Hi bubulah - try using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall, as it performs a deeper removal of registry entries. Make sure you download the free version (there's now a Pro version that's not free). Good luck :)

Very nice program. Thanks for the portable version. What would make the program more useful for me is a stronger form filling/template ability. In particular things like resumes--more and more jobs are asking you to fill them out online which can take a long time. What would be really REALLY slick is if you could get some kind of self-learning deal on top of that so if you answered a question on a form once the program would remember it and fill it in the next time in the same way. How many times on these forms do I have to fill in "Have you ever been convicted of a felony? Or are you a U.S. citizen? Social Security number." Fed, State, Post Office jobs etc. ask for some of the same things. Plus it would be nice not to have to copy/paste elements of your resume. Be nice to be able to pdf your resume from Sticky Password too. On the business side it would be nice if after having gone to all the trouble to use say--Paypal--that the program had the option to aggressively apply and remember all the paypal settings automatically/a box pop up saying that you had paypal or so and so credit card on file and did you want to apply either of these settings. Anyway thanks again for the program.

Q1. are minor updates included in the GOTD release? (example v4.1.1.190 to v4.2.x etc)

The Giveawayoftheday.com Terms and Conditions, clause 2) says no upgrades for future versions, but upgrades are usually considered from v4 to v5, etc
_____

What are the license conditions for a purchased version?

I see on the web-site that previous version can update at 40% discount but what are the license conditions for those who've come to Sticky Passwords as a result of seeing it here at GOTD for the very first time.

Q2. is a purchased license good for 1 year/2 years etc, or for lifetime?

Q3. are minor updates included for a purchased (not GOTD) license?

Q4. are any Major upgrades included with a purchased (NOT GOTD) license (for example from v4.x to v5.x), or, major upgrade is free if bought within a period of time before a new version is released? (for example, 60 days of new version being released)

Q5. can a genuine Liftime license which includes major upgrades & minor updates be purchased? (for example: some companies charge 2x normal price to grant the user a Lifetime license)

Q6. Can a license (or Lifteime License) be purchased that covers all the computers normally used in a family or home environment? (for example our house currently has 1x desktop + 3x notebooks & 1x Microsoft home server (for backups)

Q7. is there any purchase offer or discount for a GOTD user buying a full license?

Many thanks

This program seems very nice, but the main drawback I see to it is that if you want the program updated your going to have to pay for the newer version. With Lastpass you get all future updates and versions for free. This program also doesn't seem to organize your password list (separate links into categories)

All I can say is that I like it! It seems easy to use and even the install was easy. I like the idea of being able to turn it off or lock it when I'm not using it. I've got teenagers at home and I was uncomfortable with all my passwords for banks and everything in my browser. Now I can just lock it and the accounts are safe. Thanks gotd!!

@90 when setting up a new install, it isn't possible to access an old database with a new or random password. Entering a new password will create a new database.
The settings menu has a section with 'Authorization Method' that lets you set even 'No authorization'(or bluetooth or usb) instead of a master password. It says that it's not recommended, but you can decide what the risk is for yourself.

The software has worked as advertised. It took a couple of tries to get it to work correctly, but after that point it works very nice.
I had to install it two times to actually get it to work correctly (go figure)...the first time the icon didn't really get setup on my window (upper right)...so had to install again and reboot. Once I did this then this software has worked fine. I would recommend the software to other. My #1 recommendation would be to create better tutorials on setup and use (including step by step screen prints). This should also be the docuementation necessary for each option.
This would help "bigtime" in ending confusion around what looks to be a very nice software choice. Thanks to the publisher and GOTD for this offer.

Thanks RichU, that's where it was hiding. I wasn't looking that far over to the right, I thought it would be in the menu bar or toolbar. Very few apps I've worked with add icons there.

Now for the next problem.

