I don't really understand how dare publishers of this utility let the program dial-up and make defragmentation of the disks without any user's permission?

I did not make clear in previous statement about loss of emails , many of which were important to me and I wanted to save. I had this software remove all of my temp files. When completed all of my email messages were gone, (inputs, sents, and drafts)! I had the recyle bin reinstall all of the temp files...still no email. A system recovery did not recover the emails. Fortunately I do a frequent backup on an external drive and recovered them. There is something wrong with this package it definitely shouldn't do what it did. Make sure you have backups before tinkering with this stuff.

As this is a several-times rerun, you can read my comments for the previous version. For those asking about AnVir, etc., what you prefer is up to you. The coding on this is poor but the features are OK. Personally, I much prefer AnVir (I paid for the top version), which does a whole lot more. There is a free version of AnVir and some similar utilities, including Microsoft Sysinternals Process Explorer, AutoRuns, etc., as well as the Vista Reliability and Performance Monitor (something similar on XP), etc. Even the Vista Task Manager has some features not found in any of the aforementioned products.

I just had to point this out, but, defragging SDRAM (or really, any sort of solid state RAM) is stupid. The reason you defrag data on a harddrive is because the heads must physically move to track the data and this adds a delay. However, with solid state, seeking is going to be no faster whether it's seeking to the next block or one all the way at the opposite end of memory. It's all the same in the end. The only thing this can do is potentially cause problems to things expecting to find data stored at a particular address and suddenly finding it elsewhere. (Yes, there aren't many, but there aren't zero of these, yet there are zero benefits from defragging...)

Otherwise it can be a handy program.

Okay - I guessed what UNLOCK might have been - so I went through the Ctrl-Alt alphabet and found it was a hotkey that unlocked.

I've come across the LOCK/UNLOCK problem too.

For something as bewildering as this function then I can only declare this software as utterly foolish. Other do as well.
