smartwhois is a whois look-up. Enter a name. Click. And that's it. dnsstuff mentioned here doesn't provide the same amount of whois info. Bluetack isn't a one-click whois look-up either.

Be good if posters could try to compare like with like. Thank Gawd for Charlie's post: do a look-up in smartwhois, then do a whois look up in domaintools.com.

The difference is. . . $29.

First, thank you for the work that is done here. I will be spreading the word, and in fact the word has been spread via our blog.
This program does work as far as getting some contact info for a particular addy, however I found it to be a bit to simplified for my taste. There is a program called Sam Spade that gets much more involved as far as network identity, and most firewalls, (free or paid for), also get much more in depth with the information, and suggestions.
But if you are just looking for a simple id, this program will work for you.

Hmm, $29 for this?? I installed it to check it out, but honestly a company that charges for such a simple service that is readily available (and more) free of charge all over the net turns me off. I won't support such a greedy company and will uninstall this proggie before the day is out. It's really no more convenient than www.domaintools.com (only one of numerous sites) which gives more info for free.

Sorry to give a negative review but I guess ya'll are looking for feedback right?

Have a nice day!

To number 10 Toilet Duck:

Read the notes above the comments. It does say there are no free upgrades to future versions. That is once the give away of the days time is up, so if they just so happened to bring out a new version today, you'd get your free update, however you can count this free software as having been had for 364 and a quarter days, so the warrantry is up tomorrow. You'll have to pay extra to upgrade it in the future. I hope this helps and sorry if I sound a little condacsending; I don't mean to. Just trying to be helpful.
