Bugs me too to see something other than GOTD. Critics that can not spell simple words.

Thanks for Johnny Castaway. I missed him since Win 3.1.
As much as I like other screensavers it doesn't heat up (lol) my aging winxp laptop.
There was also a game on my 3.1 called Heaven and Earth I miss a lot. It was a special "card" game that I got stuck on a "miror" mini game:-(.
One newer screensaver I miss is the clockwork where you see all the gears working that was incredible.

Thanks again everyone.

UPDATE to my recent comment. This is the same SC I already have. It has tulips, a donkey (not a horse), chickens. It is worth the get. I still look at it once in a while!

I cannot tell, but this looks like it is the same screensaver that was given away a few years ago. Flat scenery, that has a horse, chickens, smoke coming out of the chimney. If it is, or is not, I am sure this is a good one. The one I got was really good, and if this is the 2nd edition, this may be even better! Thanks, GOATD!!!!!

I’ve noticed that screensavers consume much more energy than if you do not use them. I do not find any reason for using so cold screensavers, do you?Comment by Ototo — December 8th, 2013 at 12:45 pm
In a case where a computer is used in a home or office where heating is required, computers do not add any additional energy to your utility bills. This applies to any heat-generating appliance, lights, fans, etc. In the cold winter weather, you can run them as much as you like without any worry as long as you don't overdo it (if you find you need to run air conditioning in the winter, then maybe you're Al Gore).

Obviously, running heat-generating equipment and lights outside will waste energy. Don't run your screensaver on a picnic.

We are already having a very cold winter where I am (although winter didn't officially start yet). Thus, I'm going to run as many screensavers on as many computers as I like. This just means that my furnace will run for 2 minutes less each wintry day.

I already have Windmill 3D screensaver installed, and it makes a nice decoration for snowbound kids on these amazing cold "fall" days. Thanks Astro-Gemini for posting this again. Thanks GOTD for this and the other great giveaways.

This is not a bash at anyone, but for those who say the screensaver consumes more energy, how, specifically, do you measure the amount of energy is consumed (not CPU usage)?

Win 7 users don't need a screen saver because of the wall paper slide show which is probably why they are always moaning about this software. This type of screen saver is perfect for Win XP users. There are still thousands of XP users, like my neighbour and she was totally mesmerized with with this freebie.
I think it's only fair to give AstroGemini a thumbs up for their work, when they put a decent screen saver together.
The music is annoying though.

Hey. It's a free screen saver so why complain? You either want it or don't want it.. it's as simple as that. Also, don't complain to GOTD about offering screensavers such as #3 did. Remember, it's not about you. If you think of it, not all offers here are for everyone. It's free so don't complain.

One last curiosity I have:
I see folks calling "Giveaway of the Day" GAOTD, GOATD, etc.
It's simply "GOTD"

Giveaway = G
Of.......= O
The......= T
Day......= D

Remember, it's just 4 letters. Have a nice day :-}

Answer to no. 8: Johnny Castaway is still out there for free. Do a search using the two words.

Answer to whomever it may concern: I enjoy screen savers too. I had several that I lost when my computer went down. I'm hoping they will be repeated some time. Lots of them I don't care for, but everyone is different. Someone will think they are gorgeous. Thank you GAOD.

I'll take a look at this.
My use of screensavers is to take screenshots of images that I might want to use in Photoshop, say to put someone standing by a windmill.

A nice little screen saver (yes, I like them, just as other people love graphics editors or DVD rippers). It installed, and runs, perfectly on Windows 8.1 64-bit. Thank you GAOTD!

I grabbed this one last time it was offered on GAOTD and liked it enough to keep it. Very relaxing. I agree it's not realistic like a movie, but my imagination can fill in lots of gaps -- I like it that way! I have enjoyed most of Astro Gemini's screen savers. Thanks for re-posting.

For all who constantly deride every screensaver offered here and demean any who like them - hanging paintings on the wall of your living room isn't necessary either, but many people do it and enjoy them.

Sitting here surrounded by three monitors I much prefer an animated screensaver on two of them to a static desktop, or a dark screen. My appreciation to these developers and to GAOTD.

Thanks Astro Gemini and GOTD for the nice screensaver. I am glad that Astro Gemini went back to a many scene screensaver than just one scene that the last few have been, also that the music is different. A thought for Astro Gemini, if you offer a Xmas screensaver as usual, will you put music in it that is closer to Christmas Carols than the music that is with the last year Xmas screensavers.
I know the computers don't need screensavers anymore, but they are so nice to enjoy when you take a break on the computer and Astro Gemini have some nice ones. There might be better 3D graphic screensavers on the net, but I am still on XP and my graphic's card can't handle too heavy of graphics.

I'd like to thank GOTD and Astro Gemini for this golden opportunity to laugh at the self-entitled brats who will cry because they weren't given something more valuable for free and the technical experts who will enlighten us as to why we don't need screensavers anymore.

Get over yourselves. Some people, for very valid reasons, like screensavers for what they still are.

Although screensavers are unnecessary for LCD monitors some people enjoy looking at them. This windmill screensaver is pleasant enough and not too demanding on the system. Thanks for offering it!

Well without going into the debate of "are screen savers useful" I d/led this program and well it does what it says. My 3 yr old daughter was mesmerized for hours while it snowed outside this morning. as for keeping it I will keep it and leave it for her to watch every now and then. I dont personally need one I just use blank but it is nice to look at. but back to the point at hand I give it a 5 out of 5 for what the devlopers say and what it does.

A few quibbles with the technical details of the windmill, but you'd probably have to had spent time in a working Dutch mill to notice. All in all a very nice piece of screen art.

No problems at all installing on Win7 64-bit.

Extremely realistic, colorful graphics;

Dear Astrogemini, nope, in no way.

The windmill in your screensaver could never turn in reality. You are excused, because you have never seen a turning windmill. It is simply missing the cloth an the windmill sails, without real sails, no working windmill, that simple.

Please delete the "extremely realistic" in your description.

Thanks!

Thanks GAOTD for your effort, but shouldn't be the time to stop giving away useless piece of code like screensavers?

In the flat-panel LCD displays era, the only function they have is to waste electricity for nothing: is Astro Gemini developer aware of that? It looks like he's not...

It would be nice to hear a comment by him about this issue.

Anyway thanks!

yep, this could be a Dutch scenery. Also the music sounds a bit 18th century Dutch fold dance music (and thus sounds annoying after about 20 seconds if not sooner)
With music off it could be usefull for those that still use screensavers for whatever the reason.