When I single click on the icon, it says "Autofill plug-in not installed". Fine, when I click on it a dialog box tells me to close my browser, then the app displays a message saying that the plug-in has been successfully installed. Great. Then I restart my browser, fill in my userid and password, click on the button again and ... oops, same message. I've done it 3 times now, no luck.

I'm open to suggestions. Is this a an Admin rights problem? I'm working in a user class ID.

I didn't have lucky yet as all the others have had as per their contentment in this forum.

I installed in my win7/64 bit but when the time came to register it and enter the key it says "license key is invalid". Could you please help me to solve this puzzle?

I installed this program also in my LP vista home premium 32 bit. I came across to the same warning. No lucky for me in neither of the computers.

I would really love to have this program for I definitely need it.

Help me if you can.

92, "Settings indicates that the “Caption button” is installed in FireFox and ID" sic

I think the "caption" button is up in the upper right-hand corner of your browser. It looks just like the icon in the taskbar and if you mouse over it, it will say Sticky Password. Double click and you will get a list of options.

I installed this program mainly for the portable version which wasn't what I expected. I have my flashdrive set up in a particular way with a folder for all of my programs. Sticky Password doesn't ask where it should be installed on your flashdrive (I wanted it under my "programs" folder with all of my other programs) nor would it let me change where the database was located so I could have everything placed in one folder. UNINSTALLED !!!

OK, I'd like to think I'm no dummy but I can't get it work as advertised.

Sticky Password automatically recognizes a new account if it is not found in the Database. After authorization in
the application / on the website, Sticky Password offers to save data in the Database.

The app is installed and running in task bar. Settings indicates that the "Caption button" is installed in FireFox and ID. (BTW, do you mean "Capture" ie "capture the userid and password entered on a page" rather than Caption?) I don't see any 'caption' button, and can't get it to manually capture the info I need to log into my gmail. I tried following the instructions in the downloaded help file, no luck there. Please update the help file to include 'idiot proof' step by step instructions for "auto" capture and "Manual" capture.

"all of you data is encrypted using the most secure, military-grade encryption algorithms available in the industry."
- the correct syntax is "all of YOUR"
- please list the available encryption on the GOTD site and on your web site. people who understand NEED to know how good the algorithms are. The only place I found them was in the app. You have all the "right" ones, so publicize it more clearly

I need to know, it needs to be "brain dead easy" and fast or I will be uninstalling the program.

web site says program can distinguish trojans from real programs, how? Whitelisting? explain it more on your website

"Auto check for updates", does this mean our GOTD license will allow updates or will it crap out the first time an update is applied? I've seen both ways on with apps offered on this site. Please clarify.

In post #70 you listed the available authorization methods. Add that to your website.

Here is what their website says:
Will Sticky Password know all of my existing passwords and make them available when I upgrade to the new version?
Yes, upgrading to the newest version of Sticky Password is easy. Simply download the installation package and double click on the icon to begin installing. Sticky Password will automatically import your passwords and Identities to the new version and install the new version while eliminating all unnecessary files from the previous version. Please note that you will be asked to enter your current Master Password from your earlier version of Sticky Password. (You will be asked to enter your Master Password even in the event that you have chosen "No authorization" as your authorization method in the Settings menu.)

I tried entering nothing at all, but it doesn't allow that.
I tried actually entering a password and the program told me that this was the wrong password, but did allow me to enter a *new password* for the old database?????? What is the security there?
I was then finally able to get into the program to enter my registration data.
It is only my wife and I that use these computers, and we DO NOT want or need a master password. I really like this program but forcing me to enter a master password when I do not need one makes it a real pain, not to mention that now you have the opportunity to lose all your data if you forget it. :^(
I had one computer from a previous giveaway that started asking for a master password one day and I was never able to get it working on that computer again.

Well, I did have an older copy of Sticky password on my wife's computer which did not use a master password. When I installed the new version and then was required to re-boot, the new version is now asking for a master password from the old version. Didn't have one, so I am now stuck with no usable Sticky Password at all.
I did make a portable backup to a USB flash drive, to save the passwords, but I'm not sure how to get this working again.

