On July 18, 2007, Bladed Thoth found this application HAZARDOUS. I have emphasized his findings below:

"The memory footprint of this application is rather hefty. Just launching the application, this application sits at a bit over 30MB memory usage; A significant amount of memory on a 512MB system and even a good chunk with a system with 1GB, especially if you use it all in PhotoShop. The memory usage doesn’t stop there.

I noticed as soon as I launched the recording feature, the memory usage shot up to around 36MB usage, and every screenshot after that it climbed approximately 6MB more until it hit a bit over 60MB, when then it would seem to ‘purge’ itself (I’m assuming dumping the images) and drop back down to 36MB. It would continue this loop until I stopped recording; The memory amounts aren’t always the same; I’m assuming it is based on the raw screendump each time and its size.

This could be very HAZARDOUS on a system nearing the end of physical memory and nearing swap file usage and could cause some significant system slow-ups (I can picture issues with PhotoShop becoming a lot less responsive with large files.)"

Yeah, I guess I'll stick to TimeSnapper (www.timesnapper.com) which uses far less memory and has a lot more functionality... this looks like a cheap knock-off

There's a serious and obvious bug in the playback--it drops the leading zero when the minutes are less than 10, and the way it sorts causes those captures to be displayed out-of-order. Since this occurs for 1/6 of every hour, I would have expected the developer to notice. At the resolution I run at, some full-screen captures exceeded 1.7 MB (decimal).

For manual screen/window/area captures, I recommend Gadwin PrintScreen (free; you have to pay for the Pro version). Use Downloads to get it.

For webcams, I recommend Active WebCam. It can get expensive, depending upon how many features you want, but you can download an almost fully-functional trial version that has very generous time restrictions. Use Downloads to get it.

I'm having trouble opening the program after the first run. I exit out to remove it from the tray and when I double click to reopen, it doesn't. I get no error message, it just doesn't run.

The first runs I've done, though, are great.

For those of you who think that using this on your kids is wrong...well I hate to see what your kids are upto or into. As far as I am concerned until the kids are age 18, I am fully responsible both moral and legally(financial also) for my kids and keeping track of what they do on the internet is just one of the many things that are required of being a good parent. Yes trusting your child is a nice thing, but there is a reason for a parent being responsible for them and that is they are just children and will make mistakes and wrong choices that we as adults already made and hopefully will stop them from making(at least while they are under our care) So just as a spy program to watch thekids i think this is worth it.

I like using Irfanview to capture. btw, don't forget that alt-PrintScreen makes an on-demand screen capture (paste into Irfanview, MSPaint, GIMP, whatever...) or Irfanview capture on demand (default: Ctrl-F11 when Irfanview is open). Irfanview does capture Whole Desktop, Foreground window, or foreground window - Client area, with option to capture mouse cursor.

if you want a movie, you can use
http://makeavi.sourceforge.net/ (jpg->avi)

If you want webcam capture with timestamps: http://dorgem.sourceforge.net/

If you want webcam capture without timestamps:

To all the "caring" parents who say they'll use this to "check up" on their kids:
What do you suppose they've been up to while you cheapskates waited for a free program to misuse on them?

I've installed this on my current laptop. I'm awaiting arrival of a new laptop later this week. After activating it says "Registered to giveawayoftheday" on the about page. How do I migrate it my new laptop when it arrives?

Otherwise looks like a very handy little application that prevents me from fooling myself about how I'm spending my tim
