Today Giveaway of the Day
$49.95

Helps you get back all kinds of lost or deleted data on Android devices.

These days spyware, adware and other malicious software programs are everywhere, and it seems almost impossible to stop them. You can be infected just by visiting a website, or by installing a popular software title. Once you are infected with even one of these malicious programs they can download and install even more. In fact, the people that produce spyware and adware pay good money to software developers to distribute their malicious programs.

The more spyware they can get installed on your computer, the more money they make. This software goes above and beyond your typical spyware removal software and actively monitors which programs are running on your computer. If it sees a spyware or adware program trying to start, it will stop it dead in it's tracks.

Nice clean app - even kids could use it!

1 problem tho - depending on your views it's politically INcorrect since it does not include the flag of Israel.

Andrew, Giddaye, I've found that having more than one spy system is OK as long as they don't "RUN" on your system....in other words, you only use them when you decide to.

Running more than one spyware program does not cause any problems, you are confusing spyware with anti-virus and firewalls. Running more than one ant-virus or firewall can cause problems.

It may say "as is" number 137, but it also says in bright big letters, 100% NO SPYWARE! I'm confused. Who do we trust, the software maker or the site providing us with this software that's assuring us it's safe. This product is a joke. And for some reason my comments keep getting removed. Wierd...

#135 do not shout at people by writing whole sentences in capital letters.

You have to educate yourself. Not only you must learn how to behave, you must learn at least something about security.

This offer is unacceptable. First 99.9% it is Rogue... read about it There are many reliable sources as it was pointed above.

I am sure that no serious research was done by GAOTD about this SW.
24 hours is not enough for many unexperienced users to make correct decision about security software (unless that is not from such vendors as a-squared or Malware Bytes, for example).
It is not another video converter was offered.

Scanning and "checking" rogues most likely may not give any detections (especially when it is still new for anti-malware fighters)
The rogue will run perfectly. That is the whole point of it ... but because it will be set by many users as Trusted for other security products they have... the rogue will bring malware & viruses to you computer without any obstacles.
That's how it works, #135, so you should continue or just start you education process.

There is no need to shout and protect GOATD. This is just a very bad offer. Please, guys & girls - do not download it!

Thanks

THIS SOFTWARE PRODUCT IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WITHOUT LIMITATION, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWABLE BY LAW, END USER ASSUMES THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE DOWNLOADED SOFTWARE PRODUCT.

Did you READ it??? “AS IS” means it’s your baby, not GAOTD’s

Slamming the folks @ GAOTD is not realistic. These guys bust their tails for you ungrateful bums to evaluate quality software. You get it free because they hope you complaining bums will return a comment of value … honest, quality response/comment on the software and increased sales for the authors.

To accuse GAOTD of intentional crapware distribution is pointless. Point your flame to the author of the controversy… shoot a couple hundred comments to the authors website; where it belongs.

Team GAOTD Thank you for your hard work.

What is GAOTD's filtering procedure?

Thank you all so much who pointed out the dangers of accepting this GAOTD offering (e.g., #16, #18, #25, #57, #93, #102 et al). I was dumbfounded by the long list of problems, dangers, potential threats, and known deceptions. You guys have saved me numerous times from downloading some dangerous offering from GAOTD. After checking out some of the "warning links" you all listed, it is clear that this is one offering that might not be worth the risk. There are just too many reputable alternatives out there.

I am a fairly new user of GAOTD, and I have mostly greatly satisfied with the cool offerings on here. However, it takes only one or two bogus/dangerous offerings to ruin my overall satisfaction level with this site, and lately, it's gotten seriously damaged.

At present, I would be most hesitant to suggest this site to any friends/colleagues of mine who aren't so terribly computer literatge/skilled, as I'd hate to have them suffer some serious damage as a result of downloading some offering from GAOTD, only to have it "infect" their system somehow.

What I am curious about is, what is the qualification and filtering process GAOTD uses to determine who gets to offer their wares to us over this site? Does GAOTD do any due diligence? Are they possibly a front for (or in cahoots with) those companies and individuals who offer us dangerous software? Can anyone make it to the offering stage, regardless of their credibility, reputations, number of criminal convictions, etc. if they pay enough through the back door? Also, what does GAOTD do when we all identify something as predominantly dangerous/undesirable? Does the offering still make it's way into the "previously offered" list, with no warnings in the brief description?

What *is* the exact procedure GAOTD uses to filter out the bad from the good? Does GAOTD list their "procedures and policies" anywhere on their site? If so, I can't find them.

In addition to a new rating system, I'd love to see a "filter score" or "safety/reliability factor" rating from GAOTD themselves for each offering. I know this can be difficult, but we could all help with the process, and I'm sure we'd all be better off for it.

Suggestion for New Users Like Me: Read all the comments posted. Many of these people are very educated on what's risky and what's not. If you find more than three red flags, with others backing them up, then run like h___. Wait for another day.

Dempsey

108. Eset Smart Security is outstanding and well as Eset Nod32. I've seen it's virus definitions update up to five times in one day and updates are almost every day.

Spyware Remover detected 126 tracking cookies on my system. Two of them were Giveaway of the Day and Game Giveaway of the day as well as other sites that I doubt are tracking sites. It did detect sites that were tracking sites. Guess a whitelist has to be setup.

