I use have grown to really like this program a lot. I downloaded the upgrade and all was well until several days ago. It started pumping out coasters like nobodies business. should I complain when the price is "Free" ?. maybe not but that doesnt mean I have to be happy about it either.

I have grown to really like Starburn quite well...until 2 days ago. I had been running the program with no problems at all. I downloaded this upgrade and it ran like charm...until two days ago. It started pumping out coasters like no ones business. Yes ...I know it's hard to complain when the price is "Free" but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. Back ti ImgBurn.

@#145

I have DVDFab V-5.x and it works fine, even after installing StarBurn. I recommend that you completely uninstall DVDFab, clear out the leftover folders it leaves behind, and reinstall their decrypter (on their free stuff page.) This should get you back in operation again. It won't shrink a movie, but it will decrypt it for you and save it on your computer. From there DVD shrink and almost any burning program will finish the job for you. I prefer Imgburn, but everyone has their own preferences. Best of luck!

I downloaded this program when it came around last time and i use it everyday. It is superior to all the other burning programs ive used, including nero which came with my new lightscribe burner. Its a very useful program.

The problem isn't so much that the program requires an admin account to run, but rather that it needs an admin account to install, and that since the GAOTD setup file automatically registers during install, only the installing account gets registered. This wouldn't be a problem if you purchased the software, as you'd get a registration key and could use it to register other user accounts, including limited ones.

Again, ideally the software would regsiter under HKLM in the Windows registry so that it was registered for the entire machine, regardless of what account is used.

If you intend to use a GOTD with this issue in only one account, and don't want to run it as an admin account, you can look into using the MakeMeAdmin script Aaron Margosis made for XP. It temporary elevates a limited account to an admin account to run something, then drops it back to limited, all without logging out of the account. That way you can install and activate the software with admin privileges, but then run it with limited privileges.

I downloaded this yesterday since my trial of DVDFab (which i Love) expired. I hoped this would be even half as good and it wasn't. I have been unable to get even ONE Dvd made Plus now I can't even use DVDFab's Decrypter anymore. Coincidence? Doubt it. I am Uninstalling this software and now I have to look for Something else to copy my movies so my kids won't destroy the originals. Any Good suggestions?

I'm looking at my 1st dual-layer coaster here. I've never had a bad disc from this LG burner in the year I've been using it. Mostly with Roxio 10 and the free vers of Ashampoo's Burning Studio 6 .. but, I have one now. I already had my dvd files on my hard drive and ready to go so I figured this to be a no-brainer. I've uninstalled it now and will just stick with what's tried.n.true for me.

I'm not disputing anything about the software other than it's a bit odd that it was free directly from the website. I wish that it hadn't been the flavor of the day here though.
