Hi, this program seems to work as stated. I gave it a few tests and it printed word documents just fine, but had minor difficulty printing web pages with complex table layouts. Overall, I still give this program two thumbs up. Thank you GOTD and ByteScout Software!

same problem as #67. Any help ? This is not very positive somebody should be also responding like "assistance". This is not a good advertise if you get an error.... and no answer at all.

–I also agree about the streaming aspect of a Flash file, however one downside of a flash file is that you can’t SEARCH it. As in, its a vector graphic, not searchable copyable selectable text. And you can’t rightclick a flash animation and get options to save or email or copy, etc, you just get that FLASH menu. So there are pro’s and cons to either one.

Yeah, the only way to get text from a Flash file (at least, the way the tend to be done) is to decompile it, which unfortunately usually counts as being illegal (I think). Would be nice if the SWFs created by this program had the option to have selectable text (Yes, Flash does support that!), but I guess that's a feature for a later version.

I think this is poorly written software, bad sizing on screens, and most pages saved to pdf, and or, swf come out mis-formatted. Not a good product, not even worth being free.

I was very excited about this one. The PDF format only produces a blank sheet. I sounds like a lot of others had the same problem. I would really like to try it again some time when all of the bugs are worked out.

Interesting program.

SWF creation appears to work fine. There is a small selection of buttons available in the program to choose from.

The PDF creation leaves a little to be desired. Will not print out text but it will print out pictures. Looking at the options panel; it appears that maybe all what was intended though.

Some of the options could use a little explanation!

Thanks for the program :-)

I loved this for printing to a file a copy of an Adobe Reader document that was originally a book with unlimited printing rights. Now I can read it at my leisure. I didn't have any luck getting the book into SWF, but maybe that's because the file would have been too large(?) For my purposes, that aspect is unimportant. The PDF functions are terrific!

If you want a simple, quick, free PDF converter, try PDF995. Download here: http://www.pdf995.com/
This program is much faster and cleaner than the Adobe Distiller which is part of the expensive Adobe Acrobat program. In my experience, PDF995 performs flawlessly.

1. I posted how to fix the corrupted zip download already. Check the comments from yesterday or day before.

2. The post above is in Dutch. And feel free to post in whatever language you desire. It's the 21st century. It's planet earth, and the internet is Global. Get used to it. All languages are good. If it's new to you, then move on, or learn a bit of something new in your life.

3. I posted a free PDF maker here the other day. Good to mention the review of this program's PDF capabilities, but if you do need a utility to print to PDF. Use that. The one I posted. (And sorry, but ADOBE's tools suck. Go get Adobe when you want bloated, slow, software that uses NETFEAD OPTIMIZER junk and that requires you to download 1 program that's not the actual program, but really only a 'downloader' that runs and actually downloads the real program, and then it bundles YAHOO TOOLBARS and Yahoo IM and Yahoo junk all over the place unless you optout of it. If another company had put forth a portable document format that got adopted, it would be 10 times cleaner and 10 times faster, and 100 times better. And now it's not good because Adobe bought up Macromedia and is now going to screw up FLASH for the world now too. [Thanks to LAURA for the tip of another free PDF maker program. Thanks. And thanks to ZIPZAP, and MARK too. It's always nice when people make nice helpful suggestions.]

4. "PDFs are good for distributing documents but with Flash you can embed the document within a webpage for online viewing."

--I agree that it's very annoying when you just want to get info quickly and READ the info online on the actual web page, but a company puts a PDF on there instead of just showing the info, then you have to click a link, download the pdf, then go find it, then click to open that, then wait for acrobat to load, then all of adobe's PLUGIN junk, then finally you get to see it. --If anyone out there is reading this, JUST PUT THE INFO ONLINE IN HTML!-- stop using PDF's for that!

--I also agree about the streaming aspect of a Flash file, however one downside of a flash file is that you can't SEARCH it. As in, its a vector graphic, not searchable copyable selectable text. And you can't rightclick a flash animation and get options to save or email or copy, etc, you just get that FLASH menu. So there are pro's and cons to either one.

5. Oh, my god, I can't believe I actually agree with something BillW50 said. What's the world coming to! Yes, Maxthon is a superior browser. 100% Agreed. Best. (And yes, everyone pretty much knows now that Firefox is not as good as it was hyped up to be. Too many security flaws, browsing flaws, exploits, incompatibilities, etc. Opera is ok too. And some others.)

