Fubar: You give yourself far too much credit for influencing other people and their opinions.I rarely comment because I don't need the stress of people who can't be civil to each other. As for the screensaver: It pleased my grandchildren.

That polar bear pulling the sleigh looks tired and worn and abused. There is no way looking at this picture could ever brighten my day!

I briefly considered running this. The comments suggest to me that it's no great deal , so I didn't. It's not the sort of software I'd use on any other day, as it happens. But it's Christmas and we do silly things.
However, I don't see why wallpaper or screensavers shouldn't be featured here for those who want them. There are lots of niche items on GAOTD. And in the 365 days of the year I consider myself lucky if I find a dozen things I want or need - which is how it should be.
I don't post abusive flames - but I do think that those who post destructive or insulting comments because something is not to their taste need to have a good hard look at themelves.
If the software doesn't do what it claims, say so. If there are popular freeware or open source items that do a better job, say so.
If their cover price is massively excessive, say so.
And if it's good stuff and well worth the paid price, say that too. After all it's here to promote sales.
But if you just don't like that kind of thing, well tough.

Win XP Pro SP3, Quad Core, 3.5 TB. Tried 3 separate downloads and 3 different ways to install. Received message in system tray that wallpaper was running. However, there was no image on my monitor (stretched or otherwise. Used a system analyzing software and did not note anything other than the checksum did not match. Not sure what that means, but the numbers were wrong and did not match. I am not too knowledgeable in this analyzing field. Just can observe when something does not match. Hope this helpful. Am truly sorry that I cannot get this to work, especially during the holidays. It truly looks cute and would decorate the monitor. To GAOTD and DeskTop Paints, thank you for the offering though. Merry Christmas to all!!!!

Works well and smoothly. However, it seems to be problematic with the labels of icons on the desktop.

My other comment about the incorrect shortcut is still in moderation as I write this. To clarify, the installer made a "Santa's Elves Animated Wallpaper" folder in the Start menu, but incorrectly labeled the shortcut "Fantasy Clock Animated Wallpaper". That's a problem, because we've already been given "Fantasy Clock Animated Wallpaper".

3Planesoft just released a second new Christmas 3D screensaver and animated wallpaper this week, "Christmas Evening 3D", which cleverly combines elements of some of their better screensavers.

Just wanted to thank the Santas at GAOTD for your efforts to put together gifts for us every day
...and for putting up with the grumblings from some readers.
Whether we like or don't like a particular gift, it's ultimately the thought that counts.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, the Winter Solstice and/or the New Year, may you all enjoy the spirit of the season!

I mistakenly thought this was a screensaver, but it's wallpaper. I downloaded it and installed it and its very cool looking, however I won't use it, I don't like a 'busy' wallpaper, and it seems to lag down my computer. I do like it despite its limitations noted above.

Installed it twice--Norton 360 removed it as "suspicious" both times. Weird...but don't think I'll argue with Norton for a screensaver that comes out on Christmas Eve--after tomorrow it'll be a year until I want something "Chrismassy" again. Rather poor timing for a Christmas screensaver giveaway. Worth the price I paid.

I don't use many screensavers but they are fun sometimes. Why people attack any time there is screensavers is beyond me. When they attack fubar that is beyond me as well.

fubar thanks for the excellent comments you have on a wide variety of products offered here. You take the time to try them and then offer up what you have discovered.

I value what you do here and I hope you continue to do so.

Merry Christmas to you fubar and a Happy New Year !

#13. I voted (Thumbs down), as soon as I saw today’s offer, because I cannot see any point whatsoever in screensavers.

They are a waste of space and system resources, serving no purpose. If you are using your computer you won’t see it, and if you are not, then it doesn’t matter. My computer is on 24 hours a day, and if I’m not looking at it the screen is black.

Time and time again screensavers appear here on GOTD, with the same result.

Perhaps 1 in 10 people DO like them, but the majority don’t, presumably – like me – voting accordingly.

This is MY OPINION. I have the right to my opinion, and do not expect to be called a moron, or a ‘saddo’ any more than I would have felt the need to address you in a similar vein.

I politely suggest that you jump off your high horse, and look for some more toys to throw out of your pram! Happy Christmas!

I think Fubar might have the Christmas blues :(
Chin-up for another great Giveaway.

Thanks to Giveaway of the Day, my love of great screensavers is renewed. There was a day when these were very popular with computer owners. The monitor power button is not a new invention, and we could always just turn the monitor off - but screensavers are so much more cool. This one is fun and looks great.

Thanks, and merry Christmas to all!!!

#2, sukibabe, if you extracted and ran Setup.exe, unless GOTD changed the installer, DesktopPaints incorrectly installed this as "Fantasy Clock Animated Wallpaper". When it's running, it shows up in your system notification area (tray).