...Hi Beans... use the "portable version" option to store your passwords on and take with you anyplace. You can use a USB stick (flash drive), SDK card, CD/DVD, external hard drive, etc.

...Personally, I use an 8gb USB stick, which has other stuff, like photos, start up disks, registry and other clean up programs, etc, and carry in my pocket. If at say my brothers and showing me pics of the kids, or some cool software, just load to the USB stick and back in my pocket for later.

@76 - No need to uninstall anything. New versions are prepared in a way that they go over the older ones without hassle for the user. At times a restart is needed, but that is pretty much expected with such application and does depend on the system you are using.

Sticky Password is a nice app that stores/organizes your passwords in an encrypted database, easy to use with a focus on automatically filling in username/password combos as well as optional form data. A built-in wizard can create a portable version for you if/when you have a USB stick plugged in with enough free space -- the files are identical to what gets installed to your hard drive, though a couple related to bluetooth are missing, & it relies on an .ini file rather than Windows' registry to store settings [note that going portable you will lose some features]. It's set up to import KeePass, AI Roboform, & Internet Explorer password databases, though more formats from more apps might be possible (depending on the exported format & how you tweaked it). Sticky Password is meant to start with Windows, sitting minimized on your taskbar with most functions accessed from there -- there is a more traditional password mgmt window, but it's much less involved than say KeePass because the app's designed so you don't have to always use it. To access your password database you can set it to accept a master password, &/or a bluetooth or USB device.

Installation adds the program's folder itself [~14 MB, 35 files, 1 folder], Start Menu shortcuts, & by default a folder in My Documents where your password databases are stored. In the registry you'll get 2 program keys, a pair of keys for file name or type association, a key for uninstall, & a couple of new values under HKCU\Software\ASProtect\SpecData. Registry-stored values for System Certificates are also changed. It suggested a few times that I disable Internet Explorer's password storage, & because I chose not to, Sticky Password's Caption Button wasn't added to ie8 -- it's a button added to the title bar to "manage accounts directly from the application / browser window" [quote from the downloaded pdf manual].

Personally after looking it over fairly carefully I think I'll stick with KeePass for my use [keepass.info] [I think it's a bit more secure], but put this on my wife's PC since she's the one always having to log into game sites & such, & there it could be a real time-saver.

Ditto to the majority of comments on LastPass. I even have a paid license to Roboform but I prefer LastPass (6 of one, half a baker's dozen of the other). I bought a new computer when I was traveling this summer and when I installed LastPass I was able to get directly into all of my websites with the info stored on the LastPass server. Warning: since LastPass stores your passwords USE A VERY SECURE PASSWORD ON LASTPASS. Very secure is over 15 chrs including letters numbers and punctuation. No real words.

I just installed Sticky Password, hoping that because it supports Google Chrome, it would also support Iron Browser, but it doesn't. TRAGEDY!

This is a real pity, because Iron is the only browser I use (unless I'm forced to use IE because some stupid site code doesn't work with Iron).

To Petr@Lamantine Software: If you would can add support for Iron browser to your product, I'd be MORE than happy to beta-test that for you!

To those who rant about Sticky Password 'phoning home' and/or the 'insecure' virtual keyboard, if you had LOOKED at the Sticky Password settings before you made your comments, you would find settings right there on the (default!) General settings tab to address BOTH those issues.

Thank you! Thank you! I've been asking for this for almost 2 years now. My prior version got corrupted somehow & wouldn't automatically load at startup. I depend on this program SO much! LastPass is good, too, but I much prefer Sticky Password. The install didn't give me an option as to where to install it, as I wanted it to go into a new directory. So it installed over my old version. I'm wondering, too, if this is OK or should I uninstall everything & re-install this version? PLEASE let us know!! Today! Thanks again! I LOVE this program!!