6. Thanks to CHUCK LAMBERT too. Good suggestion on Foxit Reader. Have used that forever. TO ANYONE out there using ADOBE's READER...DELETE IT! And get that FOXIT READER. Much better. Just like Chuck says above. Free too.

Nice job guys & girls!

For PDFs, I highly recommend the free PDFCreator program - it also supports other formats to output as (mostly image formats, but I believe there's also postscript and a few others) and has several nifty features.

I, however, am having no trouble with this software. Nice features, works reasonably fast, though the SWF quality is a little low and I think the print queue sometimes hangs until another print job is sent. Not sure.

(Also, using this software made me realise that trying to print the GotD website results in a lot of crap ;> I get blank pages and overlapped text here and there.)

Tried to install it on 2 different Windows 2000 machines, both installs produced the same error:
"AddMonitor() failed. Error #3007: The specified print monitor does not have the required functions"

Guess I will stick with the free programs.

I've installed the printer. There is a message advising I have it on 30 days trial but it asks me to click on the CONTINUE button which doesn't respond. The box asking for the serial number is the only usable option.

If anyone installs this software and it breaks Adobe Acrobat (whenever you do anything like open an explorer window or Outlook it pops up an Acrobat installation window saying it needs to update or something, but it can't find the right folder), here is how to fix it:

1) Go into regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
2) Delete the Favorites value
3) Right click in the window, click New > Expandable String Value. Name it "Favorites" and use the same value it was before: %USERPROFILE%\Favorites

I don't know what this software did, but obviously it doesn't cooperate well with other printer plugins

#58: Flash is not "binded into html files". .swf files are seperate files. They may be *called* from html files, take a look at it... the file with .swf will run without html file.
Not to insult you or anyone, but maybe next time you should first check things, before you talk about them.

Translation of #24 (Dutch, or at least in a version of Dutch):
Great tool, highly recommendable since Flash can be assumed to be installed on 99% of all pc's, at home or in the office.
Really easy (to use) and solid/reliable/trustworthy, also for working at home.

(I'm Dutch myself, maybe the author of #24 is Belgian or it's written in the way he speaks in his part of the country, as there were a few things that I interpreted in a number of ways)

For those who complain about not getting text in their .pdf's:
Heck, 9 out of 10 times I don't see the text in files that are created with Adobe's own software.
I just tested the .pdf functionality myself, because the comments were making me curious... and in 2 cases I didn't get the text, but in 6 others I did.
It has something to do with the used fonts and/or the system's settings for these fonts but I'm not yet sure of just what is mucking it up.

Il risultato? Un PDF con SOLO le righe gialle e le sottolineature ma SENZA ALCUNA PAROLA DI TESTO. Disinstallato immediatamente ed installato Paperess printer

I cannot imagine why somebody wants to turn a static document into a spacious Flash. Flash is good for animation, movies, tutorials etc. But the files are quite large and binded into a HTML document. PDF files are much smaller and therefore simple single file solutions. Free PDF software can easily be found on the net. I uninstalled SWF Printer Pro with no regrets!

PDF doesn't work for me either. I'm running XP SP1 and US character set. I get graphics but no text. I've tried IE, notepad and Word 2003. I've tried various character sets in the SWF Printer Pro output choices and still no luck. SWF works fine, but it's not really not really what I want.

I haven't tried the PDF functionality yet, don't need that at this time.
But the functionality regarding .swf is great.
I've got only one minor grudge; the style of the buttons that are used to navigate in the generated style, or at least those at the bottom... too big and fugly...
I'll look into ways of fixing that myself though.
One thing that I liked especially:
I'm writing a fan-fic in OpenOffice.
I've had that file open for the past 4 days, and didn't close it while installing this giveaway.
Yet I still was able to save the file and generate a .swf without closing the open file.
Excellent.

Flash creation works great in Open Office. You may need to adjust page size to view all text. Buttons tend to get in the way. PDF doesn't work, but that's already built into Open Office. Great for free tool but not worth $$$ yet.

I have seen better pdf software. I get lines in the pdf that makes it partly unreadable.

As for the SWF. It delivers a pretty big file. It would be easier to put an image online.

This program is great for starters, but people with a little more computer knowledge might find it a little redundant.
