heard a lot of good things about WinUtilities and am very excited that I get to finally try it. It was easy to install (win XP) and appears to be very user friendly.

Thank you GOTD for this little gem!

I finally got this downloaded and activated, and I love it. Thanks, GOTD. However, when I first tried to download it, I was redirected to another page which downloaded a different product. That product scanned my computer's "C" drive, and then tried to charge me $29.99 to "clean" my "C" drive. What's up with that?
