This program can be also used to enhance background outdoor scene by removing unnecessary objects from a photo. This photo retouching software allows you to change form as well. Retouch Pilot can be used as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop or another compatible program.

I asked Two Pilots : What is the difference between Retouch Pilot version 3.4.1 and 3.5.0 and the aswer is:

Thank you for your request.

The difference between Retouch Pilot version 3.4.1 and 3.5.0 consists that

Love the software. Does a good job. Took me a little to understand some of the cloning type selections. But, the program is pretty solid and was easy to understand.

#78 - Paint Shop Pro comes as a 30 day trial, but it never runs out, I used it for about 5 years before finally paying for it for my business.

Funny, many of the above comments feel it necessary to belittle Inpaint and they make a count of all the many bells and whistles which, they say, RetouchPilot has over Inpaint. In contrast, they were very few references (if any) to RetouchPilot when Inpaint was given away a short while ago. Do I smell something here?

Just want to say this program is amazing. You can do far more than merely "retouch," but instead can make incredible changes in a photo. And woe unto ye whose kid brother uses it to alter your once-handsome visage. I just took a beautiful photo of Marilyn Monroe and almost instantly turned her into a wild-eyed Harpie. Poor Marilyn. LOL

Very useful addition to my tool set for fixing damaged scanned photos and slides. The installer added the plugin to Corel PhotoPaint but did not for Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 or X3. I manually copied the plugin folder it created to my generic plugin folder used for multiple graphics apps and it worked fine with PSP X2. It did not install the plugin for Photoshop Elements 5 either.

I saw nice edge, color and noise blending using the Retouch Pilot smart patch tool. It's easier to use than a standard clone tool to me.

The help file refers to the "Tinter" tool but in the software it is named "Concealer" - which is confusing. This tool is good for tiny dust spot removal or fixing other blemishes. The scratch eraser single click or press and drag would leave highly saturated pixels that didn't match anything in the area too often to be useful for this job. That could be user error but I can't imagine why it would ever show over-saturated pixels in an area of an image that had none to begin with.

I could not find a simple way to pan using the mouse while zoomed in the image. Pan isn't even in the results of a search in the help file. I have to drag scroll bars and I don't have good control when zoomed in. In PSP, it's hold the spacebar and drag the mouse to pan; I wish that worked in Retouch Pilot.

I miss my mouse zoom on the image too. I can easily move sliders for brush settings by dragging. I don't normally use the scroll wheel to change sliders unless I'm using a keyboard modifier to let me resize a brush in place on the image so I can match the brush size to the pixels I want to edit. In PSP it's shift/scroll the mouse to resize the brush for some tools; I wish Retouch Pilot has something similar.

This IS the FULL version. There seems to be some idiots who must be going to the manufacturer website to download this and then expect to activate it through GOTD. It DOES NOT work that way. You MUST download it HERE, otherwise you WILL get the trial version. Also - people saying that it does not register - if you bother to read the instructions with the install pak you will see that it registers automatically. I can't believe the level of stupidity!

#40 My experience is just the opposite. I prefer Inpaint over this program. They each have pros and cons For me the tie breaker was "concealer" function in Retouch Pilot did not let me pick the color from the existing photo. I choose Inpaint but I will keep this one too.
The biggest plus was the easy activation and not waiting forever for an e-mail to activate.

Installed and activated ok on win7x64. Plug did not not work on Photoshop cs5 x64 but did work on x32. Only played with it a bit on an old photo with scratches and it cleaned it up pretty well.

Test box: win xp SP3
Installed fine.
Had some errors running in stand alone mode.

Installed the plugin: RetouchPilotPlugin.8bf
to
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\Two Pilots\RetouchPilotPlugin.8bf

copied this plugin a second time to
C:\Program Files\Micrografx\Picture Publisher 10\Plugins\RetouchPilotPlugin.8bf

After shutting off some filters via plugin manager. the result is

Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 - Doesn't work (I tried cutting all other plugins off except for Two Pilots - no joy)
Adobe Photoshop CS3 - Works fine
Ulead PhotoImpact 12 - Works fine

So we have an interesting tool here. As others have mentioned, there are more than one way to get things done. With that said, I probably would pay $10 maybe.

The other thing I noticed the text title screen tool didn't work in plugin mode on any of the three I tested, or in standalone by itself. (round trip failure)

Locked up once, in Adobe Photoshop CS3 when using text title tool. Not a deal killer though, as each of the others have text title screen tools.

Might want to fix that if you are selling the stand alone though.

What can I say the plugin is fun. I like it.

Several comments have noted that registration is an issue; I have installed twice, the "About" section remains stubbornly blank, many of the tools are greyed out and I cannot get the sort of responsiveness of which other commenters speak.
Perhaps it doesn't like ancient operating systems like XP??
Sadly, no one seems willing or able to respond to the various comments regarding registration, so I fear I will miss out on the delights of trialling this software on my significant portfolio of scanned old photos.

NR16, once again, thanks for you input. I have to wonder if the fanboys of this software/company keep thumbing it up to make it appear this is the cat's meow of this kind of software. However, I not only don't bother not downloading "lite" or "Special Edition" offerings, I blacklist these programs and never give them the light of day.

I sometimes feel sorry for developers and GAOTD if some of the more stupid comments to appear here are given credence. This software is the FULL registered version. It is not a trial. Just download, install, open any picture you have on your computer, adjust the brightness or contrast however you want because that's the quickest process, then click 'save as'. It will offer to save in a variety of formats. THAT'S how you know that it's registered.

