I downloaded this software and ended up removing it the very next day.

I am quite aware after many years computing and several years online that software works great for some, mediocre for others, and not at all for the 'chosen few,' like me, depending on what hardware and systems you're running.

I'm running an SVOA Computer purchased in Thailand, Operating System:	Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2 Processor: Intel Pentium 4 506J @ 2666 MHz, Physical Memory: 512 MB (2 x 256 DDR-SDRAM), Video Card:VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP, Hard Disk: HDS728080PLAT20 (82 GB), and Network Card: VT82C570 MV IDE Controller VT6102 Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter.

For me, this program was extremely invasive, time-consuming, and jammed up many of my new downloads, sometimes ending in a system crash.

Uh, uh...not for me thank you!

Hi Folks,

#33 Well-Oiled PC gives his disinformation simply because he can make $$ if you buy Norton from him. His attempt to disparage other excellent products that have a free edition like Avira and Online Armor and dozens of others is simply greed. He actually should be reported to Norton if he keeps this up, so that they can be pressured to pull his affiliate license, since his shilling does them more harm than good. Norton-Symantec has actually made some efforts the last year or two after getting a reputation for dysfunctional bloatware that clogs up your system, so they need to be informed about the Well-Oiled shenanigans, if he keeps using these forums to shill and make stupid and outrageous comments about excellent software.

Shalom,
Steven Avery

Due to problems noted above, I am passing on this program. Probably just as well since I am happy with Zone Alarm Security Suite and this one is not likely to play well with ZASS. FWIW I have discovered through trial and error that it is OK to have another security program as long as it only runs on demand, such as the free versions of Malware Bytes, Ad-Aware and Spyware Doctor, all of which I use and recommend because each finds stuff the others don't always get. I have tried several others, but these get the job done with the least amount of hassles IMHO.

Today's software is not primarily an antivirus, though it does contain an heuristic scanner; it is an Intrusion Detection/Prevention System. From reading the user's manual, it seems it takes a complete initial reading of your system settings; after that as each application starts, you are asked to allow/disallow -- default with no input is to block that program. Not meant to replace AV, firewall, malware scanners, etc., but an adjunct. From what I've read, seems a good IDS might be useful.

Re #33 "DO NOT use Freeware"... A program should be judged on its merits, not its price. Almost too obvious, but: there are gems in freeware and low quality in paid programs. And junk freeware and high quality paid software.

Well, someone saitd this was one of the weakest sets of commentts and I tend to agree. First off, though you must be careful of free antivirus and protection programs the three top firewalls are free, one of the top rated antivirus and several top rated anti malware programs are free. I've successfully run more than one antivirus programs (some play well together some don't).Though i agree with the one firewall policy, i also run a seperate memory firewall from comodo. you and I may both have XP but between the different types of xp and the different types of computers, what works for one may not work for another, so there is no reason for these angry people who just want to hate and get upset over price when we are not paying anything. And if your number one rule is no freeware.....why are you here anyway????????
But on to the safe and sec,i haven't yet installed it and am about to.Just felt the need to rant for a moment. in 06 I bought their intrusion detection and it watched for suspicious programs and after the learning period and dealing with a fairly reasonable amount of false positives, and daily updates(sometimes more than one. It was fairly configurable and it worked great. As for the firewall and virus definitions...i can't say. but I'm going to test it out since it was a good program for me.
Have a great night all!

#33 You do not get a lot of business do you? Or do you suggest using Norton to ensure that you will have customers? j/k

I personally find the combo of AVG, Zone Alarm & Spybot S&D to be just as good if not better than this suit. Although I do not agree with avoiding all free programs, (which all above happen to be) I will go along with using well known and rated products. I'm going to wait for this one to pack a little more punch.

Sorry, I'll play the dummy today! I can't even figure out exactly what this is, is like or does. I've never heard of it or this company before today & I could find little info on either on line.
I'm good on security but have no problems with Russian companies. I used KIS for a year & stayed clean. Now I'm with ESET & happy with it so thanks for the offer but it's not for me.
