@85 -Jaz

Sure it does - To securely delete files in CCleaner - click on the 'Options' button, then 'Settings' then the Secure Deletion options are shown.
Select 'Secure File Deletion' and the methods can be selected from the drop down box (from 1 Pass, to 35 Pass Overwrites)

Hope that Helps you,

Based on some of the comments here I downloaded and ran CCcleaner. I sure wish I had downloaded the GOTD instead.

CCcleaner will not scrub erased files to render them unrecoverable. And yes, there are legitimate reasons you would want a program that does this.

#79, americanineu, you might take a look at PortableApps (free), MojoPac (available free, but the paid version is the secure version, XP only), and Ceedo (Personal with Argo, and Personal Beta, commercial). The only one I've tried is Ceedo, it worked but was painfully slow. Obviously, the PC will need a USB 2.0 port. These will generally work from USB 2.0 flash drives, as well as USB 2.0 devices which Windows recognizes as USB drives, including external hard drives, iPods, some MP3 players, some cell phones, etc.

ya. just another program preying on the fear of people and trying to eploit that fear. as for "scrubbing" the recycle bin... theres eraser which is open source. but usually theres always outstanding free alternatives to junk like this as well as erasers and such. as was given away here before, such as glary utilities.

Does anyone know of a program similar to this or Window Washer, etc that is capable of being entirely 100% portable? That is, I'm in the military and in Iraq. We use public computers here and while I don't look at anything illegal, I am married and do look at a few things that I would call *private*. Is there a cleaner program like this I can run entirely from a stick that will clean the public computers history? (the public computers don't allow direct access to the appropriate folders obviously, but perhaps a good program like this could get them depending on how the Admin set it up- worth a shot) Thanks to everyone who leaves good detailed feedback every day, having limited time and bandwidth here, you make my life a lot easier!
