I am by no means a "techie" in this crowd. I do not want to delete installed updates or edit the registry just to get a program to work on 64-bit. It isn't worth it - even if it's a free program. I never did get this to work even after following the directions on the page in the first comment. After reading further and seeing everything I'd have to uninstall and edit I decided it wasn't worth keeping so I uninstalled it. Maybe if they provide a 64-bit version of the program that didn't require so much digging I'd be willing to try it.

It does nothing, all I get were a couple of windows (Wavein:20: and Waveout:20:) saying "The specified format is not compatible or can't be translated..." over and over again. For me, this is just an useless piece of shit.

I do not know why a few people have problems on installation. Maybe it is caused by the complex installation for 64bit windows. There is a userful FAQ on its website:
http://www.shiningmorning.com/VirtualAudioStreaming/faq.html.
It simply works on my computer without any problem.

Win7 64-bit. Installed but could not register. Received the same 3 driver errors as many other people. Uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result. Followed instructions for Win7 64-bit install from developer's web page TO THE LETTER and could not get drivers to load. Uninstalled again. Enough is enough. This software is utterly useless for evaluation/testing purposes.

Too bad because I had been looking for a program that could do what this one claimed it could do. This would have been the most useful GAOTD product I have seen (at least for me) had it actually worked.

It seems it was released way before is should have been. Not worth the time and trouble (and potential system damage) required to try to get it to work on Win7 64-bit OS. Pity.

FYI, the stereo mix was not disabled by Microsoft or Dell in Win7. The problem is with your soundcard. I have a Dell PC without stereo mix because Soundblaster dropped it when they updated the drivers for their X-Fi cards to Win7. It was/is available in the XP drivers. Creative has one reference to this buried on their website. And when I contacted customer support, they verified that the stereo mix was no longer supported. As a result, I will never buy another Creative product. They are dishonest when they claim the soundcard is compatable with Win7.

To get around this I have tried the Freecorder toolbar to record internet radio, but about half the time it garbles the first few seconds of the track.

My suggestion is buy a Y adapter. Plug the single (male)end into your line out jack (usually green). Plug your speakers into the one female end and connect the other female end to a cable that connects to your microphone jack. Pick your favorite recording program, adjust the recording levels and your ready to go.

Another alternative are some media players that can record without the stereo mix. Try Winamp and get the Streamripper plugin. Or try Nexus radio.
