I don't understand the need for this. Microsoft Word, in fact the entire Office suite, has a free plug-in from the MS site that does this. It is free, too. In fact, a lot of the packages have the plug-in already installed. If use use the older versions of Word, I can understand, but unnecessary with 2007 and 2010.

#16 and #30 Let anyone tell anything about the software. Why do you go and attack someone's comment about software. Don't you think people have their right to tell anything they want about the software? Criticizing someone about their point of view about the software is violating their rights to comment. This site is not to put down on people's commenting behaviour of new software. This site is to comment on about the software only. Doesn't matter how deep you analyse or what angle you analyse about the software as long as you comment about software you are doing a great job. I am only interested in the feature of converting hyperlinks--ones with keywords, not just a URL. Does this or Open Office do this?

@11 I use an older version of Primo and have created clickable links in the pdf.

Another thing. I hate it that every silly utility creates its own subfolder in My Documents and makes it its default output folder. I really don't want the output there. Why on Earth would I want to? I want the PDF created in the same folder as the original .DOC file of course and if I want it anywhere else I'll tell the software of move the file. So I want at least a button or check box that selects the output folder as being the same as the input document's folder. No..... I tell a lie. I want at least that when I use the output browse button to manually browse all the way to that original folder that the PDF file is ACTUALLY placed there and NOT STILL in the default 'Simpo Word to PDF' subfolder of My Documents which to my utter surprise this software VERY ANNOYINGLY does.

@16...This program is a WORD to PDF program so Microsoft Word is required to "appreciate" it. Your analogy regarding Apple Macs makes no sense at all (big surprise). A program that crreates a virtual printer that is unusable obviously needs some work...especially if it wants to compete with PDF converters already available since "wayyyy back when". Get a clue and quit wasting time/space with your personal rants. It's obvious that you don't even try the software out and that you're just trying irritate certain people.

I had to try this software, so the first thing I converted was a formula sheet I made for one of my classes. Equations do not convert well. Just an FYI!

I'm confused. In Word 2007 I can "Save As" PDF right out of the box. Why the heck would I need this product?

Is there any way to convert pdf's to word?

Although I use MS Word 2007 to convert Word to PDF, Simpo Word to PDF retains high quality image (photo). I just compared my MS Word 2007 conversion to PDF vs. Simpo Word to PDF at 100%, 200% & 400% and the photo quality at 200% and beyond was amazing with Simpo but MS Word conversion became blurry at 200% and very blurry at 400%. Just my two cents.

Today's bad list is just right, actually if you're using Word 2007 or above you don't need this at all because since SP2, Word 2007 is already fully capable of saving its document to PDF or XPS format. Unjustified? Why is it unjustified, you have to fully explain before attacking someone, otherwise it will be just nothing more than marking yourself a simple worthless internet troll.
"Word to PDF" will usually mean "I can convert Word documents to PDF without you having Microsoft Word installed", so that is a good point. Definitely YOU NEED TO SURF OUT OF THIS SITE FOR THIS VERDICT. Search google for "word to pdf converter", ANY CONVERTER WILL NOT REQUIRE MICROSOFT WORD ALREADY INSTALLED ON SYSTEM. Of course you could point out Word 2003 or below but as I have mentioned above other converter programs DO NOT USUALLY REQUIRE Word installed.
Requiring Open XML Compatibility pack for Word 2003 is a joke too, it this program claims to be a "converter", it would have to build that function in already, since Open XML is quite transparantly opened up for anyone.

Moreover Ashraf doesn't complain about installing a printer driver. He complains that this program installs a printer driver but the printer driver DOES NOT DO ANYTHING DURING CONVERSION. Are you even reading his comment? I doubt so. You're just a troll just aims to screw Ashraf anyway. WHAT IS THE PROFIT BY DOING SO?

I have Simpo PDF Creator (full-featured, upgraded version of today's Giveaway), so I have no need to download today's offer. That said, I can vouch for (and verify) what Ashraf smartly pointed out - that Simpo's virtual-printing feature does not work, and shame on Simpo for providing a non-working feature to its customers.

By the way, I have the Nitro PDF Professional program (that I bought on a certain well-known auction site for a very reasonable price), and it is excellent and much better than Adobe Acrobat or Simpo PDF Creator, in my humble opinion.

It does indeed convert .DOCX files. And it works with Hebrew text.

The only thing I have noted is that some files do not get converted at all.

Criticizing today’s GOTD because it requires Microsoft Office in order to appreciate it is like saying an Apple Macintosh is bad because it doesn’t use a windows operation system. And creating PDF’s out of .DOCX (which by the way is the file format used in Word 2007) can be converted as easily as turning on a PC. Furthermore, creating a virtual printer is something that’s been a part of how Adobe PDF conversion programs have worked since wayyyy back when.

If you don't have Word 2007 or above, this program can accurately convert all hyperlinks, whether image or text, so it's worth downloading.

Not needed for Word 2007. It has it's own ability to save as a PDF. Even keeps the hyperlinks active.

Why do you need this program.

Open or create a document
Then save the document as a pdf document

Nice app but the limitations outweigh its pluses. What do I want with in install (of a virtual printer)that does nothing? A useless install. I'm glad for these reviews. The free alternatives, if I ever feel a need to convert Word Documents to PDFs, seem more than adequate. If an IT manager of a Bank finds a freeware program, Cute PDF, to be more efficacious, that sounds like high praise.

I use primo which was a previous giveaway. Someone mentions that Simpo can handle hyperlinks. I am interested in that feature. Does anyone know if primo can handle hyperlinks - in other words that you can click on the hyperlink in the pdf document and it will bring you to the relevant webpage???

FYI. Right out of the box MS Word 2007, MS Excel 2007, MS Visio 2007, etc already have the ability to save from any of their native file formats to PDF format.

This, of course means that if you already have Word 2007, you "simply" don't need to install "Simpo" Word to PDF on your computer.
If you're still using earlier versions of MS Word or even just freeware MS Word Readers, you have the no-cost option to download, install and use "Cute PDF" at ANY time on ANY day and on as many MS Windows computers as you need to create PDF versions of ANY files that have a print option.

Best of all, Cute PDF is not only licensed as freeware for personal use, but it is also free for unlimited COMMERCIAL use.
As an IT manager for a bank with fifteen branches, I have installed and supported "Cute PDF" on all of our workstations for over four years, and to date this little freeware gem has not caused us a single support issue.

I already have (at least) three utilities installed that have created virtual printers capable of capturing Word's (and other application's) output and converting it to PDF or other formats. Because this claims to be specifically designed to preserve Word layout (better than other utilities?) I thought I'd install it. I consider printing to such a virtual printer the most convenient way to convert to PDF for the user who occasionally wants to do so. Unfortunately the Simpo virtual printer is not capable of capturing the Word output and launching the conversion software which is pretty weak IMHO. Every other virtual printer I have ever encountered was actually capable of redirecting the printer output. The fact this software cannot do so makes me seriously question its other capabilities and whether it'll work any better than the PDF converters I already have installed.

Word to pdf--not diffcult to preserve layouts, whereas pdf to word is difficult.