The program didn't automatically show up. I had to search in the program files directory to find it.

The animation is simple, consisting mostly of a snow effect over a picture. One elf waves and a wand glows, but that's about it.

Nowadays, any desktop should be designed to allow for widescreen monitors. Stretching is possible but it distorts the picture.

I can't seriously believe anyone would expect to get any money for this. It's too simple. At best it's a 99 cent application. Desktops should be bundled so that someone can select the one they like.

@ #4. Fubar: At the time of writing this, there are more than 20 hours left of today's giveaway and according to the number of votes registered, 307 people have downloaded, installed and run today's offer, 55 of whom (18%) like it but 252 (82%) don't.

Yeah. Right.

The "user vote" thumbs up / thumbs down facility is so systematically abused as to be a waste of space -- 'waste of space' also being the description for all the saddos (of whom there are many) who come to GAOTD in furtherance of their delusions of adequacy, either to be first to post or vote down software they haven't tried or comments they feel like denigrating.

As most GAOTD users long since ceased to care what the morons out there do to both the thumbs ratings and the 'did you find this comment useful, yes/no' then there's no need for you to bother, either: you've never hidden behind the anonymity of thumbs voting and your comments have always been constructive and well argued.

Neither the thumbs votes nor the comments usefulness yes/no mean a damn thing here. Only the software.

On which note, today's is not one I would've bothered with but right now I have a house full of family including a three year old who has just giggled with delight at my computer screen as Desk Top Paints' eleves go about their work.

Many thanks, then, GAOTD, and Desk Top Paints. THUMBS UP.

Downloaded cleanly. No hijacking of Home page or any bugging toolbars. Small software (~3.5MB after installation) with not much of options for playing around. Options to start along with the windows startup, stretch the wallpaper to fit the screen, hide desktop icons are some. Option to download more wallpapers from the internet, though they are demo versions. The app runs in the background (accessible from the notification area of the taskbar). The only flip side of this app is the fact that it takes up quite an amount of memory to execute (~45MB).

For all those who had blindly rated down the product without using, try downloading a similar animated Christmas wallpaper from the internet at this time of the year without getting a virus or an attached malware.

It is a neat and simple application worth keeping, at least for the duration of Christmas.

I believe this would have been better received had it been coupled with another giveaway, thus being perceived as a cool bonus. Wallpaper and screensavers are always voted down since we mostly hope for more practical software. That being said, it is cute but it's too difficult to manipulate the icons on my desktop. The other winter animated desktop given away a few days ago allowed me to do move and open icons with ease. My wife and toddler will enjoy it.
Thanks for the Christmas present Desktop Paints. I would be interested in trying your DP Animation Maker seen HERE since it makes gifs.

Isn't satisfactory with dual monitors. (W7) Controls only allow the picture to be stretched/distorted across both monitors or centered on the crack between the monitors.

Otherwise, cute.

HoHoHo... installed & working on XP SP3.

Like the snow, the rest is a something like.. boring.
Icons on desktop have a grey / black blackground around them and the writting (I thought nowdays the rendering problem would be resolved, not like the old ones).
Also right-cliking desktop stops the wallpaper.

Nice to get a little Christmas spirit, but i think it could be more attractive with more movement.

This is a simple animated wallpaper. Like most DesktopPaints products, it takes essentially zero CPU on my PC. Ever since my other monitor croaked, I haven't been able to test multi-monitor configurations, but DesktopPaints generally does a poor job of handling them. Since people are always trying to blame performance issues on the product, I've decided to list the standard performance index which Microsoft provides with all modern versions of Windows. My Windows Experience Index is 6.8, limited by my aging graphics card.

3Planesoft recently released a new screensaver / animated wallpaper, White Christmas 3D. I don't use their animated wallpaper modes because they turn off Aero, and their products generally use a fair amount of CPU/GPU.

I did some simple testing the other day. The vote manipulator is totally obsessed with my comment votes, to the point of being mentally ill. While I'm off living a normal life, they sit by their computer all day, downvoting my comments anytime anyone gives them a thumbs-up. They're wasting all of that time and energy for nothing. I don't know them, I don't think about them, but they're totally obsessed with me. I could program my PC to nullify them on my comments, but that's a waste of my time, I have much more important things to do. I manually kicked their behind last time, but that's also a waste of my time. It's long past time for GOTD to fix the voting so that it's much harder to manipulate, or get rid of it. You should assume that votes are being manipulated. It's also the fault of all of you who don't vote on comments, and if you've tested the product, voted on it. If most people voted, it would overwhelm most vote manipulators.

Whoops, not usually on this side...

This wallpaper did not show up in my display! Running Windows XP. Did a search and found 4 files, 2 zipped and 2 unzipped, but still no wallpaper!

Was willing to give it a try since Desktop Paints sounds familiar, but not this way...
