Did you bother reading the rest of my sentence. You were pretty quick to quote part of my sentence, but what I was saying was even if a website didn't have a copyright notice on their website, that there's a chance it could be material that was copied from another website and it's STILL not legal to use it. I did not intend that post to be the bible of copyright infringement. It was just reply to post #24.

Actually, if you read my first post (#15), I stated that there are people out there making money by suing other people for using their copyrighted images which was confirmed by MrRoadRage (#78). Phil (#24) was commenting on my post (#15) to which I replied (#59). Phil then turned around his opinion 180 degrees as stated in post (#37) Why aren't you bashing Phil instead? FO.

Oh brother - the fact that this horrible POS got 2-1 "thumbs up" goes to show you the quality and credibility of the "reviewers" here. Trust me folks - this app is terrible - one of the worst ever offered - and there are free alternatives that are much better.

Handy for routing pics to yourself from one computer to another as attachments via same or different email accounts.
Versatile and quick photo editing tools once you get the hang of it.

Unless a site informs you that everything within that site is copyright protected then you can use anything in their site for your own gains as long as you don’t imply that the work is originally yours. To sue for plagiarism is much easier than sueing for copyright violations across state and country lines. The internet is a source that one pays for to gather information, so unless a site lists its self as being protected before letting you enter, or you fail to add an ever so tiny disclaimer that some of the work within your site isn’t your own you can copy anything you find.

MY REPLY:

I am part of a nationwide real estate networking group, and everyone in the group blogs. We have dealt with this issue and some of the senior members organized an online meeting for us to discuss copyright issues concerning images. You will want to read this...

Bottom line is this, if I create an image and put it online, it is automatically copyrighted and I can sue anyone for using it. Attorneys joined us online for our meeting and confirmed this. We were told..."if you didn't create it, or take the picture yourself, DO NOT use it unless you have written permission."

The problem is this...there seems to be a large number of people who now make their living by posting unmarked (in terms of copyright notice) images and embedding traceable codes, then wait for the images to show up, then track down the offender and sue them for rather large sums of money.

One of the Realtors in our group has a huge problem with other Realtors stealing her images, and she aggressively goes after them. The more they fight her, the higher the amount. She is usually willing to settle for $3000-$5000 dollars, but one fee was close to $40,000 for violating her copyright.

This is not a game to be played, as those who are making a living at this are very serious, and there is a lot of people playing this game on the web. BE VERY CAREFUL.
