I tried downloading this program and it would not open on my Vista Computer?

Now it is to late to take advantage of the free offer!

Hope they give us another chance to download and install to a Vista system!

No: 56 Laura.

(here is Irfan, the author or IrfanView)

Laura: you are probably an "expert" and you can show all of us, which malware etc. is in IrfanView?

And of course, why you can't uninstall it, which "traces" are left in the system?

=> tell us facts!

Writing incorrect/stupid stuff without proof and facts is not nice.

If you don't know where from to download a software, use CNet. (this is also the default download link on my website)

If you get a software from a phishing site and get malware, you must not blame the software for this, you should blame you!

What you get for free. I tried several old, useless progs like this. The standard is the prog in MS Word - crop & resize fast. But, Word will not save graphics in JPG. Old git

Yes, it has very few features compared to something like photoshop, but it's a light-weight program that makes it easy to crop and resize photos. I actually had a big pile of photos that needed to be resized the day this program was released and was dreading opening every one in photoshop because it's really not worth it to load that RAM-heavy program unless I'm going to be doing some serious editing, which I was not.

So I wandered over here, and bingo! A small program that let me resize all my phots much faster than photoshop would have. I approve.

Hi Folks,

There is no justification for slandering a well respected program like Irfanview if you do not have supporting information. As the previous poster said you may not downloaded it from a reliable site (e.g. the author, Snapfiles and Fileforum are the 3 reliable sites I recommend) and somebody could play tricks. Most shareware sites do not do much checking on their files, but at least the other reputable ones (Tucows, Softpedia, PCMag, and many more) should get them from the author. MajorGeeks and Nonags might get some good note, as well.

How to check supporting information ? Check Snapfiles, Fileforum, CNet/Download.com see what are in the reader reviews (those are known for generally legit reader reviews) also you can check Wilders and Castlecops.

Put the name of the program in Google with the name of the locale for a quickfind.

Generally, a quick rag of a well-respected program, without supporting info, for having 'nasties' is going to be found to be wrong.

Shalom,
Steven

I downloaded this no problem. My teenaged son just used it to edit photos for the first time. It worked well for him. Other programs we've tried are complicated for him at this point. So we're happy. Free, doesn't take up much space, kid likes it--what's not to like?

For those of you who don't know, many people who work from home must have a "clean" computer with nothing that could compromise their clients' information. Sometimes they are not even allowed to have game programs on their computers. Home work rarely pays enough to have a second computer for personal use. Laura is a professional and doing the right thing being cautious. Would you want your medical info. going out because a transcriptionist working from home downloaded malware?

Thanks for the programs, GAOTD and Happy Holidays everyone!

This is a very poor imitation of PSP7. It has very limited use. It is not worth the download. I would prefer PaintShop Pro anyday anytime. Too bad folks.
