#10 Eltima Software; if your program REQUIRES DEP to be disabled in any way then in this day and age when DEP compatible programming has been a standard windows compatible programing practice since XP service pack 2, you need to re-train your developers and bring them into the 21st century please. I know your product is an anti-security product by nature in that it hacks the password of a file someone may have legitiamately placed on a PDF but it should not require the user to increase THEIR level of vulnerability in order to use your software.

I sent several registration requests hours ago. No response to any in my inbox or spam.

Sent email to support as suggested above. No answer. Something is very wrong with this giveaway.

Vista Business 32-bit, clean install. I was expecting the same sizing problem others have mentioned, but it didn't happen. However, I have to say if any piddly little applet like this tried to dictate my working configuration to that extent it would be gone immediately.

I tried it on several pdfs. It worked OK on about 2/3's of them, some it complained about "illegal document formation" (or some such) and half of those times it abended. For the ones that worked it did not find passwords, but did offer to decrypt. The decryption worked and I was able to edit the files, which more important to me than actually recovering the passwords. It ran fairly fast, and while it was running in background it did not impact my interaction with other apps.

All in all, it worked well enough for me to keep it. When it works (most of the time for me), it is a handy applet.

Thanks GOD and Eltima.

I keep getting "error - check connection" during setup even though I turned off antivirus, don't have a firewall, don't use a proxy and have no problems with any other software or applications (I'm a tech support specialist, so I have an idea what I'm doing). Very frustrating and disappointing.

To JAKERS - thanks so much, your solution worked perfectly. I wasn't able to get back to my computer until recently to try it, but that was just what I needed.

As for the software itself:

It's too bad I have problems with my eyesight and need the higher DPI to read print on my screen. I'm not likely to use this program much, for that reason. I don't know much about software development, but that seems like something basic that should be dealt with before the software even leaves the labs.

Also, I've gotten errors on both PDFs I've tried the program on. I checked Eltima's Help Files on their site, but there's nothing about error messages listed.

Here's what I'm getting:

Error: Acess Violation at 0x004A23F2 (tried to read from 0x00000004), Program Terminated.

Then the program shuts down. Any suggestions?

Every time I go into the software and try to "Select your PDF file:", the program exits. It's obviously installed, and it says it's registered. I'm using a PDF that says (SECURED) at the top. Suggestions? I'm on XP SP2.

Still trying to install, getting the same "error: Cannot connect to our server...", Windows firewall disabled, trying a few different email addresses.
Emailed the company 6 hours ago with the details as they requested, NO response.
Very disappointed.
Using WinXP-PRO-SP3.