I'm running it as a standalone. I've been using Photoshop for more than a decade. This is actually easier to use because it reverses PS's counter-intuitive cloning process. So far, it has worked well. (And, contrary to some other posts here, it seems markedly more 'intelligent' than In Paint or other software of this nature recently offered.)

It's definitely more intelligent than the clown who posted at #4.

Long-term use will ultimately decide if it's a keeper or not but so far I'm pleased to have had this opportunity of downloading the FULL product and using it for no payment at all: the quality seems high and for those unfamiliar with this kind of software, the developer's thoughtful little tutorials are excellent.

Thanks to the developer and to GAOTD.

I don't understand why this software is rated so high. It downloaded and installed quickly and easily, but seriously, why is it rated so high? Paint Shop Pro does a better job than this, and it's free. Just about any photo software I have gives better results than this software. In-Paint was just out here a couple of weeks ago, that software is 1000% better. Really disappointed in the high score for this, very misleading.

Sad to again see a program being belittled by people who haven't tried it and don't know what they are talking about. With respect you can't get this kind of software anywhere and even THIS COMPANY's FREE PRODUCTS are MUCH better than the equivalents of the InPaint Company, and iv demoed InPaint for students. This is the full version and the only people short changed are those who got put off by misinformation about InPaint being fuller featured etc Grab this and anything else by them you see anywhere. @16... You are wrong on so many counts. This is NOT a limited product. It bears little semblance to either InPaint or PhotoUpz, and would compliment either or both of those products.

Not to mention that the "free" apps your posts mention are trivial in comparison to today's offer. Geesh...if you spent time to open the app and watch a few of the tutorials you would be enlightened.

Thanks "Two Pilots" ... this is a clever and useful app.

Running Windows Vista Home Premium

Well install went fine but noticed as everyone else that in the about box did not give any registration details, so I wen to the website and downloaded and installed both the Retouch Pilot Full trail Version and the Free Lite version. When I installed the Full Trail Version it came up with Version 3.50 and when it install it said on the About Screen it was listed as a trail Version and also in the Title bar.

The Lite Version installed version 3.0.4 and Todays giveaway version is 3.4.1 and is not listed on the about screen as a trail. I like the demonstration option and tutorial within the program. The program is easy to use and the learning cure is easy.

Thanks GOTD and Two Pilots for todays giveaway.

OK I installed it. It doesn't show up in 64-bit Photoshop, but it does in 32-bit. Quite an interesting program. Where it duplicates features within Photoshop, such as Content-Aware Delete, it makes sense to use the mainstream Photoshop tools. However, this product might prove valuable for problem photos or final/preliminary cleanup.

Brush size needs to go beyond 50 pixels.

The tutorials are excellent!

I would like to correct my #14 which was using incorrect information in posts above. It installs perfectly, self-registers and is a superior editing package provided you take your time to learn its functions. Allow the tutorial video to show you its capabilities. I'm impressed and I will keep it. But it''s not a majic button, like all superior s/w you have to learn how to use it. All functions are available and it is NOT the Freeware / Lite package, nor a demo.

Excellent! Thank you.

Photoshop CS4 is on my system, but it consumes resources and is slow to load on my XP Pro SP3 with 4mb of RAM. So, I am always intrested in smaller programs to do the light jobs. I installed this program without issue. It seems to be pre-activatd (makes me wonder if I will be able to reinstall it tomorrow if I like! - which is something all GOATD users suffer from..., especially if their computers need overhaul). Anyway, this program is very easy to use, and does much of what Photoshop does with its Healing Brush.

It comes with some demos, which are nice, but they steal your mouse control, which I don't like at all. There are no preferences to set. You can export your results as bmp, jpg, tiff or png.

One thing I like alot is it has a liquify feature similar to Photoshop (not as good, however), and it allows for multiple undoes until you accept the whole liquify session. Multiple undoes in a liquify session is something that Photoshop CS4 doesn't have (CS4 does have a "reconstruct" tool, however.

Conclusion: I recommend this tool to anyone who doesn't have Phostoshop.

By the way, this application claims to also come as a Photoshop plugin, and the plugin comes in the installer, and installs into your PS extensions if you select the feature during installation. The plugin interface looks exactly like the regular program's interface - except that you don't get the File menu, and when you click "OK", the image is returned to Photoshop. But most of the features, from what I can see, are already in Photoshop; I'm not really sure why you would want it as a plugin for PS; it would, however, be a good plugin for XnView!

What a happy coincidence. I was just about to start a project of retouching old photos. Professional restoration services charge around $20 per photo! I played around with Retouch Pilot for a half hour and it looks like I will get what I want -- removing large scratches, creases, etc.

I'm not a huge graphics person and haven't used a lot of imaging tools like PhotoShop or GIMP. Retouch Pilot is very user friendly for graphics noobs like myself. One thing to note that wasn't very clear in the summary -- Retouch Pilot is a stand alone application as well as a plugin for other graphics suites. So you can still use it even if you don't have PhotoShop.

Retoch Pilot will be a keeper.

Seriously zephyrdell, If you are that worried about less than a megabyte of hard drive space, I would suggest not downloading anything from anywhere. You still working with one of those old 3GB hard drives?

I see this kind of chatter here all the time and I fail to see how it's even relevant anymore. If you are worried about hard drive space, you shouldn't be trying out new software.

When installing it does say “free". No problem it was free.
It is not the demo version because it is happy to save the modified picture as a .jpg file (the free demo version does not do this).
As far as I can tell mine is the full version and not the LITE version because "smart patch" is working (the LITE version does not have it enabled)