Just a note here: scanning giveaways downloaded from this site is absolutely pointless. The installers embedded in the activation app is encrypted, so antivirus software can't properly scan it. It's more likely to pick up a false positive with a scan than not scanning it. However, giveaways with Activate.exe alongside with Setup.exe should scan fine (scan the setup, not the activate).

There is a risk of running or even installing multiple anti-spyware programs. I've had to fix a few computers that would no longer boot because spygrabber conflicted with another anti-spy program. That is not to say that would happen with spyware remover, but there is a risk of corrupting the MBR or bootloader. Forutnalty we were able to use recovery console to roll back to the last working configuration. In all cases though, the computers failed to boot right after installing the anti-spy.

Well I recently got infected with malware, and I tried the full barrage of anti-spyware tools, all of which were less than useless.
Latest Avast could not kill it, nor any of the other well known free ones.
I then found Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. It got rid of it first go.

I have now got rid of the others and gratefully use this freeware, because it actually works. Malwarebyte's is the best I have ever used, but I am no expert, so would be interested in the opinions of those more knowledgeable in this are than myself.

As far as this giveaway? Thanks, but no thanks.

Regarding #104 - stay far away from Advanced Windows Care. They have the free personal version and the Pro version, which is sometimes offered here. It WILL destroy your internet connection if used. Many people have used it and have had to either use system restore or format their entire system to get the internet going again.

Avoid this.
This does not look real. It does have a database, but it contains just a bunch of checksums (this isn't reliable).
Testimonials on the site look fake, they refer to a known rogue antispyware ContraVirusPro.
As I can read russian, I decided to visit that russian site (without /en/). It is about an entirely different product which claims to increase internet speed. Russian site of this product (spyware remover) is www.antispy.afnsoft.com. Russian version uses the very same database file, entirely different interface and registration. (see here and here). It asks you to send a 2$ SMS message to register.

Btw, all previous product pages were removed from the server.

Strangely, AFN website wouldn't come up at all for me. So far, I've been unable to find any data regarding this program's effectiveness, etc either.

I would like to know much more about this program, such as info on the malware database they use, etc.

I probably will give the prog a try, seeing as how virus total had only one hit and the rest clean scans on it

Well , It is interesting to note, (at least to me), that I tried to post a message earlier about what some people were suggesting. That software from 2 certain countries seem to have been causing most of the problems lately.

I guess because I had the absolute audacity to mention the countries names that my post didn't just get censored, it didn't even get by moderation and get posted at all.

Guess they have their hands in more than just bogus software here. It seems they are administering policy at this site to stifle ones speech.

See if this post slips by. If it does I would really like to hear other views on this.
Thanks

about multiple scans everyone is saying about it is good to have like 3 on your computer plus you can set the times for it to scan and choose what folders to scan or exclude in most of them so yeah u can have them running continuasly at the same time just set the times and folders simple just set the scanners as an excluded file in each one cause sometimes thats what conflicts to

Installed. Very unsophisticated UI. Scanned, found 5 tracking cookies, did NOT remove them properly, then froze in the background and system tray and would not maximize. There are much more effective spyware removers on the internet for absolutely no cost.

Spybot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

Google offers a free version of Spyware Doctor

Spyware terminator http://www.spywareterminator.com/download/download.aspx

I've tried all three they are effective and completely costless.

As for this giveaway, it is not an effective program and honestly is not at all worth $29.00

Renegade at #82:

If you'd put your brain in gear before submitting that lo-o-nng defence of the indefensible, you'd have realised that a website which only came into being earlier this year did remarkably well to pull in so many "testimonials" in so short a time.

It even had endorsements for stuff it was shoving onto GOTD in February. Miracle, huh?

Or perhaps not. Perhaps the truth is that all these "testimonials" are as phony as the rest of the text on this publisher's site.

As for your reference to "company profile" on CNet: well, so what? The "company" wrote that stuff itself. And truly priceless it is:

Our company are specified on Shareware development. We were born in November, 2007. But already for such short time our products enjoy the big popularity at users. AFN Software Labs produces software for: * Home users * Internet users * Web design * Software Developers

Well of course it's all genuine, Renegade.

S-T-R-I-K-E... T-W-O-!

I've downloaded many nice programs from GAOTD in the past including anti-malware programs (a-squared). While two I am very dissapointed that they have elected to distribute two programs back-to-back containing malware. I must thank all the other people who have commented on this and other programs, I have found many other very good freeware alternative programs that do the job I am looking for. I am a firm believer in Freeware. I usually wait until the end of the day before installing anything as others usually have found out.

In addition to the programs listed by #50, I also use

Spyware Blaster (Immunization only) and
Advanced Windows Care - Personal Edition (Has an anti-spyware component but not frequently as updated as those in #50)

On another note, I am also interested in ratings by:

1. Usefulness/Wanted

2. Did you install and how did it perform (5 or 10 point scale)

I don't mind one converter a week (gives those a chance who didn't get one earlier and just found the site), but a nice spread of other software would be nice too.

GATOD, thanks for wonderful programs of the past, but, please don't turn to the dark side of malware.