A majority of the GOTD rating percentages are favorable for today’s GOTD, and a majority of visitor’s comments seem to validate favorability. So I decided to install it this time since between the first time it was offered, and today, I have a bigger stack of post-it notes in a box that’s rapidly becoming too small. After the installation I found the program itself to be a little intimidating. It was mostly because when it opens, all a user see’s is a new button on the menu bar, and another in taskbar. My expectations were that a window would open in the center of my display with a standard menu bar and buttons. To try it out I thought I’d logout of the GOTD forum from this page using the links. In that procedure I received a white page with a 2” x 1” window asking:

(“Do You Really Want To Logoff?). I selected “Yes” then was confronted by an error page (@You do not have sufficient to access this page?)

Well, I didn’t want to access any page, I just wanted to logoff this site. Using the Firefox task menu I hit the homepage button and got back to my personal homepage. I close my browser, started it up again, and came back to GOTD to see if by using Sticky I could log back into the forum. And much to my delight there were no problems at all. Then like a kid in a candy store, I tried it out on some of the web pages I frequent that require a log in. No problems so far, which is pleasantly surprising, and makes it worth recommending.

*An Aside Note; I still don’t know why I had that initial problem, so a little caution is advised (being attentive is a good thing).......

If I have an older version of Sticky Password, do I have to uninstall, or can I just install over the older version? I wish this issue would be addressed at the beginning of the Giveaway. Thanks to GAOTD and Sticky Password.
Also, one user mentioned something about Sticky Password removing the browser passwords after importing. Is there a choice?

Comments like "is it better than LastPass", "I use Roboform, is this better" etc really annoy me.
GAOTD have taken the trouble to get this for you so that you can try it for free. the Developer has given you the software so that you can try it and compare it to any exhisting software you use, THEN you can post a comment on your findings.
At least have the courtesy to try the software, rather than expect everyone else to do it for you!

And for what it's worth, I have tried Lastpass, Keepass, and Roboform, and Sticky Password is without doubt, the best out there.
But please don't take my word for it... TRY IT!

@62: I'm sorry, your answer shows a great lack of security consciousness. As a password manager, Sticky Password has more valuable information directly available to it than any other type of program. Even if we grant that you would not do anything deliberately, your servers could be hacked and malware masquerading as an update distributed to users. Saying the user can block outgoing calls in their own firewall is not satisfactory. Not all versions of Windows include a firewall to block outgoing calls, and your program apparently says that no update is available instead of reporting that it cannot connect. All security programs must offer the user the choice of whether phoning home is allowed and under what conditions. I was going to recommend your program to clients but have decided that I cannot do so.

@ 67 - Cheri, using a password management software in general is better way to go than the current solution you are using. Here are just 2 main reasons: 1)Good password manager offers an integrated password generator. You don´t need to visit any website to generate your strong passwords. 2)Good password manager stores your personal data in an encrypted database. It means nobody else than you can access your passwords and other personal data.
Little bit simplified explanation though.

@ 64 - these are available authorization methods: 1) Master Password, 2) USB device, 3) Bluetooth device, 4) No authorization (which is not recommended). USB & Bluetooth device can be combined with additional PIN authorization for double-layer security. The selected authorization method can be changed anytime in "Settings/Authorization method menu".

I want to use this on my laptop and backup to a flash drive. Then use the laptop version most of the time and have the flash drive to take to other computers. So, how do I answer authorization method?

Help me out here please, I use an online generator at paascode.com and save the passcodes to a windows clipboard utility. This system has worked well for me for a long time, is this program going to be better and if so how? Thanks.

I have used LastPass without any problems for the past year. I believe that you can sync LastPass between computers. Some browsers will automatically save passwords, but when they store that info it is not always encrypted, so you really need to check what you use carefully.

How does this compare with Roboform? I have been using Roboform for years. Why should I change? Please answer.

I like this tool very much, but is there a way to disable its calling home function? I am a bit paranoid about safety and security issues, and I do not like anyone having that kind of access to my computer.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
