TS-AudioToMidi, free or shareware, are both very good. I just d/led them and compared with this Sloud program. Sloud output is cacophonous, unrecognizable. TS-AudioToMidi WORKS! Both versions work well, read the help file and just play. I know little about audio and got the oscar meyer wiener song converted in about 5 minutes. Little kid from TV commercial input, bassoon output. Don't laugh. I like it. Shareware has a few more bells and whistles (literally) is all. See TK, #68 for info and links.

Also, shareware site has midi-to-wav and editing programs/links as requested by several folks above.

The big problem with this software is it doesn't accurately do what it claims: it cannot accurately convert the voice to midi. I carefully read all the instructions onsite, and made sure I didn't use words or 'la-la's', and then aahed and doo-dooed my way through Jingle Bells. The midi playback was almost completely unrecognisable, and I know my pitching isn't that bad, especially for a simple song like Jingle Bells. I also tried using both Play Midi Notes and Play Raw Notes buttons for playback. Play Raw Notes got the worst result.

This is the kind of software I would have loved for music composition in a sequencer, but my experience with Sloud makes me believe that it will not be helpful at all for doing this.

The idea for this software is very cool. If it is refined to be reliable under normal conditions I would love to see it here again. As it is now, I have to input and edit, and it is like first generation speech recognition programs, not close enough in understanding what I want to be truly useful. But, as always, thanks GoTD and developers! I really do hope to see a more accurate version of this software some day.

#18. Thanks so much for the recommended freeware. I have been looking for something like this for the past few years.

#42. Thanks for the 15 minute review. I have to agree with you 100% percent.

I downloaded and installed the program hoping that I can convert some songs into MIDI file. Let me confirm here that it does not work. I understand that vocal sound in the WAV file will not convert, but I was trying to convert the beginning of a song which was piano solo and it came out crappy. This program fails to recognize the correctly note and let me tell you, it is not even close!! Therefore, I couldn't even try to edit the piece of junk after the conversion.

If you just want some fun tool to record your voice through mic for a good laugh, enjoy. If you are serious about music, this software may get you steaming in no time, because it will turn your favorite tunes into absolute garbage.
